Terraforming. Alternative genetic modification and a whole slew of tech's associated with trying to adapt human populations to planets. Or really strong AI capable of handling navigation at FTL speeds where by the time you see something, you've already hit it. Better and more compact power sources capable of powering their FTL drives.

Or maybe they invent computers, or Death Stars. The question is pretty vague. Technology isn't a straight progression from some starting point to an ending point.

A Matter Replicator or otherwise creating something from nothing. Just imagine a machine that can make literally anything, especially Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.
