While I don't mind it personally, I wouldn't be surprised if there are people who dislike Zenitsu's design.

In a related note, I really dig the series' aesthetics. I love how there are sufficiently advanced technology that isn't too advanced that using sword as the main weapon isn't too strange.

Basically, it reminds of Rurouni Kenshin.

The only thing that bothers me about the art in this series is that almost every character looks really young barring like Ginyuu, the Wind and Rock Pillars, the main villian whom I always forget the name of, and a small few others pretty much.

It's a bit odd sometimes as I can't really tell the ages of the maincast, I am assuming they are all teenagers actually, including possibly Nezuko but how smol they are still makes me wonder if they are actually pre-teens or something.

Which would be kind of tragic that the demon problem is so bad that really young kids are being sent to kill or be killed by them.

Everyone also looks short & small.

Like most of the Pillars have rather small proportioned limbs.

Yeah, a lot of the character's age are a bit hard to tell from the designs. The main chara are all teenagers. Zenitsu is 16, tanjiro and inosuke is 15, nezuko is 14. Giyuu is 21, shinobu is 18. Himejima(stone hashira) is the oldest hashira at 27. Tokito (mist hashira) is the youngest hashira at 14.

Jeeze that is still really young for such a dangerous and horrific job.

I think the Everyone looks really young thing isn't helped by the fact most of the demons we have seen in the anime were pretty young themselves with their bodies changed from eating people.

And despite that this series feels less ridiculous with its child soldiers than Twin Star Exorcist which had a 14 year-old already leading squadrons of grown adults & achieving his clan head power already at that point.

Well, considering the real life Okita Souji had already mastered his schools techniques at the tender age 18, its hardly surprising that the prodigal young swordsmen archetype often appear in samurai themed stories

Yeah, I'd expected the Pillars to be mostly 25 or older. I did find them being so young a bit odd.

For tokito there is a reason, as he is considered a natural genius.

I think the weirdness varies depending on how desperate the organization is.

Like if the organization already has a great deal of adult soldiers with a lot of resources then having child leaders is weird but the Hunters here tend to drop like flies & they feel sorta strained in their capacity for hunting.

Tellingly when when Muzan was told a Pillar was killed he didn't give a crap. Pillars have high death toll so killing them no longer impresses him.

Rock pillar is the longest active Pillar, and he only 27 and only been a pillar for 8 years. That how fast pillar die.

And the only reason he survived that long is because of his own incredible skills and natural talent. Lets face it, not all slayers can become like him. There's a reason he is the strongest hashira.

Well demon slaying has a high mortality rate and this is a time period where kids tend to start doing physical labour relatively early so that might explain it a bit

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys

Also keep in mind that the series tends to be relatively grounded when it comes to physical capabilities.

By which I mean even if they don't die on the job, the Pillars probably never stick around past their late twenties, the same age most professional athletes start retiring.

Well, closest real-life equivalents I can think of are UFC fighters and special force operators, and both of them, their peak is the early thirties, while retirement age is around late thirties.

Or, if we are talking about fighters who spend their entire lives fighting and go through borderline physically abusive training from very young age without proper medical and mental care, we can turn to muay thai fighters in Thailand, who start fighting as early as 12 and 13, retiring by 25.

Also the demon slayer training, especially the Breath Style push the human body beyond it limit. I definitely not healthy for the body in the long run.

Which I find amusingly ironic, because I've practiced several martial arts (taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, etc) and usually the purpose of breathing is to make sure your body is NOT overexerted. [lol]

I think the purpose of the Breath Style is to put the body into the state their in when their life is endanger. Only at that state could a human gain an edge against a demon. But our body wasn't designed to handle that kind of stress so frequently so it really bad for the body in the long run.

Honestly, Breath Style seems more like Hamon/Ripple from Jojo series and does whatever the hell it needs for the plot and fight scene. [lol]

Kinda… Hell, remember when you were a teen and tried to imitate the Kamehameha from DBZ of the hand signs from Naruto? Lately I sometimes find myself trying to imitate the KNY breathing style like an idiot. This show's having a bad influence on me.

(I haven't developped super strength yet, sadly)

The series starts to rely more on strategy and teamwork as they start to fight the upper moons, who are practically impossible to kill by just spamming breath techniques

Heh, during my boxing sessions, I actually imagine myself becoming stronger through Breathing Style.

Of course, then I realize boxing is far too fast-paced to allow deep breathing as I get punched right in the solar plexus. [lol]

With that said, Breathing Style-like breathing is helpful for recharging stamina in a short span of time. [lol]
