Outdated Administrivia Pages

I guess that can be done... I generally don't think exceptions should be done unless it's literally impossible (like a Def-only page) or there's actual demand, but sometimes it just can't really happen.

I noticed that WMG.TV Tropes is one of the few pages that still links to YKTTW. It still mentions It Just Bugs Me! as well. Is there a reason for this? I considered updating it but I want to make sure it wasn't grandfathered in first.

It's probably because most of the TVT-specific subpages are woefully outdated. But being WMG, I'm not sure it's a big deal. (This thread is for Administrivia, either way.)

Since this perennially comes up on ATT, can something like this be added to How to Create a Work's Page:

that'd be totally fine. Same thing happens with recap pages.

TV Tropes Customs contains this bullet regarding TLP:

1. It's considered rude to launch a TLP that someone else started. However, the main exception is if it's Up for Grabs — that's a notification from the Troper who started it that anyone else can launch it if it's ready. You can also launch it if the sponsor hasn't edited the draft for at least two months. If you mislaunch a trope like this, you court the fiery wrath of the other TLPers.

This is highly misleading — you still can't just launch a trope whose sponsor has gone missing. We'd change it to something more like

1. It's considered rude to make substantial edits without permission to a TLP that someone else is sponsoring — and doubly so to launch one. However, if it's Up for Grabs — either there's a notification from the sponsor that they aren't planning to handle it themself, or the sponsor hasn't edited the draft for at least two months — you can adopt the trope, becoming the new sponsor. You still can't just launch it willy-nilly, but you can get to work on making it launchable.

TV Tropes Customs isn't locked for some reason, so we can edit that in ourselves, but we'll wait a bit for possible further feedback before we actually do.

Yes, no issues there really.

Also, the Three Rules of Three doesn't mention about stealth launches and rogue launches that had been implemented over time when it comes to the "Three Days Before Launch" part. It feels like some tropers are getting conflicted with this rule.

Yeah, we should fix those things.

I'm wondering if Edit War needs a clarity update. People manage to read the page and yet still misinterpret what counts as an Edit War.

I think clarifying what counts as an edit war would help, since a lot of what looks like Rules Lawyering related to edit wars could possibly because the people doing it legitimately didn't know better instead of it being done out of malice.

Sorry that I didn't see this thread in a while. I asked to add the 64-characters thing to the work pages, added the customs thing, and started Sandbox.Edit War to get some things done.

It's been brought up on Administrivia.Namespace's discussion that Home Pages redirect to the main home page, making it useless as an index for different language/JFF home pages. I can try to replicate it from history on Administrivia.Home Pages? Or would List Of Home Pages be better (I don't feel like using Administrivia/ for main wiki content fits, and "list of" in names is frowned upon, but Home Pages Index won't work)?

As brought up by ~Mightymewtron in another discussion, Welcome to TV Tropes seems to have some weird, out-of-date and unclear things on it. Let's figure out how to fix it.

Yes, my specific concern was the "Rules and Policies" section suggesting that we not care about old pages having rule-violating content on them, even linking to MST3K Mantra:

• Most of the other tips are just guidelines. There are a few pages that are Just for Fun or very old that violate the guidelines. Don't worry about it.

I get the Grandfather Clause issue, but it's flat-out untrue to act like we never fix up old pages. Idea on how to rewrite:

• Most of the other tips are just guidelines. Certain pages, such as Just for Fun, may enforce these rules less strictly, though that's not to say anything goes there. Some older pages may also violate the current rules. We encourage tropers to clean them up, but some things (like trope names) are too ingrained in the site's culture to fully redo.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to do there.

Er... that should say more leniently (or alternatively, less strictly), not less. If things were enforced less leniently on Just for Fun, nobody would think of it as the "anything goes" part of the site.

(I personally think TLP is the least lenient part of the site due to the high learning curve, which is why I don't usually go there.)

I don't think it was really good, as I didn't intend to change much, mostly the last sentence, and haven't really thought much about it:

Most of the other tips are just guidelines. There are a few pages that are Just For Fun or very old that violate them. A lot of those should be cleaned/deleted, but don't worry too much if it's not a serious issue.
