MOD NOTE: TROPES BLANKET-BANNED FROM HAVING VIDEO EXAMPLES:
- Attempted Rape
- Bound and Gagged
- Dramatic Incontinence
- Epileptic Flashing Lights
- Jump Scare
- Nocturnal Emission
- Panty Shot
- Pooping Where You Shouldn't
- Potty Failure
- Sensory Abuse
- Screamer Prank
It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading
thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
Videos must also be actual videos — a video file containing a static image or slideshow (e.g. a sequence of comic panels) should not be approved.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

Unfortunately I can't find a way to download just the clip from the pro-shot and I'm not downloading a two-hour video for just one clip.
So that brings me to another point: can we use footage of amateur productions for theater examples, as long as it's good quality?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Don't know, never tried.
I have tried this one, multiple times. Doesn't work.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Added a rule about not using whole works, since that needs to be clarified. (Some Fair Uses allow usage of whole work)
Also "Videos from a particular work being uploaded to the point of the work essentially existing in-full on the website, bringing concerns of copyright issues" and "Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright." are redundant.

Content Warning: My posts may involve my actions dealing with R-rated or Not Safe for Work content. Same for my edit history. The Family Guy example on Anything Can Be Music doesn't have a listed media source.

Eh, when I wrote the first one it was when people were uploading entire works in piecemeal. I think both rules need to stay since they cover similar but different issues.

Maybe combine them into a single bullet? Like, "Videos breaching copyright, either by uploading the work wholesale or so many videos from a particular work that it essentially exists in-full on site".
I now have an answer for what happens when you put a video on a subpage for a work; it shows up specifically on that subpage, but also on the VideoExamples/ page for the work in question. As long as the description mentions it's a fanwork, I think that could work until we get the ability to red link media sources. Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢
Another good thing to do would be to monitor works with lots of Entry Pimping in videos, such as Central Park.

Rock'n'roll never dies!On a sidenote, whoever keeps sending in Central Park videos, maybe don't title them as "CP." Partly because it's media-tagged anyway, but also because that abbreviation can have...other connotations.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. There's a video on Nobody Poops that cuts off words twice (including the ending), has no media source, and is not actually the trope (being about a Conspiracy Theory where nobody on Earth poops, not about a lampshading that nobody in a story ever uses the bathroom).

PrincessPandaTrope made a thread splintering off the whole possibly epilepsy-inducing video discussion, crossposting here
.
Infinity Train has a video example for Kick the Dog that spoils two major plot twists in the fifth episode of Book 3, the second of which isn't even related to the kicking
The unsourced video on Threw My Bike on the Roof has a bunch of pothole syntax that doesn't work because video examples don't do wiki syntax.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.Ground Pound has a video labeled "Spike Super Ground Pound". This is an attack that in-game is called ground pound, but it's an example of the trope Goomba Stomp and not the trope Ground Pound. The latter would require (1) a poof-and-speed-up animation in the air, and (2) hitting the ground instead of Mario's head.
What do we do with examples pitched on Video Ideas that would violate the policy if actually added? For example, both of the Doki Doki Literature Club! examples pitched are major spoilers; granted, said spoilers are bordering on It Was His Sled and the work page is spoilers off, but it'll probably suck to see it on the trope page and get spoiled.

Question: can we include official theater proshots as video examples? I found a clip
from the Hamilton proshot that I may list for Patter Song (though I'm not sure if rap is considered separate from that trope, but "Guns and Ships" is listed as an example.)
I also have a Legally Blonde proshot
that aired on MTV and may want to use an example from that as well, but it has singalong captions and a network bug because of the way it was aired. Would I have to crop that?
EDIT: Seems Hamilton already has video examples. Cool! My Legally Blonde question still stands though.
