Lately, we've been having some trouble with pages in the Roleplay/ namespace, and much debate over how to handle said pages. Problems include:
- Auto-Erotic Troping
- Major problems with example context
- The difficulty cleaning up or verifying the content on said pages, often due to these roleplays being private or otherwise inaccessible
In this thread, we will discuss and clean-up these works so they conform to the rules of the wiki, and can be understood by any reader regardless of whether or not they take part in the roleplay.
Here are some useful sandboxes for our cleanup effort:
- How to Clean a Roleplay - a sandbox guide to determining availability of, locating, and cleaning up pages to roleplays.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread is used for sorting pages after we examine them, whether they've been cleaned, cut, or shelved, and anything in-between.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread Indexing is used after a cleaned and verified page has been added to the first sandbox. We try to add these pages to our indexes, with the plan to create actual indexes later on.

Ah, I can see where the confusion was. WAOA actually is crossover-based. It has tons of non-OC's(so basically Alternate Character Interpretation versions) as well as OC's. Like, I've played characters from Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, Clayfighter, Persona(kind of, it's complicated. Basically Faker!Metis isn't the real one), Sonic, Mortal Kombat, and more.
AU(which used to be called We Are Our Author Avatars) stars OC's. Once in a while a crossover aspect can happen(like the Pokeverse). It just starred people's OC's that originated from WAOA.
Shadow?I moved all the "(various)" into Crossover.
CLEANED
- Ultimate Chat Fic of Mutual Memeing!: Short page, work is full of sillies. Here's the Danganronpa roleplay of the day. The only subjective subpage it has is Headscratchers.
- Ultimate Crossover Roleplay: Many of the examples are barely tolerable, but... don't feel like giving the page another go.
- Ulti's Bar & Grill: No link provided, but the title of the roleplay and forum name made it easy enough to find, so it's added to the description.
- Uncanny Tales of Linburn: TV Tropes Forum roleplay. Character page was mostly empty folders, so the few tropes there were moved to the main page.
- UNIT: It took 10 minutes too many to find this roleplay. My new threshold is 10 minutes.
- UNMD First Contact: Irony: Ao, the Lucina expy, has no idea what Fire Emblem is....No.
- Unnatural Selection: This one has seen some recent-ish edits.
- US Gov Sim: Needed to delete some misuse, but otherwise, the editors have been good about providing tropes with context. This is a long-runner.
- Vapor: A Steampunk RP: Another nation roleplay. Looks like the editor decided to keep the "character" (nation) tropes on the main page.
- Valucre: Small page with no subpages. This the first work page that didn't require cleanup, although the description reads like a sales pitch.
CUT
- Ultra Discordronpa 4 Recessive Virtue: Stub.
- Under A Blank White Sky: No legitimate, context-provided tropes.
- Unicorns Visions: Defunct website with not enough content archived. Moved to DarthWiki.Unicorns Visions
- Unimerge: No index, lacks the minimum three tropes
- Urania: Nothing linked and description suggests this is private between friends. Moved to DarthWiki.Urania
- Valetonia: No website; either it doesn't exist or exists (as description suggests) as a personal project. Moved to DarthWiki.Valetonia
- Vanished: Trying various keywords did not lead to a forum that looked like it hosts this page, so content moved to DarthWiki.Vanished. It has almost not enough tropes to keep it alive, though.
Been hit with the busy bug for the past week or so, but I might be able to get some cleanup done tomorrow. I'm calling dibs on the D roleplays, though there's still a couple of things on our to-do list I wanna clear up before I get back to the main list.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobAlright, I hit the CDT folks up with another message to make sure they're prepared for when I start tackling the CDT work pages. I also went through Cerberus Daily News, made sandboxes for the pages, and did clean-up in them; I'll leave the links in here for a day or two, in case anyone else wants to do some edits of their own, then I'll bring them over to the locked page requests thread:
- Sandbox.Cerberus Daily News
- Sandbox.Cerberus Daily News Citadel Space
- Sandbox.Cerberus Daily News Terminus Space
- Sandbox.Cerberus Daily News Battle Of Veratix Station
Paid a little visit to the Character Development Thread. Your post is still the most recent, but by now, I don't think there'd be major resistance.
Regarding a roleplay on my to-do list, TURNINGCOLORS
(Please ignore the strangely formatted title, sales pitch description, and real-life troping. I will get to those myself.)
After some digging, I located the thread (https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/77737/28603036/1/)
and added it to the page. The description seems to talk only about the forum, not Turning Colo(u)rs. If I remove the paragraph, then the page has no description. So I was thinking of creating a new page called Roleplay of Geass and merging the trope list of Turning Colours and the sequel, Twisted Colors, onto a single page. (The description of Twisted Colors is copied and pasted from TURNINGCOLORS except every username potholed to Took a Level in Badass. I deleted it earlier, so it's kind of also description-less.)
Thoughts?

Sorry ya'll, been out of my groove lately with this thread. New post coming tomorrow.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI've got one approval over at CDT, but I'll still wait a little bit- especially for Miss_Desperado, since they were the one who came into this thread to discuss the clean-up.
