I just discovered this person on YouTube, member name is LegalEagle (real first name is Devin) who is a real life lawyer, and has been doing videos discussing the accuracies (or mistakes) TV shows or movies make when featuring real legal matters.
He already has many videos up, but this video
is a good starting point, where he discusses the infamous series finale to Seinfeld.
Mod Note
There is a forum-wide ban on discussing US politics, which remains in place as long at the dedicated US Politics thread
is locked.
If a new episode goes back onto that subject (or any of the other banned topics
) then you are not allowed to discuss it. You can discuss any video about anything else, just not related to US politics.
If this becomes a problem, posts will be thumped and there may be further consequences.
We've already had to lock this thread once. If we have to lock it again, it's likely to remain locked for a very long time — and may not get unlocked at all. We'd really like to avoid that.

While that's arguably true, the majority of the direct harm from lead paint comes from children eating it due its sweet taste. It's the same reason people used to put it in wine: as a sweetener.
Food safety rules are there to protect customers, and any restaurant that fails to abide them should have its license removed and possibly be prosecuted.
Allergen safety is a murkier matter because, to the best of my knowledge, there are few laws or regulations mandating it and/or stating how allergen-free food is supposed to be prepared.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Lead is not an inherently dangerous material. It's not radioactive, so just being around it is not harmful.
The danger is that lead is bad when it gets anywhere inside of your body. Whether consumed (in the ways Fighteer explained or because it finds itself in drinking water because your pipes were made from it) or breathed (fumes from burning the most likely way to have it happen, I imagine).
Lead paint is not able to poison you when used to paint. If you don't start licking your paintings, it's pretty inoffensive. And considering the protections put around the Mona Lisa, I don't think anyone will ever be able to lick that.
Heck, lead in pipes isn't inherently bad unless the coatings get corroded off. This is what happened in Flint, Michigan: the city managers changed the source for the water supply and the new source had a different chemical composition. Without suitable treatment, the new water destroyed the protective coating in the pipes, exposing the lead and other toxic elements.
A lot of old lead pipes are treated in this way, since it's proven to be safe and cheaper than completely replacing them.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Are we perhaps going into off-topic territory now?
… Well, regardless of why this customer got served food that contained allergens in a restaurant that promoted itself on being accommodating to people with dietary restrictions, the point is rather that this is kind of a bit of a PR disaster for Disney, innit? If only a temporary one. Maybe.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Without meaning to sound insensitive note , allergic reactions to restaurant food are not rare events. Fatal ones are more so, but they don't usually make national news. This one blew up because of Disney's attempt to force its side of the lawsuit to arbitration, which created the perfect conditions for a viral meme.
By relenting on the arbitration demand, Disney has effectively covered its ass, and this is likely to blow over rather quickly unless some new facts arise to bring the case back into public consciousness.
Given how public everything is, the most long-lasting effect is likely to be the re-raising of awareness about allergen safety in dining, and that will hopefully lead to better practices among restaurants hoping not to be the next target of the sensationalist media.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There was a news story recently about Victorian books being quarantined because of toxic metals used in book cover paints, especially arsenic. I think in that case and with paint, the real concern is dust particles from crumbling surfaces.
But yeah, lets move on. We can continue this discussion in... the science thread, I suppose?
Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesHuh. I suppose that’s why two sites I visit sometimes to buy snacks from other countries are selling the stuff for like half the price.
I still won’t buy it, though - Even if I drank energy drinks, and even if I didn’t suspect the stuff to be crap, I refuse to buy anything attached to that garbage person.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming. They're also frequently sold at overstock stores like Ross/TJ Maxx/etc. Have been for a while now.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Prime was very popular here (UK) at first, but sales have really plummeted now.
Worth remembering that not all caffeinated drinks are created equal either, and I suspect the average consumer might not bother checking how much is actually in a drink. The UK version of Prime has notably less caffeine per can than the US version, but still more than most energy drinks on the market here.
Edit: Posted at the same time Mrph was writing the below post. His own mod post is more thorough, so retracting duplicate mod post.

I got a rock for Halloween. It might honestly be difficult to have a Legal Eagle thread at all anymore. The spirit of the channel's content has changed to be more US politically focused.
I remember when I first saw his channel he was doing "legal analysis" of like the Bee Movie. That's not the kind of stuff he does anymore.
I'm not advocating for US political discussion, but like, it seemed like there was a solid month of Legal Eagle talking about [redacted]. That's just the way his channel is now.
I do miss the "let's analyze Bee Movie/Daredevil/ style content.

Like I mentioned before, even apart from dietary restrictions restaurants have to be conscious that they can kill people. "Salads may be contaminated with raw chicken" is not a disclaimer you can get away with because it's too hard to avoid cross-contamination.
