A bit slow for my liking.

Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
One of those songs where, even with my tendencies to live under a rock, I've still managed to hear it over and over and over again. It's... eh, it's fine, I guess? Hozier never really grabbed me - it always felt like he's not nearly as dark or mysterious as he or his fanbase would like you to believe - but he at least knows what a catchy tune sounds like.
mwahahahaha yesss. i have converted a newcomer to the cardiacs faith.

Very much catchy and another banger of the sonic musical lyrics.

"It's Thane! Whack him!"
I love the backing instrumental, but that guitar is way too loud on my ears.

This one's absolutely all about the lyrics. It's a fascinating concept for a song - trying to comprehend something deep, intimate and personal when you're on the outside looking in, with only a single, fragmented email divorced of context to go on - and there's a mixture of a keen eye for detail and an ability to remain lighthearted without detracting from the emotional core of the story here that really makes the lyricism pop. The musical backing is your standard four-chord indie singer-songwriter kind of deal, not nearly as memorable as the words, but does a song like this really want fancy musical tricks to distract from its tale?

Hail majestic corporate light, heaven born and ever bright!"Sairai" - Shinichi Kobayashi
Not exactly what I was expecting from a thumbnail like that. It's pleasant, though. A cozy little bit of country.

I suppose, by the transitive property, I too must be "Vulcan as a Motherfucker."[1]Stick Crickets - Naked Airways
...yeah, this one's such an obscurity I couldn't even find it on Youtube. Had to pull up the Bandcamp page I found it on.
Very theatrical, in the "theater kid" sense, but in a surprisingly reserved way - it's giving vibes of late-period Sparks, during the phase where they'd decided guitars and drums were for losers, except with a female vocalist. Not to mention I've related to the lyrical sentiments far more often than I'd care to admit.

It's giving Aly & A.J. or Avril Lavigne — both of whom put out songs I still enjoy to this day, even if their overall style isn't really my cup of tea anymore. That said, the vocals are good and I enjoyed the music video's Shout-Out to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Ah, RWBY, a show that occasionally keeps popping up to remind me of its existence. I'm vaguely aware the soundtrack usually leans butt-rock, so to hear a genuinely pretty love ballad was a real surprise - but a pleasant one. I'm a big fan in particular of the way the backing vocals are layered to form the core of the melody.
