[up] Hell, it makes me wonder if Obediah was involved with Tony's parents deaths in the Sacred Timeline as well. It would make him an even more personal enemy for him than we even expected...

Given that the point of divergence seems to be Alexi refusing his mission from the opening of Black Widow, the implication seems to be very heavily Stane ratted Howard out to the soviets in the sacred timeline, and GOT AWAY WITH IT. Outrageously evil.

Really enjoyed this one. As did my wife who hadn't even seen Black Widow.

Also, with this episode taking place in December, I assume this is the obligatory Christmas episode (though there's only one minor mention when Bill Foster says he doesnt know what to get his wife for Christmas).

I believe I either theorized that Stane was tied to Howard's death or that he was part of Hydra.

This episode seems to hint at the former, and it's not out of the question either.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but the Red Room is working with Hydra? Wasn't the whole opening scene of Black Widow about them stealing the Winter Soldier brainwashing tech from Shield/Hydra?

Wow Party City Thor's party in Season 1 was a hell of a First Contact that beat Zefram Cochraine's First Contact with the Vulcans.

This episode was enjoyable but I would have preferred an actual what if story instead of a sequel to the party Thor episode about Howard and Darcy's magic hybrid baby.

The theme of this season seems to be "how can we give lesser characters the spotlight through amusing, sudden buddy dynamics" more than "how can we create interesting lore for the events that came before."

I can't deny the visual splendor from episode to episode or the diverse art styles, and you get a feeling of nostalgia with the cast they bring back.

But looking at the first 2 episodes what I asked was why would Bruce happen to be doing cardio on a day Sam was around? Wasn't Bruce hanging out with Tony during this period? And why would Agatha decide to be interested in a Celestial or even know of them. Why would Howard be working in show business rather than science? Doesn't that have ramifications on the timeline?

The trade-offs are the Marvel universe taking on the mecha genre and doing a pretty bombastic dance number. I would ask why Agatha become or even is a good dancer... I guess she's already a damned good singer so, sure. The animation of that sequence is stunning, and the unique clash between an alien robot and a witch is fun. Though why can Agatha absorb them, I thought she specifically absorbed magic? Also, Agatha All Along seemed to imply that the energy she absorbs can run out and needs to be topped off, so if she took the Eternals powers A) why are they alive because every other instance she did this she seemingly killed her victims, and B) how on earth did she take down Thena and Ikaris, and in a timeframe so fast that her new power didn't run out??

Apparently being the Coney Island Hero and having a friendship with Red Guardian is enough to shake off Bucky's brainwashing, but not Bucky's literal best friend. XD. And this season is sick with synergy - come on, two stories with Red Guardian, one with Harkness, two with Sam and Bucky so far. Nothing to do with Thunderbolts or Brave New World or Agatha All Along, certainly.

I feel like this season's format has the genre informing the story rather than the story exploring a new genre.

But whatever, nobody cares about how much a hypothetical scenario makes sense or how grounded it is. Having giant robot Avengers, and a giant cosmic Agatha have a fist fight with an alien god, and Guardian photo-bombing one of the MCU's most iconic lineups, is unquestionably fun. Taking one of the characters I liked the least in Eternals and giving them a vital role in such a divergent story is neat too I guess.

I don't know how Agatha and Kingo's story will tie into the finale, but I guess we're running towards the Watchers ganging up on The Watcher and a team up between Storm Thor, Cosmic Agatha, Kahhori, and Captain Carter.

Which Vulcans? The "Hey, we just saw your ship and came by to say 'Hi,' Vulcans or the "Stupid monkies - we know more than you" Vulcans?

I loved the fourth episode. It is a silly fun cameo fest, but it has a heart. I was watching it while my 2,5 year old daughter was napping in her room and all felt good and right.

And I didn't like Party Thor's episode from season 1, so this is a nice surprise.

I especially enjoyed Malekith (that was obviously not Christopher Eccleston) and Kaecilius getting into a shoving match. Aren't they considering two of the most boring villains in the Infinity Saga?

Now that I think about it, we know why Kaecilius wanted the kid (vessel for Dormammu) and Fury was just trying to keep it out of worse bad guys hands due to thinking the stakes were way too high for Darcy and Howard), but why did everyone else want the kid?

[up] Malekith believed that since the kid was born during the Convergence then the baby can be used as his power source for his evil plan in place of the Reality Gem. Ebony Maw somehow convinced Thanos of the baby's potential or something like that. Laufey assumed he can use the egg to give Jotunheim a military edge. Grandmaster, Collector and Zeus probably just heard about a superpowerful egg and thought it'd be neat to have.

Speaking of the egg, the subtitles called the baby Byrdie and the only name I could find in Marvel was the Mutant supervillain named Birdy who was the only telepath/empath who could calm Sabertooth down to the point he became addicted to her Mutant power. And yes, she's also 1 of Krakoa's many many redemption success stories.

One thing that especially made this episode Star Trek-esque is the fact that in this universe Skrulls are openly serving in SHIELD.

Fun episode, a way better use of endless cameos than the series two finale.

Was not expecting Party Thor to get a sequel. Maybe there is hope yet for the 80s avenger episode to get a follow up. Though it would require What If to be picked up again.

I get why the Earth couldn't be destroyed destroyed in the latest episode cause otherwise they'd have to find a new planet to have plots on, but it's kinda funny that no matter how bad things get there's always enough survivors to make things interesting. And enough oxygen, food, and water.
