One character should be a grouch that doesn't want to join the Secret Santa and then something something he learns the True Meaning of Christmas, becomes good, and discovers that Santa is real.

"Secret Santa" exchanges often have a price limit as one of the rules, but there's still an opportunity for humor when two santas with irreconcilable differences unknowingly draw each other's name. They wait to the last minute, to grab (the same) thing their friends don't approve of, but they wished they could get. Maybe it's the magic of Christmas, or maybe some people just like fruit cake?

One of my characters is a writer for a TV show. At one point, they have to write a Christmas Episode for the Show Within a Show. This character proceeds to write a very cliched and predictable script. This is supposed to illustrate how the writer has become cynical and no longer cares about the quality of their writing. I'm wondering what Christmas Episode cliches I should include in the Show Within a Show.
One idea I have is for the episode to contain a Secret Santa, where one of the characters doesn't know what gift to get. They eventually decide on doing a grand gesture for their Secret Santa, as opposed to giving them a material gift. This is something I feel like I've seen a lot in Christmas specials, though admittedly I can't think of any specific examples.
