MOD NOTE: TROPES BLANKET-BANNED FROM HAVING VIDEO EXAMPLES:
- Attempted Rape
- Bound and Gagged
- Dramatic Incontinence
- Epileptic Flashing Lights
- Jump Scare
- Nocturnal Emission
- Panty Shot
- Pooping Where You Shouldn't
- Potty Failure
- Sensory Abuse
- Screamer Prank
It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading
thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
Videos must also be actual videos — a video file containing a static image or slideshow (e.g. a sequence of comic panels) should not be approved.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

Remember though, this site operates on a policy of no notability standards, so being concerned over "notable" video examples being the first to play can easily get very sticky. Videos for more obscure works get ignored as is. Sometimes them being the first video to play is better to add more variety to the site, rather than covering everything in "popular" ones.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWe shouldn't worry about "iconic" examples getting buried because we shouldn't consider examples more "iconic" than others. All we care is if they actually fit the trope, just like with text examples. (Plus most tropes have only three or so videos and I usually check most of them out, so it's unlikely they'll get buried unless it's a fairly popular trope for videos like Big Bad.)

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Adding to this, videos that are the source of memetic mutation get incredible notoriety already. See the video example for Obviously Not Fine (in addition to being the Trope Namer).

Yeah, that's the thing. Those are already the ones people watch, with the other ones seeming to go generally unwatched or at least unrated. We don't need to bury the obscure ones even more by enforcing a notoriety standard on the Featured Video.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm thinking that the first video on Plummet Perspective, from the Wiley E. Coyote cartoon, does not illustrate that trope. Plummet Perspective is when a person hangs on onto a ledge, and an object falls down, to emphasize just how great the height is. In the first video Wiley E. Coyote himself plunges down, after hanging a bit in the air (this actually illustrates Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress). (The second video, where the rope falls down, might qualify.)
That's why we have the voting system. Plus, unlike Image Pickin', a trope has multiple videos show up on the page. It's really more analogous to text examples than images.

Yeah, I agree. Also think the second one is fine too. Also, the first vid has a "kiss cartoon" watermark. (I think second one doesn't have it).

I'd say the featured video is not the same thing as the trope image. Maybe it's the first video anyone sees, but as said above, it's not the only one. So yes, I think it would be.

As long as only the original submitter can edit the video details, we need to know who that is.
Though, tbh, I'd prefer changing the first half.

Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.List the issues here, then holler your own post.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.Copyright issues (both of these used entire youtube videos unedited)
- Potty Emergency: The The Loud House video "Bathroom Break!" is clearly way over the length limit. Not only that, but the uploader clearly just lifted the entire short off Youtube (and didnt edit any of it), which Im fairly certain is copyright breach.
- Fight for the Last Bite: Has the copyright issues, but not the time issues.

Would the Game Grumps joking about how gay Miles and Phoenix behave
in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney be a decent example for Ho Yay? It's not the scenes themselves, it's two fans reacting to the scenes. Some of the dialogue's a bit NSFW but there's SFW instances of this gag too.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Someone should check out Coco's The Unfettered video. It's low quality, chopped scenes, and 2 minutes long.
"CHICKEN JOCKEY!"
Should I report this or I should go to Videos Needing Review?

"CHICKEN JOCKEY!"

From what I can see in the description, the approved one does use the word piss, where as mine that got rejected didn't have that word in it.
The admin that checks mine is Colerich 333 but I don't know if he's the only admin that checks for video uploads.
