Each to their own, i personally find Hubert's family tradition and sharing Edelgard's ideals to be more believable than Dedue's motivations, not that Dedue has a weak motive mind you.
Really? I always thought Dedue had the strongest motivation: right when a country is slaughtering your people, that prince jumps in front of a sword to keep you from being falsely executed and swears to clear your country's name and end their persecution. Why wouldn't you follow him?
Like i said, i find Dedue and Dimitri's friendship to be quite powerful and interesting, but what bugs me is that Dedue's undying loyalty can go to the extent of murdering innocents hypothetically if Dimitri would ask him too, even though that would accomplish nothing, and that they are relatively newly met.
Hubert by contrast was raised from birth to be loyal, had that loyalty beaten into him, is respectful of the family tradition, and shares Edelgard's ideals, that to me is more believable than Dedue's.

You say that like it's not something that Hubert actually does.
Sorry, blasted posting problems, Hubert killing innocents for Edelgard is in character, while i find it hard to believe a nice guy like Dedue would kill innocents for Dimitri even though Dimitri saved him from being wrongly killed.
The reason I think it's justified is because Dedue thinks he has nothing else to live for. He does not believe that his culture can be revived, his family is dead, and he thinks that making bonds will just cause whoever he befriends pain. Dude's got a suicidal streak a mile wide, and believing in Dimitri is all he has to keep him going. There's nothing that could ever be more important than that. That's my interpretation, at least.

Like i said each to their own, loyalty beaten into since birth can be just as powerful as loyalty fueled by a lack of anything else in your life. I do so enjoy characters with undying loyalty but with messed up reasons, they are so fascinating.

We even see this where he turns himself into a mindless monster to strike Dimitri's enemies, knowing that even if Dimitri win Dimitri would have to put himself and the other soldiers loyal to Dimitri that did so down.

Now here's a question, at what point does undying loyalty actively become detrimental to the person you are loyal to? Ferdinand and Hubert's supports discuss this, and Dimitri was horrified by what Dedue did. Also i don't know if it's coded in or a gameplay quirk, but all those demonic beasts just stood there if i wasn't in attack range, pretty funny seeing my army make a conga line avoiding monsters.
This game is making me go full on Ancient Aliens mode.
THE ZAHRAS SPELL SENDS YOU TO DEEP SPACE
THE SWORD OF CREATION LETS YOU BASICALLY CREATE A WORMHOLE TO A DESTINATION OF YOUR CHOOSING
SOTHIS IS AN ANCIENT ALIEN WHO LANDED ON FODLAN MILLENIA AGO
As discovered via datamining the game's files, there were apparently originally plans for Annette and Felix to betray you and join Cornelia on the Blue Lions route.
This idea was probably scraped because the developers didn't think it was necessary, since we have no evidence that other characters would betray you in other routes so far.
I don't think the Children of the Goddess are her literal children. There was hundreds, likely thousands of them living in Zanado and there is no mention of any partner.
I assume it's kind of Adam and Eve kind of shenanigans. That way Byleth x Rhea would also be much less incesty and explain why Flayn count as one too.

it depends on whether Rhea literally created your mom or if she did it the old-fashioned way. if the latter, she's your grandma and there's no escaping that.

And she probably made her using whatever she had left of her mom, which combined with her own blood in Jeralt is Incestx 2 baby vessel combo!
Again that assume Sothis and Rhea are literal mother and daughter, which is unlikely as both Seteth and Flayn are also the Children of the Goddess despite being explicitly father and daughter instead.
Edited by Tenzen12 on Aug 23rd 2019 at 12:13:07 PM
Well in that case, wouldn't Flayn be more of a Grandchild of the Goddess?
They're all her kids and grandkids as it was her blood that made them.
It's why she's literally the Progenitor God. Rhea was the last child she conceived through said method. They're all related as a result.

Exactly my point, alas...

dragon genetics are weird man
Plus no matter what, if you romance Flayn, Seteth or Rhea, Sothis is along for the ride. On the topic of incest, given how crests work, if Byleth romanced Edelgard or any other crest bearer, is it technically incest because Rhea also gave her blood to Jeralt and Byleth has the ACTUAL blood of the Sothis in his veins.
Edited by RedHunter543 on Aug 23rd 2019 at 8:34:20 AM
Well, that depends entirely on how much this "blood" stuff actually entails genetic information. It might just be some magic imprint or something.
While we don't know how Byleth's mom looked, the fact that Byleth has green hair MIGHT mean some genetic information was passed down.
Byleth's hair is more blue than green (I'd say yale blue, but I'm not an expert on color palettes), it only turns Nabatean green after Sothis does her soul merge magic, and it goes back to normal when the Crest is removed in BE, so genetics are not at play in this case.
Of course, "Nabatean green" can be as dark as Seteth or as light as Rhea, so who the hell knows for sure.
Byleth's hair struck me as on the forest green side of things, though slightly bluer than Seteth's.
Look, it's not incest if there's a god involved. That's mythology fact, don't @ me.
On the Hubert vs Dedue topic, if we do get a Revelations-esque route those boys better have a support chain.
