MOD NOTE: TROPES BLANKET-BANNED FROM HAVING VIDEO EXAMPLES:
- Attempted Rape
- Bound and Gagged
- Dramatic Incontinence
- Epileptic Flashing Lights
- Jump Scare
- Nocturnal Emission
- Panty Shot
- Pooping Where You Shouldn't
- Potty Failure
- Sensory Abuse
- Screamer Prank
It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading
thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
Videos must also be actual videos — a video file containing a static image or slideshow (e.g. a sequence of comic panels) should not be approved.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

So I'm guessing there's no way to rescind an upload that hasn't been approved yet? Because I realize I made an oversight on a video I uploaded on Power Walk. I did intentionally include some non-trope-relevant bits at the end so the clip would end on a climactic note, but I failed to realized that it was 35 seconds of unnecessary footage. I counted which parts of the video demonstrated the trope and I realized that only 1:10 were truly necessary. So, unless I can remove the video somehow, should I just upload the re-edited version? Edit: I haven't uploaded many videos so far, but I'm guessing every second counts on this site.
EDIT 2: I realized that this is the wrong thread for this sort of thing, srry.

You can delete the video. Go to the same page you uploaded it from, click the gear in the thumbnail, and click "Delete Video". This works even if the video is still pending.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.If Jump Scare is banned from having video examples, should Screamer Prank also be banned from having them? Considering it's a subtrope and the terms are often used interchangeably
"It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times?"I imagine the one video that could probably go through is that The Amazing World of Gumball episode where Gumball unknowingly watches a screamer (the video is offscreen and the scene is focused on his reaction), but other than that, yeah it should be banned.

That scene is acceptable, but because the internet is the way it is, I fear the inevitability of an actual screamer being added
Is there a technical way to prevent video examples, like preventing access to the upload page, or do the mods just have to veto any attempts to get around them?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Mod veto, though I've been adding commented-out notes.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
Have the admins approved any examples for blanket-banned tropes? I know they approved Pro ZD videos after we agreed they shouldn't be on the site since they're so short.

Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.
What if they were like videos from random nobodies on YouTube, like on Fanvid?
Which media sources would be appropriate for the Song Parody video examples I uploaded and got approved? Franchise.Sonic The Hedgehog? Music.Busted for the latter?

Same for my edit history. The Fleeing the Complex entry for Dynamic Entry was clearly recorded off of the Newgrounds website. Also, the Infiltrating the Airship entry for Magic Misfire has a Stickpage.com watermark.
Minor nitpicks:
- The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo entry for No-Holds-Barred Beatdown (Giorno's beatdown against Cioccolata) should be renamed to its Fan Nickname of the "7-Page Muda".

I grabbed a video from the English dub of Dr. STONE off Funimation's website, but it has the site's logo in the top-right corner. Does that violate the "no watermarks" rule, or does it count as a channel bug and is acceptable?
Y'know, I've wondered that too. Since Funimation is the "official" source of the dub, you aren't using the watermark of a third party, but that of the officially recognized creator, so that might be allowed. I'm not so sure what the rationale of the watermark rule is myself, but I'm curious, since I've seen Robot Chicken vids here that have the [adult swim] logo in the corner.

Those Robot Chicken videos work because the [adult swim] logo on the lower right is a channel bug, not a watermark.

I'm planning to use this portion from https://youtu.be/HU0GLjOYCxI?t=20
to 0:54 as a video example for Song Parody, which parodies Doja Cat's "Say So" with lyrics pertaining to Silver the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). However, there's a Panty Shot of 12 year old Amy Rose, which was most likely an accident. Can the video clip be used?
