Lately, we've been having some trouble with pages in the Roleplay/ namespace, and much debate over how to handle said pages. Problems include:
- Auto-Erotic Troping
- Major problems with example context
- The difficulty cleaning up or verifying the content on said pages, often due to these roleplays being private or otherwise inaccessible
In this thread, we will discuss and clean-up these works so they conform to the rules of the wiki, and can be understood by any reader regardless of whether or not they take part in the roleplay.
Here are some useful sandboxes for our cleanup effort:
- How to Clean a Roleplay - a sandbox guide to determining availability of, locating, and cleaning up pages to roleplays.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread is used for sorting pages after we examine them, whether they've been cleaned, cut, or shelved, and anything in-between.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread Indexing is used after a cleaned and verified page has been added to the first sandbox. We try to add these pages to our indexes, with the plan to create actual indexes later on.

See, I disagree with Does This Remind You of Anything? having sufficient context because it's only a quote- it doesn't actually explain anything about the context for said quote.
Anyway, I moved over tropes that I think are salvagable from Characters.Project Genesis (which I feel now can be cut) over to Roleplay.Project Genesis, rewriting a couple based on what I could glean from the ZCE tropes on the page. Thoughts?
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobThough I still think City with No Name is funny, I'm unsure if it can be considered contextual.
Anyway, the page does look a lot better now. I was too quick on the draw to suggest we cut it wholesale, I guess.
edit: tried to ping to get the cut declined but I wrote the name wrong so whoops
So, in the meantime, any thoughts on Cumberholmes Roleplay Twitter Community? Just looking at it hurts my brain. I wanted to wait for Macron before touching it, but I want a second opinion on if it's worth trying to salvage, or if it should be cut. I don't know what tropes have context because I haven't had the patience to read everything.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWe could use some vocabulary to refer to "an edit made to a page that changes page content that isn't merely cutting misuse, repairing links, removing nonexistent links, or fixing formatting or grammar".
When looking at pages with like 95% ZCE but still the minimum of tropes, might we consider other factors such as inbounds, quality of grammar and formatting, and recent insert-above-quotation edits?

Yeah, I do think there are some pages that, though salvageable, aren't contributing anything, and would be better off just cut. If nobody who'd edited the page in the last several years bothered to fix the major problems, if the people who made it have vanished into the aether, and if the page is just poorly written, I wouldn't mind cutting them even if they're technically "OK". If nobody gives a damn about the page...
...And yeah, we need a term... "Non-cleanup editor"???
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCharacters.Project Genesis has been cut; the Roleplay.Project Genesis request has been declined.
This is late since I take long breaks from the site but I didn't create Cumberholmes and it's not on my record of created pages (and Oreochan was my first handle that I used 2009 - 2013). It was a cleanup edit. Pretty sure all I did was move the page to off the main/ namespace so probably didn't even read the page but don't really remember because that was 5 years ago. Should have said thats what what I was doing back then.
But yeah, I think it should probably be cut since it's such a mess and the people who are familiar with it are long gone.

Macron's notesIt looks to me like Project Genesis has more than three valid examples.
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”It does now.
Oh, that makes sense. I agree, it's a mess, and I'm not sure anyone would care to clean it.
Anyway, thanks for letting us know!

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCleaned
- Tiandi: Abandoned subforum, though some threads are complete. There was a chunk of "OOC tropes" that had to go for violating Speculative Troping. Kinda. They're not speculating, but they do not appear in the RP.
- TITAL And Organization XIV: Likely a Kingdom Hearts, although its description fails to say so.
- TM Universe: Auto racing RP in the "world" of NASCAR Racing Season 2003. What appeared to be YMMV on that subpage (and on-page) are actually YMMV items used in-universe, so I've tagged them with In-Universe.
- To Boldly Go... A Starfleet Quest: A Star Trek quest RP that's pretty substantial in content.
- Toro League: A Pokémon RP. A somewhat short page with only minor cleanup needed.
- To Rule: Quest RP. From the look of the story thread (the digestible summary), it's complete.
Cut listed
- Time Travel And Tea: Not enough adequately described tropes
- Time Warped: Not enough adequately described tropes
- Time Warriors: Not enough adequately described tropes
- Together We Rise: Site is defunct, moved to DarthWiki.Together We Rise
- To The Farplane: Not enough adequately described tropes
- Total War 2125: Not enough adequately described tropes

A good few months ago (sorry for not popping in sooner!) I was sent a message about the Discord roleplay Daily Mysteries and was asked whether or not it was public. The answer to that, and the other RP page that had been made in the same vein Hope's Requiem is that these were groups that were once public, but unfortunately the invite links have both been lost to time. As far as I'm concerned, they're kind of both messes of pages I regret creating with plenty of empty slots and I'm 100% for them being cut.

