Oh, you're awake. And, oh is that the spark of something in those eyes of yours? Lucky duck. Well in a certain sense of the word.

No no don't worry, memory loss is a given after what you've gone through. Don't worry, there is still a life after this. Come on now, lets get you somewhere safe.

Twenty years ago the first rifts opened around the world, and out from the spilled forth creatures of void, odd and twisted beings that seek out people to devour their Inspiration. Their victims become trapped in a zombie like state, still capable of surviving and acting out basic tasks, but incapable of thinking or feeling.

However there are some who possess a 'core' to their beings, a small bit of their Inspiration that is tied so closely to who they are that the creatures are unable to steal it from them. For some it can be something as simple as a kindness that defined them, or a rage that hung over them like a cloud. These things defined them, but without the rest of their being they now become the only thing that defined them.

Those with this core gain access to an Enlightened State, which expands their core outside of their body and grants them powers which are able to destroy the monsters more effectively then any modern weaponry. These strange abilities come with a a transformed state, sometimes an outfit, and other times a total shift in appearance. They are brought together by the organization known as Ward in order to find the breaches before they happen, and eliminate the creatures that seek to devour the world. And in return those who are Enlightened gain a new place to live. And an even more important detail.

They can steal back bits and pieces from the creatures. Not their own, the chances are less then impossible to become who they were before. But they can add pieces to themselves claw back the chance to live a normal life as a new person.

• Name: Elliot Palmer
• Age: 14
• Appearance: 5'3",◊ and unfortunately not growing any taller. Extremely delicate and thin in build and pretty in features to the point where he has confused many about his gender up until he's found his voice. Dismal and distant in expression; unreadable barring a perpetual state of melancholy.
• Core: Kindness. Elliot is a passive, demure sort, despising confrontation and doing his best to solve as many conflicts as he can peacefully. He regularly prioritizes others over his own self, letting his time be overtaken by their concerns rather than actually care for his physical and mental wellbeing. Though neglecting his own feelings a lot of the time, Elliot's empathy is immensely potent—to the point where it feels like someone being in pain genuinely wounds him. He doesn't seem to differentiate the feelings of people or animals, and it isn't uncommon for him to drop everything he's doing if he feels someone is in need of help. Ironically, however, he is a tad clueless when it comes to social cues, so even if he correctly recognises another person's feelings he could just as easily offend them without realising seconds afterwards. Even so, he is quick to apologise when made aware of this—often going to the opposite extreme in an attempt to make it up to the person he's accidentally offended.
• Enlightened Ability: Empathic Projection. Elliot's sensitivity means his emotions are palpable, and this ability only makes it literal. When feeling strongly for another, Elliot's heartache and intense empathy can be released outwardly in the form of an intangible aura; infusing into those nearby and often manifesting similar feelings into them as well (although ignorable, they can still be startling). This tends to help in his usual aim of dispelling conflict through words and gentle persuasion, but even so it can end up backfiring if he becomes overwhelmed. This aura of benevolence also gives him a remarkable gift in taming animals, which he finds much easier to work with than other humans.
• Enlightened Form: A suit of light, glossy black armour with gold trim that does an exceptional job in covering his vital points and not much else useful. It is primarily an upper chestpiece, arm guards, and leg guards with chainmail to fill in the rest, and is notably designed to look functional over than leaving an impression. Due to Elliot's passive nature and distinct dislike of using weaponry, the suit has an inbuilt alternative—a pair of retractable, circular shields that can form out from his forearms in a flash for defensive purposes. The suit lacks any significant headpiece (Elliot usually prefers to look people in the eyes when he's talking to them), but does feature neck armour that reaches up to frame his face somewhat.
• Misc:
  • Has amassed a rather worrying collection of cats in his time, and even if he can't remember half of their names they all seem adamant on following him around. Elliot tends to spoil them despite his slowly failing health, and dotes on them whenever he gets a minute to spare. As such, they are rather adamant on following him around.

• Name:Fiona Steel
• Age: 29
• Appearance:Ready for action.
• Core: Fiona is incredibly courageous. Particularly in the face of the unknown. She revels in standing up to anything that so much as looks at her funny, and won't hestiate to give them a pounding. She can't stand being seen as timid or weak, and will confront anyone she even suspects of thinking that. Related to her core, she is fiery, bold, and stubborn, and isn't one to back away from a challenge. Consequently, she doesn't have much in the way of restraint or tact, and will always say or do the first thing that is on her mind. Even if doing so is unwise.
• Enlightened Ability: Strength, edurance, and implacability. In her enlightened form, Fiona gains incredibile strength and endurance, though she can still be hurt. In spite of that, she possesses an incredible tenacity, and will keep on going no matter how much damage she takes. Even if doing so would be fatal.

• Name: Akari Uehara
• Age: 21
• Appearance: A young Japanese woman with a dyed blonde streak in her shoulder-length black hair, Akari stands at about 5'7" and has a thin, waifish build, usually complemented by loose-fitting, baggy clothes.
• Core: Suspicion. Akari is constantly suspicious of everyone and everything around her. This paranoia prevents her from taking anyone's words or deeds at face value, causing her to see ulterior motives and conspiracies everywhere she looks. An ironic result of this is that Akari's own words and actions are rarely candid, as she attempts to scheme around this perceived scheming.
• Enlightened Ability: Akari's paranoia manifests itself as a barrier of durable metal shields that rotates around her with only small gaps between them, protecting her from enemies on all sides. Any attack that connects with said barrier is redirected with 1.5 times the force. These shields can also be thrown as a more direct weapon, though doing so leaves holes in her defense.
• Enlightened Form: An outfit resembling those worn by Miko, or shrine maidens, but colored entirely in shades of black and grey and woven out of a mixture of thick, durable cloth and Kevlar over the vital areas.

• Name: Nancy Weaver
• Age: 15
• Appearance: Nancy is a (5 ft. 2 in. 120 lbs.) 15-year-old girl with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair that reaches to her waist. When untransformed, Nancy favors a white T-shirt under a gray zip-up hoodie, tan trousers, white socks with sneakers, and she usually pins her hair in a simple updo with a wooden hairstick. Nancy also wears black rectangular wire-rimmed glasses.
• Core: Intelligence/Cleverness. Nancy used to be a stellar student before the void creatures got to her, and basically defined her life by that fact. Now that she is defined by this one attribute, Nancy is coldly logical in her dealings with people, despite being able to imitate emotions in order to put people at ease. Nancy still retains her moral compass, though sometimes she may disregard it in favor of more logical actions.
• Enlightened Ability: Nancy gains an oversized, uncannily sharp needle that can be used as a rapier and the ability to summon/use strong razor wire. If one looks closely, the wire is somewhat bluish in color, and can be attached to the eye of the needle (to retrieve the needle once it has been thrown forward). Nancy herself is not affected by the sharpness of the threads, and can in fact balance on them. However, she considers it the height of irony that she cannot actually mend anything with her needle and thread.
• Enlightened Form: When transformed, Nancy wears a white short-sleeved button-up shirt under a leather jerkin, a white frilly knee-length underskirt, a dark blue knee-length overskirt, woolen knee-high socks under knee-high leather boots, a white mob cap with a dark blue ribbon tied in a bow, leather fingerless gloves, and a belt for her needle-rapier. Her hair is also let down.
