Lately, we've been having some trouble with pages in the Roleplay/ namespace, and much debate over how to handle said pages. Problems include:
- Auto-Erotic Troping
- Major problems with example context
- The difficulty cleaning up or verifying the content on said pages, often due to these roleplays being private or otherwise inaccessible
In this thread, we will discuss and clean-up these works so they conform to the rules of the wiki, and can be understood by any reader regardless of whether or not they take part in the roleplay.
Here are some useful sandboxes for our cleanup effort:
- How to Clean a Roleplay - a sandbox guide to determining availability of, locating, and cleaning up pages to roleplays.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread is used for sorting pages after we examine them, whether they've been cleaned, cut, or shelved, and anything in-between.
- Roleplay Cleanup Thread Indexing is used after a cleaned and verified page has been added to the first sandbox. We try to add these pages to our indexes, with the plan to create actual indexes later on.

Ah, I see. That makes sense. So for each blanked out on, I have to put it in context?
Yes, basically. The rule of thumb is to describe everything so that even people who don't know about the roleplay can understand how tropes are used in said-roleplay. Once there's context though, you can delete the percentages and make the example visible again.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay.
...Why was All Lesbians Want Kids deleted?
It seemed to be misuse, since it's not really all Lesbians wanting kids if only one of them did, ya know?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHow about I put a Playing with a Trope in there?
Edited by TrueChaos on Sep 14th 2019 at 5:54:28 AM
Maybe? The trope seems to be more about how lesbians want kids but have to go through a bunch of hoops to get their own, rather than just "lesbian wants a kid", but you can definitely try- I could be wrong.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay. Thank you for your time clearing some things up for me!
No problem!
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessA problem came up with a cut roleplay page and Complete Monster here.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Spent today doing a clean-up of We Are Our Avatars and its character page- only to discover that links to seven more character pages were hidden away at the very bottom.
orz
Well, I'll get started on them in the next few days.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobI was pinged over to the CM cleanup thread and arrived there just as confused as Warjay.
You mean the retired/bussed folder? Ooch. I opened them all thinking, "Surely they can fit in maybe one or two pages", but looking at the tiny scroll bar, I think that's a no...
Roleplays Ve to end of the V's
- Veritable: This one comes with a story only thread, which appears to be the "digestible" write-up of this roleplay. Sweet.
- Victoria Falls: Took some digging around, but I found it. Good thing the description included the GM's name.
- Video Game Edition Series: The page as a whole isn't that great in quality. A trope beginning with "And" was placed among the T's, while all the tropes beginning with "The" were left among the T's. Boggles the mind. At the bottom is a section labeled "Note: These were all self-made by each poster. It shows." Aaaand, it's entirely the roleplayers troping themselves. The Big Bad entry has two sub-bullets (one per season) and they're a total of 56 lines long. That's gotta be a record.
- Viridian Dreams Quests: Lots of subpages in this one. The page contained many instances of my least favorite type of ZCE: the kind that tells the readers to "guess" or subtly belittling them for not knowing.
- Virtual Haddonfield: There are two character pages and no tropes on the main page. Inaccessible to public, so it now resides on DarthWiki.Virtual Haddonfield.
- Virtually Reality: After commenting out ZCEs, there will be about one legitimate trope left. Cut listed.
- Virtual Warrior World: We've got a bit of "Official Couple: With [x]" and "The Leader: Of [x]" going on here.
- Vocaloid Otaku Freeform Roleplay: Tropes with context from character pages were moved to the work page, the whole thing moved to DarthWiki.Vocaloid Otaku Freeform Roleplay, and all pages but that cut listed.
- Void of the Stars: There we go with the [[{{TropeNamesInBrackets}} potholed and written-out trope names accompanied by brackets]] for some reason. It's a chore to fix these.
WAOA is a huuuuuuge roleplay. It has tons of characters. Cleaning up the sheets, yeah, but it would need more than one page due to having well over 50 players at some points. And even more characters. At the very least, a lot can be fixed up per page, though. Including poor links, etc.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Hn. On Characters. We Are Our Avatars Seven: Are "The Great Pie's Alt" and "The Real Wren"'s folders misalphabetized?
Ah, OK.

That’s their actual usernames, so technically no.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.The We Are Our Avatars character pages are all cleaned up now, with a little help from Tabs
I've been going through some of the character pages for already cleared RP's and been cleaning them up too. Two other quick things of note:
- War of the Wikia: Tabs originally couldn't find a link to this, but some digging around the wiki led me to it. Added to the page.
- Comicfury Werewolf: Did some updating of the roleplay list; turns out there's been a ton since the page was last updated.
Nice work on WAOA, guys!

After cleaning and ordering Ultimate Detention Center For Criminal Justice, I realized there's no link to the roleplay. I don't know how to search for Discord servers or if that's even possible. What do?
Alongside my usual searching, I tried using disboard and found a list of nearly 200 (!!!) DR Discord roleplays, but none of them are the one you're looking for. I'm guessing either it's been deleted or it's private and wasn't meant for the public.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobOoh, I must remember that site for searching. Well. I think it's safe to say we've put enough effort into trying to find the work, so I'm going to move it to Unpublished Works.
Aargh, Ultimate Crossover Roleplay. Each trope alone I would allow to squeak by the zero-context example criteria, but read in aggregate, it's frustrating, as most of them are either really broad ("Many characters are this") or apply to the source material with nothing said about how they apply to the RP ("Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: The Sinnoh region setting, filled with Pokemon of various colors.").

Hey Tabs, any particular reason why you've put roleplays hosting various fandoms (such as Across Universes and Ultimate Crossover Roleplay) under 'Fandom Roleplays' instead of 'Crossover Roleplays' on the index sandbox?
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobI thought in a crossover, the setting had to be somewhere in one of the properties crossing over. Like the Buffy example having characters stay in their setting. In those RPs, we have a new or undefined setting with a bunch of characters. OK, now that you've mentioned, maybe it doesn't make much sense not to put them under crossover. So crossover roleplays are a subcategory of fandom roleplays?
Pretty much, yeah, since crossover roleplays (especially ones that allow you to pick a character from any fandom to play) are pretty popular in their own right.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobBasically, the premise of Across Universes isn't basically a crossover rp in itself. It's more that we have Author Avatars travel to generic universe types that allow for variation in characterization/designs. For instance, Nix(A.K.A. Hydronix) becomes a Bigfoot in Horrorverse. The Pokeverse is literally the only one based upon a franchise. Otherwise, it's just a general thing. It's more like a Cross Over RP, not a Crossover one. :P
Nonetheless, I don't think it applies. It's not combining multiple franchises by any means.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Ah, I see. Since it was a spinoff of We Are Our Avatars, which is a Crossover Roleplay, I assumed it was the same.
On a different note, I did a little more clean-up of Viridian Dreams Quests and noticed it was troping the site's contents- which include both roleplays and Lets Plays. Would it make more sense to then move it to Website.Viridian Dreams?
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGob
Both were Zero-Context Examples:
Neither of these actually explain how the tropes occur in the roleplay. The first one alludes to something happening, but that's not context- a moment where someone did taunt the Concept and got punished for it would be helpful. For the second one, it also doesn't really explain anything. It claims that the hosts manage to "avoid problems" and "create new ones", but I don't know what that means. What sort of problems do they avoid? How does this create new problems? Are they problems that did happen at some point in the timeline? Etc.
