Ryan Brady
Sue was now on board, and it looked like she was ready to join in with her clones in beating down Hector. Ryan pointed at the sleaze ball and stated, "You hear that, you mind-raping scumbag!? You're in for it!"
Ryan was not in any mood to stop now. Not with what this represented. Hector had basically violated him. Violated his privacy, violated his mental security, and done so without any regard for him. Heinous shit - heinous fucking shit. And given that he was willing to do that so blatantly, so blase, with no care if he got caught, who knew what he'd be willing to do to the girls around here?
Would he do the same to Lucy? Just randomly assault her mind and walk off chortling?
What about Cheryl? Would she be another target for Hector?
He turned and looked at Inusuke, and tried to interpret what he was saying, but in the state he was in he couldn't read the sign language right. Seemed he was though trying to say for them to stop.
"We can't just let this fucker..." He pointed at Hector, "go for this! If he was willing to do that shit to me, what if he goes around mentally assaulting more people!? What if he mentally assaults women just walking past the school or trying to take classes?" This had quickly become personal for him. Hector had made it so.
And Ryan wasn't willing to let it go without consequences for the bastard.
Inusuke growled in annoyance.
{WHAT YOU GOING DO?} he signed. {SPLATTER HIM ALL OVER WALL? EAT HIM? LET TEACHER DEAL HIM HE GET KICKED OUT}
He gnashed his teeth on the seal in annoyance at the whole group, but he was looking pretty unhinged and feral at this point, while just trying to keep everyone apart.

"We're witnessing the birth of a new caste system in our current year." He said into a little portable audio hookup. He wasn't going to miss this for the world and he certainly wasn't going to let his thoughts settle before he committed at least some of it to content. "Negotiating consent in this day and age is a terrifying proposition—how do you say no to someone with laser vision? Or for that matter mind reading? This journalist is grateful to be so difficult to kill. I don't know how much agency I'd have here otherwise, and I hope I can use that responsibly for everyone less fortunate than me. I'm eager to keep learning here and show you all what it's like on the inside."

So, she was an artist. A very quick, indie artist who could spread patterns on paper in seconds. She didn't have to rely on a steady hand, the picture actually flowed directly from her brain. My.
Ortrun worked her mouth staring at the desk—which was not reflective and tried to make a social smile before checking the result in her phone. When she was satisfied with something that curved right and showed a nice, social, non-aggressive amount of teeth, she gave Lucy a nod.
She made a much more natural jaw drop at the 'containment breach.' She didn't even have to turn around. Only Ryan could boom like that and potentially boom like that.
Note: High Priority. Maintain distance from Ryan. Refrain from observations and 'perusing'. Further note... Well, Ryan, Sue, and Inusuke—or Sue by herself— could form a lynch mob in less than 3.8 seconds.
And Ortrun already knew about Ryan's and Sue's violent tendencies but... that was acute radiation poisoning if not annihilation he was throwing around. Casually. And she let out a long-held breath when Ryan dismissed the orb.
Honestly, she would be ashamed of herself for sitting by and watching even were she not in a hero school. Aaaand do it anyway. Probably slink away. In this case, Ortrun was at a hero school and...rooted to the desk. Twas sheer luck the bomb didn't go off and she had time to unfreeze and get her bearings.
Other note: if Ryan had gone off, this would have killed me and others... Its real. From the very first day. Okay, be prepared. The scout motto. And cliche. But seriously, she had to dive into study. This was the second day of school and she'd already nearly been in a level 4 nuclear event. And nearly watched someone in reach get charcoaled. Also, get some Prussian Blue. Look with century eyes... 'Wasn't aware'? By the Jade Emporer, he couldn't have been serious. "Are you seriously telling us you fucked with his head by accident?! That's not the sort of thing someone does 'by accident!' And you're just saying it 'won't happen again' like that solves everything?!"
Then again, she had gotten off fairly easily for nearly eating Jenna. As much as she was berating Hector, she wasn't really one to talk. True, she'd made an honest mistake. But apparently, so had Hector.
She took a deep breath, calling back her clones as she tried her best to deescalate the situation. "Look, maybe I'm being a bit too hard on ya. But what you did? It wasn't okay. How the hell does that even work anyways?"