![]()
A merge seems good to me, since the sequel RP barely has enough tropes to count for its own page. As for a workable description, how's this?
->''"Lelouch Vi Brittania commands you to Role Play until your hearts content."''
''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/forum/Roleplay-of-Geass/77737/1/0/ Roleplay of Geass]]'' is a forum dedicated to ''Anime/CodeGeass'' roleplay, located on Website/FanfictionDotNet. It was created in 2010 and has continued to see activity up until 2019.
Organised by Blazing Demon, the roleplays follow the original storyline of the anime, except with the addition of {{original character}}s. Said characters are meant to complement the original story, and not overtake it.
The main roleplays of interest are ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/77737/28603036/1/) Turning Colors (Tāningu-shoku)]]'' and its sequel, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/77737/37014942/1/Offical-Roleplay-Code-Geass-Tsuisuto-shoku Twisted Colors (Tsuisuto-shoku)]]''.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGob![]()
works for me!
- Ax-Crazy: Darker. There are more Ax Crazy characters, but. . .DARKER, man. His birth name is AX-L.
- And now there's a female that can rival Darker. Meet Poena.
- Rival? It seems like Darker's the type to forget about people he traps with his Geass, for quite some time. I'd rather be captured by him then Poena any day *shudder*.
- Gadvein can safely be added to this list. Emphasis on CRAZY.
- Five-Man Band: On the author side.
- The Hero: Blazing Demon
- The Lancer: Cobra
- The Smart Guy:
- The Brute:
- The Chick:
- The Sixth Ranger:
Gross. I'm not moving that over, even under comment markings.
- Oh,No...Not Again
- Squee: Most of the Author's reactions upon finding the Trope page.
Hoo boy.
And done! Now the two merged RPs just need to be cut. I will add this one to the "cleaned" folder for future reference.

Nice!
I made a request over at the locked pages thread to have the Cerberus Daily News pages replaced with the cleaned up sandbox versions. I also hunkered down and got all the necessary clean-up and migration of Character Development Thread and its various sub-RP's done, and left a message in their discussion about it.
The next thing on my list is the D roleplays, which I should be getting to soon, if luck permits. For now, my recently discovered addiction for Fire Emblem Heroes awaits!
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobNice job on the Cerberus Daily News clean-up, everybody. Swapping that out was super satisfying.
"Nice job, me" as in, "I read the sandboxes and nodded at how good they looked"
Also, I still managed to so some cleanup even as I, uh... "battled" my Fire Emblem: Three Houses addiction, so you can manage!
Oog, it's all over once I've saved up enough money for 3H
Should I send the Cerberus Daily News sandboxes to the cutlist now? They shouldn't be needed for any more major edits.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobGetting started on D!
- DAMMED: Ongoing (maybe, it's hard to tell) original roleplay. Was pretty messy with ZCE's and nested tropes before I cleaned up. Had a lot of nearly-blank character pages that needed cutting. No subpages besides Characters.
- Damned: Abandoned crossover roleplay. Short page, minor clean-up. Shares a namespace with Literature.Damned- Trivia page is for the book, YMMV page is for both.
- Danger Time: Finished original quest roleplay. Cleaned up ZCE's and some unnecessary spoilers. Characters names are bolded like in the roleplay, much like the page for What Time Is It, Mr. Wolf? (which is hosted on the same website). Has YMMV subpage.
- Dark Before The Dawn: Abandoned roleplay. Needed clean-up and some quick link-searching. Has YMMV subpage.
- Darkness Rising: Finished original roleplay. Basic clean-up, especially for the character page. Has Funny, Trivia, and YMMV subpages.
- Dasaria: Abandoned roleplay. This one is interesting; it's a hybrid of a modded video game and play-by-post RPing. Small page with minor clean-up and no subpages.
- Dave Ja Vou: Poor quality page for a chatroom roleplay that I can't find. Very little legitimate tropes too, so I've sent it to the cutlist rather than moving it to Darth.
- Dawn of Worlds: This one's a little complicated. Originally it was troping a freely-distributed Tabletop Game- not only would that put it in the wrong namespace, but it was also lacking three non-ZCE tropes. However, at one point the page was also used to trope a tvt roleplay that used said tabletop setting- I reverted the page back to troping that, and left a note about recreating the general Dawn of Worlds setting in TabletopGame/ namespace and with an adequate amount of tropes.
And two I'm gonna get back to:
- Dark Fates Foretold: I did some searching and found this
thread. However, while that doesn't turn up much, the search I did
seems to indicate that there's more posts in the thread that maybe aren't publicly viewable? I'm gonna look into this one a little more when I have time.
- Darwin's Soldiers: Pretty long page, I'll get to this one when I have more time.
