The brand has been messy, but its not like there hasn't been successes.

At the very least the animated center is doing pretty good with the Harley Quinn cartoon going to its 5th season with a well-received spin-off and My Adventures With Superman going to its 3rd season.

It just needs stronger consistency, and maybe not make products that are insulting their brand like the Suicide Squad game. tongue

Yeah DC is not beyond saving and still has fans. They just need more consistently good products.

“I mean it seems weird to say this failed on day 1.”

I understand, but the lack of interest shown in the much lower previews *and* very bad audience responses tend to point to a bad trajectory at the box office.

Focus on good films and do,'t torch the film and run like Joker 2.

Luckily I don't expect any future films to be made with contempt towards the audience.

[up] Huh?

I guess this is something I just asking in the Joker thread but still... huh? I'm bemused that again on Day 1, it's been entirely written off and stomped on despite barely anyone having seen it.

Like I'm no Joker fan, I begrudgingly saw it on Netflix and didn't like it. The sheer vitriol and 180 on it though is weird.

eta: [down] Sorry, I was unclear but I'm also wondering what Joker 2 did to be labelled being 'made with contempt towards the audience'? Assuming that is the film you were referring to?

eta2: unless you were talking about SS:KtJL rereading the thread...

It keeps being brought up incessantly so I had point out the difference between the films.

But yeah I agree, its annoying how Joker 2 is being immediately labeled a bomb despite it literally just being released yesterday.

At least give it a weekend so we can actually see how it does before saying it underperformed.

Lanterns has found a director.

A director for the DC Studios and HBO’s much-ballyhooed series Lanterns has been found.

James Hawes, an established TV helmer who most recently directed a string of episodes of the Gary Oldman spy series Slow Horses, has been tapped to helm the first two episodes of the sci-fi cop series.

He’s a genre veteran who has done a number of shows like Slow Horses, Snow Piercer, Black Mirror and Doctor Who.

Judging by that Tweet, Krypto will be an important element of the story.

That's adorable but Superman really should keep better care of that doggy's fur.

If it's anything like the Silver Age only heat vision could cut that fur, and I doubt he'd want to risk hurting his dog.

Pre Crisis Krypto always had slicked down fur.

But it was Pre Crisis so Superman probably had Auto Dog Grooming Vision then.

Batman steps in and obnoxiously brags about how Ace has his fur perfectly manicured.

Krypto is traditionally a short-haired dog, whose fur didn't get long enough to need to be trimmed. The most grooming he'd need in that regard would be to be washed and maybe brushed. His nails, though, would need the heat vision treatment.