"It's a power that I have. If I look into someone's eyes for a short period of time,I can see what lies in the other person's soul and they, in turn, can see what lies in mine. and it's not pretty. I don't have much control over whether it happens or not, so the best I can do is to avoid eye contact. It shouldn't have happened and I'm sorry I wasn't careful."

"Uh-huh." Sue wasn't completely convinced, but for now she decided to just nod her head and go along with it. "If you say so. Just don't do it if you can help it, 'kay? Seriously, that shit ain't cool. And maybe try and put somethin' over your eyes if it's really that bad. Couldn't hurt any."
Steven-Classroom
Steven had spent the past...amount of time dealing with the issue of Sue giving him a kiss, which he hadn't been expecting. Or hoping for, because he had just made it as a gift. After a date. Which was normal and not something he had expected to come with a reward attached. Not that he wasn't happy! He was over the moon at his first kiss. But did that mean they were together? Would it be wrong to ask or maybe he should ask someone else? The Ryan guy from yesterday looked like the kind of guy who would know about girls and kissing and stuff like that.
That had been the state of his mind, like a pool of chaos. That was until a bunch of magic and trouble started flying around like fastballs being pitched on a diamond. "Some people don't have all the luck with powers, maybe coughing up blood isn't the worst that can happen," he pushed himself up and looked around the room to see if he could get to Ryan before class started. Or maybe Sue needed some back up. But it looked like the newbie had enough people on edge that he felt like jumping on the pile was going to be an issue. "Hey Ryan, uh could I talk to you, about a personal thing." hopefully he wouldn't make a big deal out of it, at worst he could make it payback for the thing yesterday.
Hector Finley Black Venzon
"I'm considering that. I'm got some black tinted mirror shades on Amazon anyway. I just find they look cool. They should be arriving soon."
I really fucked up. I hope this shitstorm passes soon.

