The Assassins Pride adaptation did cut out some scenes though, like when MC gives her a drug made from his blood to awaken her mana though. An illegal drug that could have killed her.

…That's a pretty huge detail to ommit. ò.Ô

[up][up] Yeah, the "smelling a delicious herbivore" scene in Beastars was a bit over-the-top. tongue

edit: Damn page toppers.

Ya get used to the melodrama in Beastars.

It becomes rather charming in a Narm Charm way.

I mean, he did give her a drug after telling her that he has a way to awaken her mana that might kill her. Followed by narration about how he'd be in huge trouble if anyone found out

[up][up] Oh I know. I'm pretty sure that X-ray shot of the smell inflaming Legoshi's brain wasn't in the manga though.

Well that's thorough. surprised And I had completely missed that we briefly saw AMD 00 during Rikka's escape…

No Guns Life: Oh, I like this! It exudes so much of that distinct 90s grittiness that they could almost have gone the Megalo Box route to add an extra layer. It doesn't get more noir than this. It helps that I like the protagonist a lot − the little bits of comedy work wonders without breaking the tone too much.

Rifle is Beautiful is just really generic. Not going to watch

So I'm definitely following Assassins Pride, Babylon, and Beastars. Re:RISE, Azur Lane, Babylonia, Tokunana, Noukin, and Z/X will depend on the next week

Did a page for Case File nº221: Kabukicho.

If I can, I'll do Babylon and Special Unit 7.

Did a forum thread for Kabukicho Sherlock.

It's an original, so better give or take a few episodes. Some of the changes made are in consideration to the Japanese setting is my take. Also they kept the names (e.g. Sherlock, Watson and Moriaty are given to Caucasian-looking men).

I'd recommend it if you have at least seen an adaption of Sherlock or like detective shows. I've been familiar with bits of the novels and I've seen Elementary before I watched it.

Both of those things are true, I think, so perhaps I will, then.

I like Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! so far, it looks good (if not original) and feels a bit like Slime (both in concept and kind of humour).

Some of the jokes may grow old quickly, I will see.

I think No Guns Life is a little difficult to process tonally because the protagonist's character design is such a ridiculous, on-the-nose parody of his archetype, and yet he and the rest of the show are played relatively straight. It's like a shonen fighting series where the protagonist is a self-help manual that knows kung fu.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Rifle is Beatiful! And pretty boring too. I guess it's cute and all, but it tries so hard to tick boxes that it forgets to have a heart. I could praise it for having a haf-Russian girl who isnt platinum-haired… but that's because the cast already includes a Rei clone (albeit a slightly quirky one). And unfortunately, I don't really care much about competitive shooting either. Pass.

It actually makes me appreciate Saikoro Club more by comparison. Sure, the characters are achetypal, but the show makes the best out of them. And I must say that the inclusion of a male character in the regular cast is a bit refreshing − he's pretty funny too.

Stars Align is definitely one of the best shows of the season. If you've got any love in your heart for prestige high-school drama, give it a go.

This is admittedly more of a Summer anime, but I'm really glad I caught up with Dr Stone. It's definitely a shonen and has some issues - the weird baby-seal faces on the female characters comes to mind - but I'm really enjoying the whole 'primitive survival' aspect to it. It scratches the same itch as those "we dropped a man in a jungle to make his own shelter for 30 days" infotainment shows.

It's been fun.

[up] I watched the first few episodes with my anime club a few weeks back, and actually found myself enjoying it. The biggest issue was how illogical the main villain was. Sure, the "evil" adults are going to rule the world with their money after it most likely disingrated over time, and there's no such thing as an economy anymore.

I bet my entire bank account this dumbass was actually flunking classes back before the world turned to stone.

Actually he's highly intelligent last I checked in the manga, but his plan was so dumb. So DUMB.

I stopped reading it awhile ago. I found an artstyle that makes me incapable of getting into something and that was Doctor Stone.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

[up][up] I think it’s less that they’ll use preexisting money and more that they’ll go around starting all that up again.

Weirdly, I actually found myself agreeing with Tsukasa fairly early on. Before it becomes clear that what he's after is pretty much just a blunt weapon of a Noble Savage society, at least. Sure, young people can be just as shitty as old people, but.

That said, the fact that everyone is, or at least can be, conscious in those statues makes it a much more clear-cut case that freeing everyone who can be freed is a moral imperative.

^Yeah, that was my reading too. The whole 'this used to be my land' argument Tsukasa gives.

I briefly entertained that reading, but I figure it was still stupid on the grounds of how long it would take to do so, and that it would be easy to overpower the adults. Not to mention it's a question of whether they would even live long. Japan's population is on the older side from what I understand, so they would probably die out in a week due lack of healthcare and other issues.

Well, that is the other concern, really. It's never touched on (in the anime, at least), but while even someone like Senku, who appears to be Hollywood out-of-shape, can easily find food, resources are hugely important, and a lot of the people who would be around to be revived (myself included!) would be pure liabilities in the stone world, just in terms of resource consumption versus contribution.

Edit: Sorry if this is too one-specific-topic for the general seasonal thread, but I don't know how spoiler-heavy the Dr Stone thread is or if it's manga-only, so.
