The Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment exists to prevent tropers from making agenda-based edits or bringing up irrelevant controversial issues, but it's not always obvious if something breaks the rule or not. This thread serves the purposes of:
- Getting consensus on cutting overly controversial edits.
- Rewriting biased examples to be more neutral.
- Pre-emptively clarifying if a possible example actually violates the rule, or if it's okay to add.
- Making sure that the rule isn't just being used as an excuse to write a Zero-Context Example ("Some people think that X is Y, and that's all we have to say about it.")
See also the thread "Trump and ROCEJ" for the specific topic of tropers sneaking their political views (not just views regarding Donald Trump, despite the title) onto the wiki.
See Pages Attracting Edits That Promote Bigotry for pages that attract ROCEJ violations that are bigoted in nature.

Yeah that seems cut-worthy. There's literally a character page for the program, consisting almost entirely of the aforementioned 4chan trolls. I think it's alright to nuke the page.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallCheck out this gem from the Real Life section of No Punctuation Period, an Examples Are Not General violation with bad sub-bulleting and some ableist- or racist-sounding entries.
- There are a few reasons why people on the internet would type without punctuation nowadays:
- They're in a hurry. Why waste the time with the extra keystrokes? Because punctuation doesn't matter as long as you get your message across, once the reader has decoded it.
- They simply don't have a grasp on proper sentence structure.
- They wish to put across the impression of being purely apathetic. You know, in order to look cool. On the internet.
- They wish to convey another atypical emotion, demonstrated through the tone in which one interprets their sentence structure, like in the meme phrase "What is this I don't even".
- They genuinely do not care.
- They were idiots.
- They have dyslexia.
- They're on a mobile phone, game console or other device, and do not have a full keyboard to type on. These devices may rely on a small keypad with only letters, numbers and a space, with punctuation relegated to special key combinations that are too annoying to bother with.
- They are typing in a language other than their native tongue, and are thus not aware of the rules of punctuation in the first place, especially if (as noted above) their own only punctuates sparingly / not at all.
- They're writing something that's short, such as "thank you", and thus have no need to separate different thoughts and sentences.
- Deliberate provocation for personal amusement. This is the Internet, after all...
At the very least get rid of the racist/ableist stuff. Probably the rest of the entry can go or at least be rewritten.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallNone of that needs to stay. It's all general examples even when it's not conflating being dyslexic or foreign with being an "idiot."
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Ah, OK, then it can all be cut.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThe first entry on Headscratchers.Epic Rap Battles Of History has ROCEJ linked. Is it valid in this case, since it involves politics?
It's just a pointless sinkhole. The entry seems mostly fine since it's discussing the point of view of the work.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The entry also has a commented out note that says "We're leaving it at that. If something is incorrect, then correct it. Repair Don't Respond. "
I think that's fine.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I forget, is Headscratchers one of the places we allow Conversation in the Main Page? Cause if not, that aspect needs to be dealt with anyway. oh yeah the page specifically calls out headscratchers nvm

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I mean, even so, there's a bit of a limit for Headscratchers.
Rock'n'roll never dies!I found this in Brigid Tenenbaum's folder on Characters.BioShock 1 and I'm concerned about the bolded part.
- Hollywood Autism: Word of God confirms that she has autism (quite possibly Asperger's Syndrome.) To that end, she's been a scientific prodigy ever since she was a little girl, but she has very little in the way of social skills and exhibits very little emotion at all; the other characters, while appreciating her scientific innovations, find her creepy and off-putting. Perhaps most problematically is that she's depicted as having few if any reservations about doing heinous things like working with the Nazis and performing human experimentations (real-life autistic people tend to have a very strong conscience,) but unlike other stereotypical depictions of autistic people, Tenenbaum is not incapable of feeling guilt for her actions.
Speaking as someone both diagnosed with Asperger's and who likes the BioShock series, this feels like trying to insert an uncited Unfortunate Implications entry on a character page, and "problematic" is prime Weasel Words.
Keet cleanupNothing overtly implicates her autism with her crimes. Besides there are plenty of non-autistic characters in that game who do similarly heinous things. Cut it for being a case of speculative troping at the least.

