Yeah, maybe we should. I edited the crowner out of my previous post just in case.
Splitting would probably be best done with a crowner, but regular discussion would probably be better for figuring out the definition(s).

2 ÷ 0Yeah, this trope is like two tropes in one:
- A machine going haywire and murderous.
- The actual phrase "Crush.Kill.Destroy." and similar as uttered by murderous machines
Memers also suggested Kill Mode Switch, which I can get behind with.
Not just by machines, mind controlled people do it too among other assorted examples.
Troping "the actual phrase" would make it a stock phrase, so that's probably a no-go.
Current Project: The TeamIts not an 'actual phrase'. In fact I dont think any examples on the page actually use the exact phrase at all.
Its more the single word commands, when written down they are almost always in ALL CAPS. Its closely related to Madness Mantra and Hulk Speak.
Typically used by Robots when something overrides their base personality but also mind controlled people, berserkers, and people with limited faculties.

Is this for secret options or glitches or both?
I'm also thinking "Berzerk Bot" "Blue Screen of Murder" "Haywire and Homicidal" "Genocidal Glitch"
"No Chicken, No Check in" -Phil KeoghanOh, for the Kill Mode Switch idea, we already have Morality Dial, so that might not be needed.
Good find!
AI going haywire is covered under A.I. Is a Crapshoot. It would be a lot of work to move examples to a "murderous malfunctioning machine" Sub-Trope because they make up a large proportion of the trope.
Right, like the on-page Doctor Who examples of Dalek (EXTERMINATE!) and Cybermen (DELETE!), which aren't AI at all.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Only renaming has a positive ratio. Is that option safe to call, or does it need more votes?
2 ÷ 0Yeah, time to call. Let's gather up some name ideas.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSince several names were already suggested, I compiled them into a crowner (the II is because I started from scratch instead of dusting off my edited-out crowner from before):
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php/AlternativeTitles/CrushKillDestroyII?open=all
2 ÷ 0It's hooked.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSo... We're just going to eliminate the "chants of violence" examples to make a new A.I. Is a Crapshoot subtrope?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Examples can still have chants of violence. We're just getting rid of examples that reference the current name's stock phrase without actually being examples of the trope (of which there are a lot on the main trope page, plus plenty of ZCEs that may or may not be actual examples).
Also, this post from naturalironist covered how this might not necessarily overlap with A.I. Is a Crapshoot.

2 ÷ 0Bump for votes. Currently, Murderous Malfunctioning Machine has 7 yeas and no nays.
2 ÷ 0Please re-read this section of the linked post: Edit: this doesn't appear to be how A.I. Is a Crapshoot is actually used, but I think it could be a useful distinction.
On-page Doctor Who examples of Dalek (EXTERMINATE!) and Cybermen (DELETE!), are chants of violence but not robots at all. This is misuse if our definition is "murderous malfunctioning machine".

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWhile doing Suddenly Voiced wick cleaning, I finally remembered that this needed moving. Well, finally did that.
Only 314 wicks to move or remove.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThis is worrisome. Most of the wicks I have done amount to a robot going into a rampage with no note of defect. Some instances have the robots rewired to become killers.
Perhaps the rewiring/reprogramming could go into a new trope...if we don't have it already.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIn that case, you might want to list the examples on a sandbox page, so that you can send it to TLP if we don't have the trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWouldn’t that be Killer Robot?
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"We could see about that.
Thinking of a subtrope of that: those that weren't Killer Robots at first. Then again, we could broaden that to other purposes of reprogramming.
Anyways, to update: the trope had a Pantheon deity, but decided it'll be kept, as the portfolio mentions it being a rogue AI.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportOkay, that's been set up. Name is not final, obviously.

Crown Description:
Crush Kill Destroy is a frequently misused Stock Phrase-based trope. What should be done with it?
Shouldn't we actually get a crowner on exactly what this is and if we want to split things off first?
We have like 3 different ideas floating here and the examples are covering all of those things.
