My story - [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15694428550A19601200&page=1#comment-1 link here], which I'm currently writing, is set in an Alternate History 1997, with a few small Time Skip s along the way.

I'm considering making one of my characters, Alexandra ("Lexie") into a Decomposite Character, but what are the advantages and disadvantages?

Lexie has already had her basic characterization started, she's a Dynamic Character not a Flat Character, and her role is de facto Mission Control (technically, it's not a spy drama, but Mission Control can still apply in other circumstances?).

Have you created decomposite characters and what's your view on them?

My story doesn't have Loads And Loads Of Characters - so far, it's just eight characters in total.

Hmmm, while I've never made a composite character, I think you have a good start if the character is rounded and dynamic.

Maybe try making a list of their character traits, good and bad, even the ones that seem minor (like appearance traits or her name or age or sexual orientation) and then start splitting those traits into two columns, one for each new character? After that, just fill in any gaps left and see what new characters you have?
