"We are In an Anime" Discussion

This is a thread about discussing future or current events in the roleplay ''We are in An Anime", which is currently on episode 2...

I was thinking that Episode 2 will focus on the device (the magical mirror) in Fergus's lounge that will let any character explore the Mental World of the others, this will lead to foreshadowing in future episodes... Any questions so far?

Yeah. How do you imagine your characters to look like, Sabrina?

Goethe is slightly avian this time, she has black vulture wings sprouting out her back, black bird-claws and wears a red-dress, with dark green hair that's rather ghoulish. She also has long white fangs, golden eyes and a really long tongue.

Stephanie Tsunade looks like a middle-aged lady with black hair and a ponytail with big brown eyes and a purple miniskirt. She still acts like a tsundere at times and is quite comical.

Out of curiosity, how old are our characters supposed to be again? I was under the impression we're at a university, but you said Steph was middle-aged, so.

Well, they all range from 18-800, so there aren't really any thousand year old teachers or students at the university currently. The Mental World in this realm is called the "soul-room" and pertains to each individual (deities and dimensional-beings don't have soul-room.)

Main Rules of the soul-room:

• 1. Its connected to a person’s mental wellbeing/life-force
• 2. Its disconnected whenever someone dies, but is frozen in time when it does happen.
• 3. All of the objects inside are metaphors of a personality trait or desires/fears
• 4. Only magic-users can access a soul-room, or dimensional travellers.
• 5. Sometimes flashes of memories are leaked through, it is forbidden for dimensional travellers to alter the memories.

I'm guessing that deities and dimensional travellers don't have Soul Rooms because they aren't or weren't born in this universe?

That is correct. Goethe would be considered a dimensional traveller, because she isn't of this current dimension.

That was mostly for parody/humour for the concept of Magical Girl , although I must ask... Would you like to to delve on Nightmare anatomy or save that for another episode?

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how to tie it in. Maybe have Yumeko speak with Aiyo (his sister, who does work in the university) first.

That's a good idea, as long as Yumeko experiments with the Magic Mirror afterwards.

Hmm yeah. That sounds good. Maybe have Hiroji bump into Yumeko afterwards? Or Yumeko recognizes the similarities between the two siblings.

I like all of your ideas so far!

Now I'm thinking about what Yumeko's Nightmare will look like.

I admit that I based some of his personality off of mine (since this title is "We are in an anime"). I plan to develop his personality separately from mine over time, though. He feels a bit like a blank-slate atm, but I hope to develop him more over time!

I'm thinking that Yumeko's Nightmare will have a chain aesthetic, representing how he's essentially trapped and forced to reincarnate into Neo-Daten university (chained to fate), DNA in general and the aesthetic will resemble his reincarnation process (making the chains look like infinity symbols).

That's very creative and good thinking! Also, Nightmares generally become the antithesis (opposite) of who they were in life and they aim to spread like a Mind Virus to others. Males can also become Magical-Boys, so it's not just restricted to Magical Girl.

i suppose kosugi would make a celestial rather than a nightmare right? at this point in the story anyways (not that i intend on that happening anytime soon)

that said, there any rules for how celestials turn out, or can we go hogwild with imagination there

oh while im at it i think i missed this bit of exposition, whats the difference between a dark magical girl and a nightmare?? are they interchangeable or is one of them a transitional phase or

Kusogi's power as a Celestial would wipe out the entire university, if not that world! Basically he'd be simply too powerful for everyone to handle. Also, an Nightmare is a completely different species to humans, since they're not human anymore, so they belong to the monsters category (as a seperate species)

oh SHIT lmao. probably won't have that happen at all then, unless the stakes get REALLY high

Also, there are some rules for Celestials.

• They must use their own powers rather sparingly, in order not to wipe out the whole battlefield.
• They must be fair in battle- and limit their power with some magic as a mental barrier
• They must not use their power for anything selfish or cruel in nature (no murder, no stealing, always honest etc).
• They must go back to their default form within half a day, if not their Celestial state will be permanent.

Holy shit. I originally pegged the Student Council as Villains With Good Publicity since they're interested in Nightmares and want to keep Celestials from happening, since they're apparently the opposite. But it seems that Light Is Not Good is a factor that plays into Celestials.

Too much of anything can be bad.
