Finished watching the new episodes. This was a very strong set.

"Sidekickin' Chicken" was a pretty good episode, even by episodes that have...the toxic duo.

Granted, the episode definitely benefitted from the presence of Adelaide Chang and Alexis Flores. They are very charming, as always. Good job!

But I have to give credit to Carl and Sergio's treatment here. They're still their usual, toxic selves. But the writing made it such that, for the first half, it was actually pretty enjoyable to see them gun for El Falcon's sidekick gig. I especially appreciated the little rap number. Alex Cazares has the skills.

The second half, by contrast, was a trainwreck of such epic proportions that rather than be disgusted, you can't help but stand in awe.

OK, that last part was hyperbole. But I don't know how else to say it except that the part where he and Sergio make a last-ditch effort to put him into consideration as a sidekick that shows the depths of Carl's notoriety. And I liked it. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Having said that, the episode ends with a twist that makes a lot of sense in retrospect.

I give this episode a 9.5/10.

"Silent Fight" was an alright episode.

Now, first off, I feel that the conflict was somewhat contrived. There was no need for them to stay in the apartment while Carlitos recovered. Hell, it wasn't even raining outside. It bugs me.

Having said that, it was otherwise a great episode.

It was a very experimental episode with sparse dialogue, using only action and music to carry the episode. The gags were funny for the most part, and CJ and Carl were fun to watch.

It was like watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon, but with humans in the role. It helps that it stays grounded despite this execution. I think it's because it was a relatable situation about having to keep quiet around people who need sleep.

Finally, the episode ends in a somewhat satisfying but definitely heartwarming conclusion that ties it all together.

It's an episode that'll be worth a rewatch, despite the contrived premise. I give it a 9/10.

"Kick Some Bot" is another great episode. Of course, it's a Sid episode, so that's a guarantee.

We get some surprise angst in the beginning when we see that Sid is a tad insecure about her sister Adelaide getting all the attention. How Sid describes it is an understatement (she's pretty spoiled, I give you that), but it is nice to see a different side to that crazy girl who burst into Nickelodeon almost three years ago. And it provides a unique mix for the show.

The bulk of the show involves a robot competition, and she ends up competing against Lisa Loud who apparently publishes a newsletter Sid subscribes to. It's not exactly a natural link for them, but it says a lot as to Lisa's own clout. What also says a lot is how Lisa and her robot Todd perform. It literally wipes the competition throughout. I sense that she has a ruthless streak and a huge ego that she seems to share with Lynn and Lola. Sid struggles to beat Lisa and ends up losing the competition, which at the very least shows her that just doing your best is more than enough for respect.

I feel that this episode is much better than most Lisa and robot episodes. Sid pretty much carries the episode and the emotional core driving the conflict was another unique twist. Besides the wild robot abilities, it was like a refined version of "Making the Case" (being one of only two children also matters).

I give this episode a 9/10. Very fun to watch.

"Salvador Doggy" was a good episode, but it's handicapped by Sergio's overbearing presence in the first half. However, it improves significantly in the second half of the episode.

The plot is a good idea on paper, with Frida passing off the paintings the family dog makes as her own. It's a nice example of the frustration of art block.

However, when Sergio gets involved as Lalo's manager, the episode deteriorates. His toxic behavior grates on both Frida and the viewer, and it's so frustrating to see him derail the episode. It made me pissed off.

Once he leaves, though, the episode improves with some very funny sequences involving dogs. Those sequences are a good example of how the show can effectively weave in the ensemble cast as well as supporting characters in the plot. The most significant is Becky's appearance, which kickstarts the climax of the episode. Abby Trott effectively steals the show in this minor appearance. She should appear more.

Ultimately, the episode reaches a satisfactory conclusion. It's a fine episode badly weighted down by Sergio's toxicity.

It's an 8.5/10 for me.

Just saw some recent episodes and definitely saw how different Clyde's current voice is from previous voice actors.

"The Wurst Job" was a pretty fun episode, with a twist on the internship thing done in Season 2 of the parent show.

It was nice to see Ronnie Anne interact with Bruno. The local color the episode gave made the place very real.

The nightmare sequence was very wild and really sent the message through.

My only complaint was the usage of Mr. Inflatable. It was kinda out there for it to be sentient, let alone winning a hot dog eating contest.

It's a 9/10 for me.

"The Sound of Meddle" was honestly kind of painful to watch.

The sheer toxicity of Carl's interactions with his peers made it very egregious, considering it's near the end of the series.

I feel it was too much to watch.

The positive side is that we get to see Alexis Flores as a foil to all this: an example of upstanding behavior I think we ought to see more in the franchise.

All in all, I give this episode a 7/10.

Three of them sound good. The Sergio episode I will probably skip.

I watched the new episodes today.

"Alpaca Lies" was somewhat better than "The Loathe Boat" in that at least Ronnie Anne and Bobby actually try to talk to their dad directly as the first resort.

Otherwise, it's the usual gaslighting bad behavior plot, but with an alpaca.

I don't know why the alpaca even got involved with Arturo like he was a human. It's a cartoon, but the show has always generally had a relatively grounded depiction of animals. Even with the more zany execution here, this is a stretch.

I also don't know why the alpaca even has it out for them. It's rather ridiculous for an animal like that to be so spiteful from the get go.

Also, Arturo is kind of out of character for this episode. I thought he cared for his kids.

The only good parts were the interactions between Ronnie Anne and Bobby. They have a much better dynamic that makes them likeable.

I saw myself liking it slightly more than "The Loathe Boat", but not that much. I give a 7/10.

"Rocket Plan" was a very interesting and generally fun episode.

Call me ignorant, but I didn't know CJ went to school. I thought he was homeschooled. I would have loved to see an episode about that.

The plot about building a rocket was very fun. There were all sorts of shenanigans going on about rocket science that were pretty engaging. The only drawback was with them using Lalo as toilet humor. It feels rather unnecessary.

The climax when Hector decides to fib (and by that I mean cheat) by buying a rocket gets pretty gut-wrenching when Hector's scheme all falls apart and literally sends him flying.

The resolution feels very much earned after all this.

It's very nice to see a different pairing of characters in the Casagrande family, and it's done quite well.

Plus Sergio didn't get in the way either, so that's a big plus.

I give this episode an 8.5/10. The best of today's bunch.

CJ is the best casa grande character. Consistently sweet and funny and excellent representation. I hope if the casa grande cast gets episodes on loud house again that he gets to star in some.

Yeah, he doesn't really have anything terrible.

He's kind of like Leni Loud in a way.

He does go along with Carl's shenanigans sometimes.