Late reply, but oh well. Thanks for coming in. I think we'll probably move it to Darth Wiki rather than cut it outright, but I'm fine either way, honestly.
I'll try and get some of the M's cleaned up tonight and get this thread going again.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness- Magic Academy: A TVT Roleplay from 2012, which hasn't had a non-cleanup edit in years. Cleaned main page and character's page.
- Magical Girl No Civil War: Only barely enough good examples to keep the page when combining the main and characters pages. No link, no reference to where this RP is/was held.
- Magical Goddess Girls From Outer Space: Tiny RP on hiatus. Needed cleanup.
- Magus Wars: No non-cleanup edit done since 2013. Cleanup needed on characters and main pages.
Apologies for my absence- I've had, and still have, a lot on my plate to deal with, alongside general exhaustion from the colder weather and procrastination from it all to play video games instead
Civil War sounded familiar, and a quick check confirmed that it's hosted on these forums. I've added a link to the page. Not sure when I'll get back to cleaning, but I am still invested in the effort!
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobHahaha, I understand completely.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm gonna move it to Darth Wiki soon since the last non-cleanup edit was in 2015.
Figured.

Here it is, one convoluted search involving acronyms and deviantart later. It doesn't seem to be like mgcomics, where the site as a whole is blocked off from Google searching, so I dunno why it wasn't showing up 🤔
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobHow in the world do you... ? This one is saved from the Darth Wiki-ing. Perhaps it fell off the Google rankings since it hasn't had a post since 2015?
Edited by Tabs on Oct 31st 2019 at 4:10:17 AM
It was a bit of a ride. Putting in "This is why we fight" "Sydney" into Google got me a link to a deviantart from one of the players. I didn't find any links, but they used TIWWF as an acronym, so I figured I'd try that next. That got me to the forum, where there was a link to a TIWWF website... that didn't work, but searching on the forum itself eventually turned that up.
It really makes me appreciate when a page has a distinctive title, character name, or quote to make searching easier
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobGood work, Whizzerd!
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessA few more
- This Is Halloween: Somebody helpfully commented out some ZCEs in 2015. Commented out more and took out a Shipping wick.
- This Is Why We Fight: Whizzerd
- Thorns Uprising: Another offsite one. The page had more ZCEs than not and also had those pesky dashes instead of colons. Per mod fiat, dashes are deprecated and should be replaced with colons.
- 3WSR: The editors have no idea what Wiki Words are. However, the page was in really good shape despite not having recent edits and had most of the indentation right.
- This Is War was cut.
During my Spoiled Sweet cleanup, I ran into this: Despair Despair Despair Mania. When I was at it, I started commenting out examples.
Then, after I was done, I noticed it's the dreaded Roleplay/ namespace. The main work page is stub with no tropes: Despair Despair Despair Mania. Analysis.Despair Despair Despair Mania is its duplicate. It also has a very weird quote tab: Quotes.Despair Despair Despair Mania.
There are some tropes with context on the character sheet, though I haven't read it, so I don't know how accurate these are. Should they be moved to the main Roleplay/ page?
I'd cutlist everything, to be honest. What do you think?
Move the entries from the characters pages to main, cutlist all the subpages.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax" Yeah. Otherwise, the main page is tropeless. I would simply copy over just the character tropes with sufficient context, but if you want to be charitable, you can copy over the entire character page including descriptions and drop it in a "Characters" folder.
EDIT: Actually, I can't even search up this title. All Google gives me are the two TV Tropes pages. Some troper named korzuhuba was responsible for the entirety of these pages. So before doing any more work, it's probably easiest to give it the Darth Wiki treatment and cut list everything else.

Yeah, these examples are wordy but don't actually say anything. The only example I feel confident with is Does This Remind You of Anything?.