So this was it.
He literally had Mind Violation as a power, and he didn't even think to avert his eyes until this happened, nor did he think before coming to a school that he needed precautions ahead of time. Yeah, like him "doing it accidentally" was supposed to make it better. Riiiight.
"Just making it clear..." Ryan said as he turned and shut his powers off, the sparks and radioactive forces going away, "If I hear about you "accidentally" doing this to ANYONE else, Hector, you and I are going to have a very long and painful discussion - your face and my fists."
Ryan then pointedly took a seat near the much safer seeming Steven rather than going anywhere near Hector.
So when Ryan took his seat and Hector asked him about something, Ryan perked up. He was glad to move on past this, to think of literally anything except...that.
"Yeah? Go ahead, uhh, Steven." He remembered the name and thankfully. He would've otherwise referred to Steven as Pink-Hair. Crossing his arms he wondered what Steven needed his opinion about.
Steven-Classroom
"Well its a bit personal, so I hope you could keep it between us. Not that I think you are the kind to gossip mind you but keeping this between us would be a fine thing to do if you wouldn't mind," he waited for confirmation before giving a small sigh. "So I figure that you seem the type to have been in a few relationships, given that you are a handsome enough person and were a big player of cowards Rugby back in the States right?" his voice dropped a bit to go into a bit more of a whisper. "You see, I took Sue out on shopping trip, that might have been a date, that was then very much a date, and now I am worried over if we are together in the proper couple sense, or if maybe I'm overthinking it or if there are steps and processes to this sort of thing that I am missing."
Most of the shows and movies usually ended without any clear cut answer to this sort of thing, Ryan was his best hope. Or at least his first hope, worst came to worst he could try and seek out some proper thoughts from the more feminine half of the class.
Marcel - Investigations
And of course, the teacher was also British. Given the diversity of the student population, you'd think they'd also manage to pull in teachers of differing nationalities as well. Marcel supposed it would have been too much to hope for Hercule Poirot.
Nonetheless, Holmes seemed a reasonable enough man. As long as there wasn't any more drama-
And there it was. Naturally, it was the living H-Bomb that seemed to start it, accusing another student of reading his mind. Or soul. Overreacting to a perceived slight. How typically American. Whatever it was, the accused seemed sympathetic enough. Though Marcel noted he was some kind of magician. And one never trusted magicians; who knows what they have up their sleeve?
Though if he can read souls... A thought occurred, for just a fleeting moment. I wonder if my soul still has any color to it? Could he tell me where my voice has gone?
He almost stepped in, but Ryan managed to calm himself down at the last minute. Which was fortunate, because Marcel would rather not be in the fireball area of a nuclear blast.
Turning away from the unfolding scene, he directed his attention back towards Lucy, who - judging from the ink moving about on the other girls desk - was still engaged in conversation with little Dr. Anxiety.
An advantage to being tall was that it was easy for him to read over people's shoulders, and he couldn't help but lean over slightly to catch a glimpse of the note Lucy had been given. Realizing she was once more mentally berating herself, Marcel reached for his own pencil and notebook. He'd have whispered to her, but his voicebox volume couldn't be set that low.
He had to erase and rewrite the first sentence after he reflexively started it in French, but a few seconds later he tore a scrap from his notebook and slid it onto her desk.
I can tell when you're beating yourself up, mignonette. Read his note, in neat handwriting. Don't let that one worry you too much. She seems to be afraid of everything. Here, 'everything' was underlined for emphasis. And remember I'm here for you. If I have to follow you around giving you reassurances, I will.
This was followed by a quick but surprisingly well-done sketch of a stylized clown face sticking its tongue out. It had plus-signs for eyes, similar to the makeup some mimes wore.
Love, Marcel
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Investigations Class – Lucy Livingston
Success! Or at least, as close to it as she could get. Lucy returned Ortrun's... attempt at a smile with a genuinely happy one of her own. She was severely worried that she'd screwed it up beyond any reversal, but...
The smile faded into a small upturn of the lips, but the satisfaction still remained as a peaceful serenity.
Which faded into a mildly shocked look, a neutral expression, and then a slight frown as Ryan exclaimed something from his side of the room and accused another student of some sort of mental incursion. Or something along those lines. She'd been so caught up in her written conversation with Ortrun that she'd momentarily lost track of her surroundings.
Should be listening, she thought to herself, frown still present even as the tensions died down a little. Then you'd know what's going on.
They don't want your input, raked a blackened claw across her cheek. She shivered involuntarily, which apparently didn't go unnoticed along with her creased brows—as she suddenly registered a piece of paper being passed onto her desk from Marcel's direction.
...Is this why texting was invented? she idly thought, picking it up and beginning to read through it. Kinda getting ridiculous now...
Relatively innocuous, for the most part. She suppressed a snort at the heavily underlined ‘everything’. Which was undeniable, but it wouldn't stop her. And she'd succeeded, right? She was on her good side, right?
She was about to reply before her eyes fell to the bottom of the sheet, and her face suddenly drained of all expression. The cartoonish clown face she actually thought was a cute detail. But the words accompanying it she had to reread several times.
Inhaling through her nose, she managed to flash a tight smile over to Marcel before her confidence faltered and she found herself looking back at the note again. Her outline again rippled, but this time with a clearer rattle. It sounded guttural, almost alien in nature. But it didn't last long; barely even a second of time.
“...You might have to,” she muttered to him in what she hoped was a more lighthearted tone. “Thank you.”
Mental note: don't look that new guy in the eye, she thought upon facing herself back forward. I... don't want him to see. At all.
Let him look.
No.

Well, that was all very interesting. Fallout Boy had a temper, of course. David Copperfield could look into your soul. Both useful items. He conjured a pair of old-timey steampunk-like goggles over his eyes, just to be safe. And another magic-user. I thought I'd only have to worry about Merlin. And Sherlock Bloody Holmes. How is he still alive? This just keeps getting better and betterNext, he noticed the interplay between Mime and Lucy. They seem like a good couple. Makes more sense than the straight-edge guy and Monkee Maid. I need to make a connection too, perhaps. At least introduce myself a bit more.

