[up][up][up] So I went to Wikipedia to glance at what a dyad is. It's not really helping me see your stance.

Their romantic link doesn't start in TROS, it starts in TLJ, and their force bond is set up on TFA.

So I continue to not see why dyad is a big deal.

[up][up] [up]

I would disagree, the most impressive force feat both demonstrate is how that two way bond connects them across space.

I dislike TLJ, but that moment when Luke can briefly see Kylo sitting in front of Rey and back on the ship Kylo sees rain droplets on his gloves is cool as fuck.

Also, their lightsaber battle in TROS. That shit was cool.

Its just another tacked on detail to Kylo and Rey's romance.

Pretty much everything related to the 2's relationship is detestable on every level.

It could be worse, if she stayed with Finn, Poe + Finn Fans would have hated her.

I don't really need Kylo to do broken force moves, tbh. The less escalation, the better, especially since the series already now has to deal with... well... nearly everything regarding Palpatine's crazy force exertions and the Final Order crazy tech in TROS.

[up][up][up] If you're looking up definitions of the word for clarification here, it's not going to help. The specific usage of the word in the film was invented by the film.

It's not a definition issue, it's a narrative issue.

I found it very alienating that “Force dyad” was dropped with all the pomp of a dramatic reveal, and no one onscreen appeared at all confused by the term. The lack of any immediate followup, or any followup at all in the movie, suggests Force dyads are a well-established idea that the audience should grok intuitively.

The issue is what Connects Rey and Kylo pretty much changes definition EVERY movie

Awakens there is no real connection between the two of them other then Kylo takes an interest in her growing force powers... but other then that They are simply Protagonist and Antagonist there is nothing deeper to it then that.

Last The Force bond which they constantly question is revealed to be Snoke's doing 'granted when and why he did it is poorly explained since ya know Snoke doesn't last long enough but for the most part the bond only exists so Rey can talk to Kylo in a way that kinda presents his point of view. The movie pretty much ends with her Breaking the Bond/ Connection.

Rise, Boom Bonds back... and not only does it connect them, It allows Kylo and Rey to break space and time ya know Kylo casually pulls a necklace from Rey from across the galaxy.. 'JJ heard space magic and wondered why george never went crazy with it'

but no the the Dyad exists... cause Rey has NO REASON TO BE SYMPATHETIC TOWARD KYLO

so Their soulmates now, she fundamentally knows Deep down Kylo is a good person. Thats why she spares his life cause she wanted to take Ben solo's hand.

except for the fact Ben has shown he is a self absorbed prick who Rey shouldn't be wasting the time of day on.

This is an outrage against Luminara!

TROS does not invent the space-time bridge of the force bond/dyad/whatever the fuck you want to call it, that's already at play in TLJ.

That's why I don't get the push back. Nothing TROS does retarding those two is new.

Pretty sure there aren't any objects passing through that connection in TLJ?

[up][up] During one of their force chats in TLJ, Kylo realizes he's got rain water on him from the storm in Ahch-To.

Also, Luke can actually see Kylo there with Rey on Ahch-To later in the movie, him vanishing when their communication gets cut.

[up][up] At least the twist in TLJ is that Snoke created the Force bond just to screw with them. Rise outright canonizes that Rey and Kylo actually are soul mates.

I wish Disney had any foresight in who they choose to develop these games. It's just a steady stream of poor decisions.

Depending on how long the game has been in dev, the things that happened this year like the court shenanigans and the terrible comments shouldn't count against Disney's decision, but still - like - the Elliot Page thing and the discourse surrounding it happened in 2015, so they should've had some idea.

On the note of terrible decision making, Disney is charging people 6 grand for a fucking SW-themed hotel.

I said this in the other Star Wars thread in the Live Action Show forums, but I would really like there to be a character played by a Native American actor/actress.

We could also use representation for other Indigenous groups. Temurra Morrison (I forgot exactly how to spell that name so my bad) is a good start, though he was already in Star Wars since 2002.

We could also use more Asian actors/actresses.

That, and Indian.

Iroquois Mohawk actress Devery Jacobs (American Gods, Reservation Dogs) auditioned for Rey, I recall.

Lack of Indigenous actors in Star Wars is an absence that’s felt considered the setting has so many “space tribes” stand-ins.

[up]*2.Unfortunately for her, it is obvious that those in charge of the casting were looking for a white woman to be Luke's female version. (You know, because episode VII is a remake of episode IV.)

[up]*3 "We could also use more Asian actors/actresses."

In movies I don't know, but in series, Boba Fett's right hand will be played by an Asian woman.

And from what I have heard a main character in the Ahsoka series will be played by an Asian woman.

But you are right that there are no indigenous actors.

One other thing we could use is accents in the GFFA (like with Galen Erso).

And not just for alien characters.

Random factoid but George Lucas' notes on Admiral Ozzel and other characters were given to West End Games when they made the movie books for the RPG. His established Ozzel was a political appointee. Not incompetent but very much promoted for his connections and also to seem like someone very high in the military would reign Vader in who didn't have a proper rank.

Vader took this as an insult (because it was probably intended as one).

Vader executed Ozzel on the first legitimate excuse he could find. Piett was appointed as a more easily controllable guy with no political connections.

Needa was killed because Vader was pissed off, not actual incompetence.

Needa is honestly a fascinating character, when you consider what the Imperial hierarchy is usually like.
