Inconsistent Mediums/Namespaces Clean-up

As recommended in ATT, a clean-up for namespaces. Many are inconsistently used throughout the site. For example, BadassNormal.Card Games, BigEater.Card Games, and OneWingedAngel.Card Games should be under Tabletop Games.

Common mishaps I've seen are:

• Board Games and Card Games instead of Tabletop Games
• Light Novel not being under Literature
• OEL Manga under Comic Books This one is still up in the air.
• Films vs Film
• Animated films under Western Animation or Anime
• Comic Strips under Newspaper Comics
• Fan Works vs Fanfic vs Fan Fics

Fan Works seem to be the most mixed up. The pages are inconsistently named. Most are under Fan Works but many still haven't been moved from Fan Fics and Fan Fic. For example: GrowingTheBeard.Fan Fics, SmugSnake.Fan Fics, EstablishingCharacterMoment.Fan Fics, FromBadToWorse.Fanfic, OnlyKnownByTheirNickname.Fanfic, RoaringRampageOfRevenge.Fan Fic, AdaptationSpeciesChange.Fan Works, ArcWords.Fan Works, CassandraTruth.Fan Works.

Also, Pro Wrestling and Professional Wrestling (latter is correct as it has more subpages and matches index name).

OEL Manga are western-made comics. Manga is for Japanese-made comics, not Animesque comics. Manhwa is for Korean-made comics, not Animesque comics. Manhua is for Chinese-made comics, not Animesque comics. Webcomic is for internet-published comics, which ignores country of origin. Unless originally published in one of the aforementioned countries, or on the internet, an OEL Manga should be in the Comic Book namespace and the Comicbooks Media folder/subpage.

According to ATT, OEL Manga should be listed under Manga. But a Wiki Talk thread on this issue didn't come to a conclusion. I brought it up again in the WT thread.

I'd like to move a few Fanfics and Fanfic pages to Fan Works. That's the correct namespace, right?

More common errors I've run across:

• Web Serial Novels not being under Literature
• New Media instead of Web Original (or one of its subtypes)
• Web Original instead of the appropriate subtype

SmugSnake.Fan Fics,WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes.Fan Fics, and LightIsNotGood.Fan Fics has been cut and moved. I'm cutting DrivenToSuicide.Fan Fic today.

Many people keep on creating a "Card Games" spot in the examples section. I've asked in ATT and tabletop games (whether it's Candy Land, Chess, Dominos, Dungeons & Dragons, or what) all go under "Tabletop Games".

I will admit that Board and Card games are different things?

Should that be encoded into the namespace system? Perhaps?

We split Video Games and Visual Novels...

Video Games and Visual Novels are already listed separatedly.

Inconsistently, I might note. They're often lumped together on trope pages.

But in any case, it's clear Malady was talking in past tense.

Should Web Original, Web Video, and Web Animation be listed under different sections?

I say so.

Vaguely related to the Animated Films debate, but I'd rather bring it up here:

What counts as Western for the purposes of WesternAnimation/? Is it "everywhere that isn't Asia" or is it more complex than that?

EDIT: The Western Animation page itself says "the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand" (direct quote), but doesn't define "Latin America".

I thought Latin America was defined as containing countries in the Western Hemisphere that predominantly speak Spanish, French, or Portuguese.

There are a few arguments about the precise definition, but for our purposes we should probably define it fairly broadly (Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, South America.)

Is documentaries its own medium? Gentle Giant Sauropod separates them from Film and Live Action TV.

Documentaries are Film, unless produced as a TV series in which case they are Live-Action TV.

An ATT query came up a while back regarding the placement of Web Serial Novels — MaLady and I were under the impression they went under "Literature" in both namespaces and folders, while St Fan was under the impression they went in the Literature namespace but the Web Original folder.

Which of these is correct?

I'll repeat what I said there. They're literature, so they go in Literature/.

Web Video namespace gets misused for pages about Creators of web videos and sometimes Web Animation, and mis-capitalized Webvideo.

For the creator problem, some of them just need some rewrites to make them pages about, say, the works on a particular creator's channel, instead of focusing on the real person creating the videos. (Changing every channel page to the Creator namespace is... impractical.)

By extension, the WebVideo/ problem also applies to LetsPlay/.

Wait... animated films aren’t supposed to be in the Western Animation and Anime namespaces? Because I have not seen a single animated film on this website that isn’t under Western Animation, Anime, or just Animation.

This thread is about the differences between namespaces and folders.

Animated films go in the same namespace as their non-film counterparts, but are supposed to go in a different folder.
