[up][up][up] Its cause KC popularized the maligned recurring characterization of Warrior Woman.

Yes the more warlike Wonder Woman was intended to be a bad thing, but like a lot of stuff Waid wrote people missed the point of that and started more commonly writing Diana as more of an aggressive blood-monger with a sword afterwards.

Hawkman and Hawkgirl would probably be the best to play that role in the JL.

That of the noble warrior who is more willing to chop heads off than Supes or Bats.

But while JLU got that the memo wasn't passed to the mainstream enough.

Anyway Kingdome come is a story loved by Superman fans, because despite losing almost everything, he didn't become a villain.[[Anyway Kingdome come is a story loved by Superman fans, because despite losing almost everything, he didn't become a villain.

I'm not sure fans at the time really cared much about that specifically.

Fans are generally harder on Superman Elsewords now than they used to be - and really Elseworlds in general. The post-Injustice fanbase is much more opposed to moral examinations of Superman than previously.

Both Kingdom Come and Red Son - the latter of which features an eviler authoritarian Superman that definitely inspired Justice Lord Superman, who later inspired Injustice Superman - are both considered well regarded classics. But if they came out nowadays, I'm not sure the fanbase would regard them the same way.

[up][up] Hilariously Black Adam paints Hawkman as a 180 from that.

"Heroes don't kill" he says, while whacking people with a humongous axe.

Batman was probably more brutal if not murderous in nineties Elseworlds than Superman.

Vampire Batman who drained his foes dry, Pirate Batman who literally ran the Joker thru with a sword, Prohibition Era Batman who shot a machinegun, French Revolution Batman, Knight of the Round Table Batman, Red Son terrorist Batman, mindless monster Batman who fought magus Joker in a fantasy land, Nosferatu Batman in Expressionist twenties, evil Batman who fought heroine Catwoman, evil Batman and Catwoman who fought a heroic Police Commish Joker, all of those went by and didn't alter anyone's idea of Batman.

[up]With all those Batmen running around the Multiverse, are we sure non-lethal Batman is even the norm?

To be fair those lethal Batmen were just as expendable as the Dark Multiverse Batman mashups and the most memorable Batmen are still the non-lethal ones like the main Batman, Earth-2 Batman, Adam West Batman & JLU Batman.

Officially Creature Commandos is the first installment of the new DCU.

We don't have a clear air date but apparently it will air in late 2024.

New casting news for Superman

Mikaela Hoover and Christopher Mac Donald have been added to play Cat Grant and Ron Troupe.

Christopher Macdonald is playing Ron Troupe. You have two Steve Lombards there.

So many roles. Some of these have got to be bit parts at best.

The only Christopher McDonald I could find is the 69-year old actor who played mostly supporting roles and the only movie I've watched that had him was Terminal Velocity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_McDonald

If this is indeed him, he also voiced Jor-El in Superman: TAS and JLU. But I'm also drawing blank on anyone specifically spelled Christopher Macdonald.

Yeah, he was in Happy Gilmore and a million other things.

In the 80s and 90s, Macdonald and William Atherton were the go-to actors for a very similiar style of jackass antagonist.

Looking at Ron Troupe in the comics and he's a black guy so unless they're actually racelifting him (and hopefully they don't) most likely the Christopher Macdonald being mentioned is a completely new actor.

EDIT: I found a Hollywood Reporter article that also reported on Christopher Macdonald (though they spell his last name as McDonald) and he is mentioned as being a newcomer.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/james-gunn-daily-planet-superman-1235917555/

Here is the link. And doing a google image search brought me to a threads and instagram post that also mentioned the casting while showing an African-American man (but have his last name spelled as Macdonald).