- Communication: A large Quest RP with three different incarnations being troped. The page is still being modified, and has last been touched 9 hours ago. I think this is why the page is in pretty good shape. ...Also you apparently beat me there, Whizzerd. Neat
- Connection Established: The quote takes up 75% of the description space, which is always fun. I went into the "Information Site" on Tumblr, which is the only link there, and it's missing...well...information. I looked and couldn't find a link to the RP on the tumblr blog, either. Page needed cleanup, as did the character's page, which was alternating between really good and really bad, with several folders of nothing that I commented out, or folders that contained no tropes and the placeholder line "information goes here".
- Conquest Quest: Last modified by Whizzerd, and the page is in good shape because of that.
- Conscience Of A Nation: Unindexed, unlinked, page created a few months ago, with the only edit being the pages' creation. This page was the only thing the creator ever did on the site, so trying to contact them likely won't do much. Also there's no attempt at alphabetization. There's contradictory pair of tropes applied to the same group and I'm not sure what to do about that. Doing a quick search on the forum gave me nothing.
- Conundrum Estate: A year-old page created in one single edit by a troper who hasn't been on since. Character's page is entirely ZC Es and the main page only barely survives being cut for the same reason.
- Covered In Blood And Surrounded By Spirits: Small page. Last edited by Whizzerd McNinja, so nothing for me to do.
- Pokémon Battle-by-Post AKA the redirect title Create A Pokemon Anime Style Battling: Needed cleanup and link hunting. The character page is large and poor. I wanted to create a folder for character tropes on the main page, but... I'm torn since there seems to be some real-person troping going on. I'll compile all the ones I think are acceptable.
Only 10 more pages left to look at before the C's are completed.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallGo War go!
And I can't take all the credit- if I remember right, NTC did most of the heavy lifting for those pages and I just swept up a little more afterwards
I'm not having any luck with Connection Established either- it says it's an IRC chatroom, which has come up before with unavailable roleplays. From what I understand from Google, it's essentially a private chatroom that you need a provided download client to access. So, unless there's a log of the RP anywhere (which doesn't seem to be the case, in this instance) then we're probably not finding it, and it wasn't meant to be found in the first place.
As for Conscience Of A Nation, AlternateHistory.com requires a sign-in to view most of its content. This issue has been brought up before
, and kinda ties in to one of our unanswered questions of 'does being locked behind a sign-up mean that a work isn't sufficiently available to the public as per wiki standards'?
I would personally say both roleplays are unavailable.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm only hesitant to agree because the two ATT threads
I've seen on the matter had the mods divided on whether they could be troped or not.
For roleplays like Connection Established, where you need to request a link to participate, that's definitely not intended for the public and I have no problem with it being moved to Darth or cut. However, for roleplays that are only locked behind sign-up, you could argue that signing-up to a forum to see its roleplay threads isn't dissimilar to signing up for a streaming/cable service to watch a show. AlternateHistory.com
has 50'000 members; that's a pretty significant number of people who can see Conscience Of A Nation and its ilk.
I'm torn.
On one hand, there's the obvious fact that for a majority of media, you need to pay to experience them, or you need to download them, or have a specific console, or what have you.
On the other hand, none of those other mediums need their existence verified through a link. Once a game is out, you can just look for footage on YouTube. Once a book is out, you can just Google the title. When a film releases, you just need to check your local theater. These mediums are large enough and public enough to not require evidence of their existence. But roleplays are inherently different.
If a link cannot be supplied for readers, there's no other way for those readers to realize these works exist outside of the TVT page. Even if a good number of tropers may have an Alternate History account, not everyone will, and so for a portion of people, the work may as well not exist.
This is the dilemna we're in. Is having a good number of people be able to verify something good enough? Or should anybody be able to say that, yes, this thing exists?
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI feel like this issue can also pertain to other forms of internet content as well, which can be anything under Web Original, Fan Works, etc. This thread might not be the correct place to come to a definitive stance on how verifiable a work is.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobShould we take this to the Unreleased Work Policy thread, perhaps?
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIt makes no sense to have a work locked behind a login wall if it is intended to be "published" for people to view it. Again, though, web-based content is slightly different in this regard. For commercial mass-media content, it is accepted that you may need to pay for it or at least sign up for a service in order to play/view.
We aren't saying that Game of Thrones cannot be troped because you have to pay for HBO; that'd be ridiculous. Among any given body of tropers, it is extremely likely that someone interested in verifying the content of our article has an HBO subscription (or views GoT in an "unofficial" way) and can watch it to see if the descriptions are accurate.
However, if Joe's Gundam RP is in a private forum that requires registration, then by definition its audience is going to consist exclusively of that limited set of people who sign up for that forum and intentionally read it. It makes it enormously more likely that only the players will have any interest in troping the RP, and thus that the article will be used in an auto-erotic fashion.
Moreover, someone looking to verify the content or clean up the article should not be expected to register for that private forum just to read through hundreds of pages of forum posts. If the forum is invite-only, that's even more exclusive.
Put another way, private Discord servers or login-walled forums are inherently exclusionary. The intent is to keep the content private and away from the general public. Consequently, we should not have public trope articles for such content. We judge it by that intent.
The above principle would apply regardless of whether the content is an RP, but that's mostly what we are concerned with in this topic.
