Same here. I may have been the one who suggested the visual pun/caption in the first place (although the final image was suggested by War Jay 77), but I actually think that the two of The Walking Dead panels better demonstrate the trope.

Agree with Walking Dead. Could go either way on the panel discussion.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
For reference, this
is the image in question. After some wiki walking I realized this is an Even Evil Has Standards moment for Negan (the one on the right), but when first looking at the image I thought the bald guy was demanding sex in exchange for water. Maybe the Visual Pun is the way to go.
Eh, I think there's something visual in the image that adds to it, while the other was just people talking.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI guess that if there is no way to illustrate the image due to being too much of a broad concept/difficult to properly illustrate, or if properly illustrating the image would be too nsfw, a visual pun may work better than Just a Face and a Caption or even BUPKIS.
Otherwise, I do think that there are places where visual pun's are pointless.
That said, if the Walking Dead image is better, I think we would be better off with both panels, as opposed to just the second one; at least with the first, panel, one can make out the man's lecherous intentions.
If it's nigh-impossible to have an image that actually shows the trope, mind as well have something funny.
Ok. I have considered it, and I know that if we use the walking dead image, both are necessary. The more I think about it, the more I agree with Adept and rjd1922 that the Visual Pun is the safer option.
Either way, bumping for consensus.
There are valid reasons to hold canola oil in low esteem besides the unfortunate name of the plant it comes from, such as it being less healthy and flavourful than olive oil, schmaltz, or butter. I think most people would understand that "rapeseed" is just an unfortunate name for a plant used to make edible oil.

I think the Visual Pun would only backfire as some would hate canola oil on the account that it contain that word. But that would depend on whether they are enough of them to have such a reaction.
Crown Description:
Image for Rape Is A Special Kind Of Evil?

This image was ultimately (following many variations on the concept) suggested in the Suggestion thread, potholed to Visual Pun and captioned "The only form of rape that should be allowed to exist.note "
A countersuggestion from The Walking Dead was then suggested, with or without the first panel:
Thoughts? I'll personally take a work example over a literal/visual pun example any day, especially since "rapeseed=canola" might not be common knowledge.
