Seeing one of those situations here where the definition of a trope with broad applications is being artificially restricted by an unnecessary The Same, but More Specific-type clause:

The requirement that there be a full-blown crossover excludes cases where two related works make mutual appearances in ways that raise the associated ontological questions.

Examples:

  • the one that made me notice this, a trope finder request combining this with Celebrity Paradox, where Blizzard studios and Starcraft exist in the Overwatch uninverse, but did not create Overwatch there.
  • several authors, such as Stephen King and Wildbow imply that their stories "bleed through" into each other's universes in the form of fiction- for instance alternate versions of Wildbow's works appear in each others' universes, Word of God being that it's via the "visions of another world" flavor of the Literary Agent Hypothesis. (In Twig there's penny dreadful-type series that are clearly Worm and Pact, for instance)

The first case (as written, I don't play any Blizzard games) is outright not Mutually Fictional as there is no "mutual" involved.