Plus, while obviously most autistic people aren't okay with Nazi experiences, implying we all "tend to have very strong consciences" is in itself making a generalization.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Well said!
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdI cut it down to this, cutting out the speculative parabombing about Asperger's and removing the Word of God link since it's trivia and technically shouldn't be linked on work or character pages. I'm aware some people dislike "high-functioning"/"low-functioning" labels, but that's what the interview uses.
- Hollywood Autism: An interview with Ken Levine confirms that she has high-functioning autism. To that end, she's been a scientific prodigy ever since she was a little girl, but she has very little in the way of social skills and exhibits very little emotion at all; the other characters, while appreciating her scientific innovations, find her creepy and off-putting.
Found this on NightmareFuel.SCP Foundation SC Ps1000to 1999, which might be a ROCEJ violation for including recent political controversies irrelevant to the original example.
For context, SCP-1730 was first published in 2015. The last part of the saga was, to my memory, written some time before Manafort was implicated. Note that Manafort is portrayed as unambiguously evil in 1730's narrative, although, again, this is without knowledge of his real-world actions.
- SCP-1730:
- [...]
- The Harsher in Hindsight trope even applies here. How? One major figure involved in the merging of the GOC and the Foundation was GOC Secretary General Paul Manafort, former Bob Dole staffer (Dole became president in the other timeline). Considering how flagrantly corrupt he was exposed as being in 2018 (most infamously lobbying for pro-Putin interests and has been linked with Russian operations to tip the scales of the 2016 USA presidental election in favor of Donald Trump) and going to jail as a result, the idea of the guy being Secretary General of the GOC is horrifying, and Dr. Scott believes he was The Man Behind the Man for Emerson's atrocities, explictly links him as the cause of the whole catastrophe, and that Emerson was terrified of him. Considering what we actually know of Manafort and his activities in real life (aka a greedy corrupt scumbag willing to work for dictators and oligarchs for lots of cash), it's not hard to see this as a plausible result of him being in an actual position of power rather than simply being a lobbyist and advisor.
Thoughts?

"If you spent as much time fightin' as ye did hidin', maybe this wouldn't have happened!"oh boy, where do i even start with this?
long story short, hololive (a Japanese streamer group) recently disbanded their Chinese branch because of a Taiwan-related incident, and in the aftermath of that, people on 4chan and Reddit are starting to figure out that maybe said Chinese branch isn't as apolitical as they painted themselves to be when they streamed in English, with at least one of them suspected of having condoned cyberbullying against a Hong Kong politician back in 2016.
i don't even know where to begin keeping this in a neutral tone, since all of the """""evidence""""" so far is random deleted posts from Chinese social media and a video possibly taken out of context, whose translators may or may not have an agenda themselves. it seems like the regular editors there want to file this whole debacle under Broken Base, which is about the only thing that makes sense in this mess given the polarizing reactions to this "news" (or whatever you wanna call this nonsense).
weaponizing Dungeon Fighter Online elitism since 2018I'm actually going to completely disregard the ROCEJ here and simply note that the entire point appears to be entirely about Fridge Horror, which is an automatic cut right there.
To say nothing of the fact that it's apparently Harsher in Hindsight misuse. Idiot troper bingo!

The following was added to the Cyberpunk page today:
I'm guessing the Trump, COVID and BLM mentions are violations?

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellIt's fair to mention that political discontent has to do with the rise of cyberpunk, but outright saying "we're living in a dystopia" is too inflammatory.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Not to mention inaccurate from a technical standpoint. note
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo cut or rewrite?
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellJust axe the last sentence and we're good.
That name rings a bell. I think it's been brought up before... although if it was a cut attempt God alone knows how it survived, because I'm not seeing anything salvageable there.
