I just realized my prologue has nothing to do with my story

So I was rereading my story, and noticed that the prologue doesn't really relate to my main plot line. Instead it focuses on the backstory for my protagonist. While this does inform their character and explains their personality, it's not really relevant to the main story. It only serves to give my protagonist a Freudian Excuse. I'm wondering if I should get rid of the prologue and just tell the audience their backstory in the story.

If you don't think you need it, throw it out. When in doubt, less is more. 99% of the time, weaving backstory and other such information organically into the story proper is the way to go. A little hint here, a little mention there as it becomes relevant.

Yeah, it'd be best to just remove it. Trust me, I once had to unperson an entire character and every POV chapter they had because I decided they didn't fit, so I get it.