Ryan Brady
You want my help and you insult my fuckin' sport?
"Calling my favorite sport cowards' rugby isn't putting me any closer to helping you out there, buddy boy."
Then Ryan realized what Steven was trying to ask for help about. This was a girls thing. Ahh yeah, this was something in his wheelhouse of experience. Putting a hand on to his desk, Ryan leaned over to Steven and asked in a hush tone, "So, how far have you gotten with her?"
Ryan looked around and then checked if anything else was going on.
"I mean," Ryan continued quietly, "Perception of a relationship depends really. Some girls see one thing as a bigger deal, others see more intimate things as the bigger thing. It's really on a big individual basis. What I will tell you is this; only go as far and as fast as she wants you to. Don't try and force things to go faster."
Professor Holmes
Well, the peace was not expected to last, that much was true. Sherlock just kind of watched at first as the general chaos, who would be the trouble makers, who would be the quiet ones, who would, ultimately, be disrespectful and would need constant, constant vigilance.
The annoying part was all of them.
One looked into the others eyes, the other one got really, really upset, the monkey one also got really mad, and then the entire class was almost obliterated by radioactive energy that was thankfully quelled by the power of sitting down and talking about it...and the quiet, half dog young man.
"Right then. Well." He cleared his throat after a pause, after the tensions settled and the threat of radiation was less of a problem. "Glad we all handled that like adults. Now, needless to say, ground rules."
He pointed at Hector. "Needless to say that is incredibly dangerous and invasive. Unless you start wearing something over your eyes you have no permission to look someone in the eyes. Avert the gaze, close them, I genuinely don't care, you're not soul-seeing anyone in this class without permission."
And then his attention turned to Ryan. "I understand the feeling of being violated son, I really, truly do. You're within your grounds for self defense but when that self defense involves evaporating another student is when a line needs to be drawn. Think before you let your anger take you over."
He took a deep breath and turned to the blackboard. "Now if anyone else has any questions, I think it's about time to do the first lesson. Bloody hell it feels like days since I walked in here..."
Investigations Class - Q&A
Oh, he's closer now... Ortrun put a hand on her chest settling her rapid breathing. And cursing the adrenaline rush because she didn't do anything.
Partly to distract herself and partly to course correct things, Ortrun used the rush to make herself stand.
"Herr H.. Mister Holmes..." She started, pausing in case he ordered her back down or anything else. "You have seven questions in the proverbial backlog, sir. For Ms. Lucy Livingston: a What if you don't have time to to investigate? Or you don't have enough time to figure it out?"
The..." Ortrun looked to the sky as if it would open up and reveal the new guy's name but... just ended up staring for several seconds. "The person you just spoke to asked what he missed and if tying his staff to the desk was 'okay'."
Er... Ryan." Saying his name is not going to summon him. "Mr. Ryan, With all due respect, Asked you to clarify if you were very same legendary detective, like with the Baskerville Dog." Technically, so did the new guy, but she didn't know his name.
"Gavin asked about where to find the NDA's and disclosure clauses that we'll need to know about. And he also asked for any 'rules of thumb'." She repeated it by rote as she had no idea what he meant by rules for his thumbs.
"Ms. Sue, with all due respect, wants to know how you...stand out among your peers." She hoped that's what that had meant. Ortrun was not repeating her actual words.

"I'd also like to know in greater detail about interrogation techniques."
Sign up for my open-ended high school RP hereProfessor Holmes.
"Ah. Yes. Apologies. Quite a bit going on there, utterly lost track of the situation." he cleared his throat and turned back to the class, holding up one finger.
"When it comes to time crunches and there's simply no time to sit down and mull over the situation, then I'm afraid investigation will need to take the back burner. That being said, if time is of the essence then investigation won't even be needed, especially if the perp is stupid enough to still be there. This will be investigation classes, combat training will pertain to Professor Alexander."
He held up two fingers, his gaze turning to the new comer. "Well thankfully we're at the very start of the class so you didn't miss anything. As for your staff, I'd suggest tucking it away where it won't be bumped over and cause a kerfuffle."
Three fingers. "The very same. After all, the stories needed to come from SOMEWHERE. And regarding the adventures of the like, well, let's just say those weren't all the adventures that were ultimately written down..." He chuckled ominously.
Four fingers. "Ultimately the NDA should be maintained until the situation is resolved, criminals behind bars and what have you. The worse thing one can do in regards to letting information out too early would be to let the press make their own assumptions, and then you have a legal battle on your hands. As for rules of thumb, well, that'll be discussed in this class."
Five fingers, and his gaze turned to the monkey girl.
"And if you must know, I don't consider myself grander or greater than my peers. It is simply a matter of the fact I'm a well renowned detective who is known for seeing answers where most people down. Certain people would find such a skill unimpressive but...with an eye like mine, you see things well beyond the veil of what people truly see." He chuckled, as his eyes flashed a ghastly blue.
"As for interrogation techniques, well, ultimately that's up for preference but I will be teaching you the non-lethal and non-combative manner of going about it. Fight unless absolutely necessary." He nodded.
"And there's nothing a good nose can't solve. Evidence of any kind could lead to the very culprit you search for."
"Now then!" He spun back to the board. "What do you believe the first rule of Investigation is? I want to hear what YOU think. There are NO wrong answers."

