Here are some new title cards for "Survival of the Unfittest" and "Nixed Signals":
Finished the new episodes.
"Survival of the Unfittest" was very wild. I am actually truly shocked at how poorly prepared Bobby was for the real world, but I have to admit, his relationship with Arturo was worth it. With how he was able to actually step up towards the end, it was a very good job. The episode gets another 9/10.
"Nixed Signals" was very visceral, the best of the bunch. The relationship between Carlota and Frida was a great contrast. You can literally feel the distance between them. The fact that it repeats again makes it even harder. Thankfully, some silly jokes broke the tension at the right places to make this episode a work of art. And as with great art, the episode gets a 10/10 for me.

Finished the new episodes.
"Ay Fidelity" was a wild episode. It was great seeing Bobby and Par hanging out. Their mishaps with the customers were very frenetic, and I actually felt them. The characters involved also gave some color too. If there's any problem, though, it's the fact that Par doesn't seem to be a good enough foil. The two seemed too much alike. Also, the fact that Ziggy mentioned he was going to Michigan to get a record from Luna (obviously) was a bit of a missed opportunity to actually connect Bobby to the main show. He could have mentioned that he used to live there and that he actually knows the person involved. I give this episode an 8.5/10.
"Cut the Chisme" was really crazy. Hector gossiping about all sorts of shit was very harsh. It's like actually being there. I felt the rest of the episode could be better. It felt like going back to the status quo, and it feels rather meaningless. The episode gets a 7.5/10 for me.
OK, so I have read the new graphic novel.
"Cut and Run" went for a pretty painful turn, man.
"Lalo Forever" was a pretty nice story about the dog. It's nice to see how much Ronnie Anne cares about him now.
"Sickbed Rivalry" was pretty hilarious with Hector and Sergio's competition. It was also nice seeing the parrot do something nice for once.
"Fusion for a Bruisin'" was a pretty fun Sid and Ronnie Anne comic that also taught us the beauty of fusion cuisine.
"Leave a Message at the Bawk!" was very Seinfeldian in the execution. That's a plus.
"Late Again" was very relatable with all the stuff that gets people stuck.
"Trash or Treasure" was interesting, but it feels out of character for Frida. It seemed like a rehash of that Sponge Bob episode.
"A Blanket Statement" was nice, but that ending was harsh, man.
"Cheer Up" was very heartwarming, and it's a delight to see how Ronnie Anne's family actually cares for her.
"Old Sole" was a pretty funny comic about vintage clothing with a satisfying joke at the end.
"Pranks for Nothing" was very psychological. It was full of tension but the payoff was satisfying, albeit cliché.
"Casa to the Moon!" was pretty surreal, but the ending was a miss with the toilet humor.
"A Super Harrrd Choice" was a nice little comic. Simplicity at its finest.
"A Tie Game" was also pretty fun to read. It was very nice seeing yet another side of CJ's creativity.
"Sergio's Big Break" was fun to read as well. It has a good twist ending too.
"Limited Edition" was pretty fun. I liked how Carl decides to go with the flow at the end after a litany of embarrassment.
The art style was nice, but a tad inconsistent. I guess that's what I expect for an anthology series. Also, it looks like the character profiles don't match the number of appearances in this volume.
Ultimately, the fact that it's made entirely out of all-original stories is a great plus. I give it an 8.5/10.
Here's another article, including a sneak peek for "Phantom Freakout"![]()
And here are some additional screenshots:
Really dont like how flirty sid looks in these. It reminds me negatively of Clyde and Lori or dipper and Wendy on gravity falls.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532So, I watched the episode.
"Phantom Freakout" was somewhat of an improvement compared to "Save Royal Woods", but that's not a high bar to overcome.
There was a similar sense of wooden acting that makes it seem like most of the actors weren't at their best (with the obvious exception of Sid: Leah Mei Gold was still brilliant as always).
But even Sid crosses the line a little with Yoon Kwan: as the above comment stated, they saw some of the publicity images for the episode that I shared and compared it negatively to Clyde's former obsession with Lori, or Dipper's infatuation with Wendy in Gravity Falls.
The plot was also too outrageous for my tastes, and not only that, but the main antagonist felt rather offensive and insulting, in my opinion. It's a problem I'm seeing with these ghost plots in both The Loud House and The Casagrandes. They're not likable. They don't have a good hook, compared to other ghostly characters like Scratch from The Ghost and Molly McGee.
Now that I look at it, it's gonna get a 5.5/10 from me.
