Roma from 2018 was nominated for both last year. Even won Foreign Language Film.
As for the Joker thing it's my current pic for Best Actor and Score.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadJo Jo Rabbit is a comedy about the Hitler youths that’s as dark as you’d expect. There’s a couple of excellent kid actors, Scarlett Johansson is great, and there’s a goofy Hitler imaginary friend.

So when will someone make a page for Judy (2019) I would make it myself but I suck at introductions.
I thought I would make a joke about "let the police do their job" but it appears to be a French meme
.
Or, what I mean is either create the work page or wait forever. This is a wiki so don't be shy, if people are interested they will add content to what you have started.

I'm more than happy to see Jojo Rabbit getting some love. The only really irksome snubs for me are Dafoe not getting a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Lighthouse, and Uncut Gems not getting a Best Actor for Sandler and a Best Sound Editing, because damn, that must have been difficult to pull off from an audio perspective.
I just watched the animated shorts nominees. Shorts.TV is running a theatrical presentation
of the shorts nominees (along with some "acclaimed" subjects to fill out the program).
- "Hair Love": This was my favorite. A young black girl struggles with styling her unruly hair for her visit to her mother who has lost her hair to chemotherapy.
- "Daughter": A woman reflects on her complicated relationship with her dying father.
- "Mémorable": An old painter is descending into dementia.
- "Sister": A man from China talks about his relationship with his sister who never existed due to China's one child policy.
- "Kitbull": A Pixar Spark Short. An abused pitbull finds a friend with a kitten.
This year they seriously leaned into the True Art Is Angsty trope. Usually there are some that have some comedic elements, but this time it was pretty grim for all of them. "Kitbull" and "Hair Love" were ones with reasonably happy endings. "Daughter" is your standard depressing Eastern European film with creepy paper-mache stop-motion dolls.
Almost every year there's a film about someone suffering dementia where it's depicted by Deranged Animation. This year's it's "Mémorable". The art style is interesting (he's a painter, and all the characters look like they're made out of paint strokes), but yeah, it's a downer.

Well I got to see 1917, and at the very least it deserves Best Director and Best Cinematography. It was nothing short of brilliant.
Best Picture will be tough. There’s some non-starters but everything else feels really close this year. There is a running theme of adversity in all the films nominated, via class (Joker, Parasite, The Irishman), the horror of war (1917) and age (Hollywood). I’m going to guess it’s all about execution.
What is everyone's prediction for Best Animated Feature? I hope Klaus wins.
