I've been wondering about this for some time and this seems the place to get some feedback as I'm curious!

My brother and I created an established universe that has many "worlds" (it is a Final Fantasy type fusion of fantasy and science fiction, so the worlds are more like planets that can be visited via star-ships). There is the mortal realm and other, distinct planes of existence belonging to the gods of this universe and other entities, and these can be visited through various means.

Here is where my question begins: There exists a "sealed off" section of the universe/mortal plane that usually cannot be accessed at all. It is similar to the unfinished basement of a house; a void filled with the leftover material the gods used to build the universe. When mortals in the established universe imagine something—-whether it is a hope, an ambition, a dream or a fear or nightmare—-it takes shape and form in this place as a sort of "inferior copy" of the mortal plane. It only lasts just long enough to play out whatever fantasy was in the mind of the person who dreamed it up before it falls apart and returns to the void. The people who live in these fantasy universes are very much sapient and living, though different and subject to whatever the rules exist in the imagination of the person who dreamed them up.

What I'd like to know is that if this is a multiverse or something entirely different? I can provide further details if anyone needs them.