Classroom — Sue
Sue wracked her brains as she tried to come up with a suitable answer. Logically, the first thing any sane person would have come up with was 'investigate'. Simple, straight, and to the point. And of course it would no doubt win bonus points for cleverness.
Unfortunately, while Sue was slowly learning not to barge into every situation like a bull in a china shop, she was far from sane.
"Well, in the jungle, we just beat the shit out of everyone till they give us what they want. But I'm kinda sorta guessing ya do things different here?"
Investigations Class – Lucy Livingston
Lucy had been watching the detective intently as he spoke, leaning forward a fraction and apparently enraptured as he answered them in order. The flash of his eyes didn't escape her notice, and she mentally filed it away as an oddity to keep her attention on—a small frown the only indicator that she had caught sight of it.
I mean this is technically David's domain as well, but... we are family...
“...An open mind?” she vaguely guessed, only to realise her somewhat louder tone (she had unconsciously raised it due to the teacher's distance from her) and immediately dropped it back down to its usual level again. “Is it– um... wait no, one answer– e-either analysis or an open mind...”
Well one of those is redundant.
For the brief moment when she had spoken at an almost normal level of volume, her voice had sounded much heavier and deeper than one would have expected. Especially given the relative tininess of her form—it was an odd juxtaposition that she was quick to cover up again.
There was a strangely piercing look out of the corner of her eye towards Marcel—almost as if she was daring him—before her gaze locked back onto the teacher and softened again.
Strange symbols and patterns were being lazily formed on her open notebook. Like idle thought, except in the form of a shifting image. They paused a moment as Lucy overheard Sue's comment—a cynically humorous look crossing across her face—before continuing on in an aimless fashion.

borkClassroom-Steven
Steven mulled over Ryan's words and simply gave a small nod at the information, along with a fast thank you before the professor began to talk, giving him a chance to look at one of the breathing legends in the world, the great detective himself. The first rule of an investigation, if he wasn't exhausted he could probably dip back to someone with actual knowledge, but given this was teaching he probably wasn't supposed to cheat looking for an answer. "Not jumping to conclusions?" he gave a nod toward Lucy. "Pretty much the same as have an open mind, but balancing it a bit. Just because you think things are one way doesn't make it the truth." all it took was one wrong accusation to ignite a small gang war in the orphanage, so you had to have the iron proof ready to fire.
Investigations Class - We're in Class!
I noticed... Ortrun Oda Oelberg rested her head in her hands, hearing Sue speak.
"We," Ortrun stood alot more naturally. This was class. "I'm sorry if it sounds like the 'open mind' that's become a favorite saying and forgive me. But specifically, I..." She reached a bit to try putting the idea into a nice flowing English sentence.
"Want to specify that investigators should be aware that we are dealing with people and we should remember ethics and dignity so that we don't develop 'tunnel vision' or..." Another pause, while Ortrun did something with her hands as if trying to wind up her words. 'Confirmation bias' was what she wanted to say, but that was jargon. And then she kinda stalled on a replacement.
Taking a breath, she just spewed what she had. "Ethics! The number one rule of investigation is to remember good conduct during an investigation so as to avoid problems like intruding too much on people or obsessing over a pet idea to the detriment of justice."
