The Glow Pt. 2 is a fantastically evocative record, the sound of a long journey both spiritual and physical through dense Pacific Northwestern forests captured in crackly home tape recorder quality that somehow just enhances the atmosphere. Part of its evocativeness comes from its incredible sequencing - the album makes great use of short, rambling songs that would be filler on most records to enhance the journeyman vibes. Which is to say, this giant distorted five-minute climax of a song is good enough by itself, but you're not getting the REAL experience unless it's your rest stop amidst all the shorter numbers flitting in and out of your ears. Still fantastic though; Phil Elverum knows how to make damn good use of the crunchy sound quality of cheap home studio equipment.

Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
A little too discordant for my liking.

Some neat sound design here and there, but man, those vocals samples are just annoying. Se7en may be a classic, but I can only hear "what's in the box?!" so many times in a row before it irritates me, y'know?

Hail majestic corporate light, heaven born and ever bright! For anyone who fondly remembers watching the pilot episode of Gossip Girl (2007)...
I think the lyrics sound quite bland... am I right?

When did "horror J-pop", for lack of a better term, become a trend anyway? Is this part of the general internet need to turn anything with a cutesy, wholesome image into a horror story?
Anyhow, nice guitar riff, but the vocals and lyrics just feel... awkward. I strongly suspect this would feel a lot more natural if I were to seek out the original Japanese version.

Not bad. Not so much the kind of thing I would actively pick to listen to, since it's more of an ambience than a song, but it's still very nice to listen to.
Some of the parts especially around the middle are really sweeping.

Your melody still remains in this room and it rings

EDIT: ooooooo thanks
This is by no means my favourite song from On Avery Island - it's hardly a daring take to say "Naomi" is the runaway best song on the album and the only one competing with Aeroplane's stellar highs, but it's my take nonetheless. But it's still pretty good! This kind of scabby lo-fi indie gets called "slacker rock" a lot, but most of it represents the idea of the slacker as a lovable lump who's found nirvana in laziness and apathy, big The Dude from The Big Lebowski vibes. This, on the other hand, feels like slacking because your motivation has gone up in smoke and you have no energy left to do much but stare at the ceiling feeling vague contempt for nothing in particular - a surprisingly rarely captured vibe. "Leave Me Alone", indeed.
