Can someone explain how the titular Boys are a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits? I believe they are but I don't not know how to explain it.
I'm putting this question in spoiler text just to be relatively safe for those who have only watched the show.
Was Homelander in the comics bisexual or was he just getting off on abusing and manipulating people?
The latter primarily, he's just the kind of asshole who gets off on sexually abusing people, with gender not really coming into it.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Sounds closer to pansexuality, then if gender doesn't have any meaning to him.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. When he rapes Soldier-Boy I believe he uses the logic of "Come on man its not gay. We're just too famous people hanging out. Totally not sex at all."
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's not even as much sex/gender as it is a power/control one. He's not sexually attracted to any of his victims, he gets off on bring able to do whatever he wants to whoever he wants. I wouldn't call it pansexuality as I don't see the actual sex as his motive/pleasure.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."He's just a rapist. Rape is about power not attraction.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. The Boys will be getting a spin-off, set at a college for superheroes.
I wonder if it will be the X-men parody.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I hope they display a similar reverence as they did to the main series - i.e. not a bit, and make some changes.
The comics version is so mean spirited and unnecessarily unpleasant it's ridiculous, and not in a fun way.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Maybe fun was a bad word, but kind of? When it's horrible people doing horrible things to each other it can genuinely be played for comedy, albeit pretty dark humour, as they more or less deserve it. It's very hard to successfully do, but can be done.
The Boys (comic version) seems to have been going for this tone but missed and dived straight into the Eight Deadly Words by the end of the first arc. The X-Men "parody" was just even worse.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."It basically goes to the other end of the extreme of saccharine sweetness by portraying characters that are unbelievably over the top vile.
A good point of contrast is comics A-Train and show A-Train where the comic version is just a cackling rapist and the show version is an actual character.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."One of my friends said that the show is 50% Ennis.
50% Ennis is a brutal takedown of celebrity culture, American exceptionalism, religious fundamentalism, and superheroes as a sacred cow.
100% Ennis is pure misanthropy straight to the vein.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Ennis is quite similar to Mark Millar in that both are capable of writing bleak and dark but still readable stuff but left to their own devices both tend to go way too far.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I love this show's marketing.
It's a shame that the Deep has turned back to Oceanland for help after everything that happened.

The cold never bothered me anywayThat ending really got me
Children of Dievas - my webcomic about the Northern CrusadesIt's actually kinda funny how they had The Deep advertising a real product.
The cold never bothered me anywayMan I still want to learn what’s up with Neumann. Hugh looks spiffy in that suit!
The writers and producers have also clearly taken a bite at the hand that feeds them, what with Vought having bought a premium grocery chain...

Taking a little jab at What If, they have swapped the Boys with the 7. Hughie makes a surprisingly convincing Homelander tbf.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's that time of the month for another Seven on Seven.
These are absolutely amazing. Even the adverts. That whole "Brave Maeve" bit feels horribly plausible.
