[up]i would state the aggregate scores outright, RT and Metacritic should suffice.

We already have several trailers on the Advertising page, and that is an astonishingly negative ratio. It sounds like it counts if anything does.

I edited the Five Across The Eyes example to state the review scores. There's no Metacritic review, so I used IMDB instead. Bolded is the change.

  • Five Across The Eyes attempts to be a found-footage horror flick of a group of girls being harassed and tortured by a crazy woman. What it actually is, is a movie shot on someone's VHS camera, where we're stuck listening to a bunch of stupid, bratty, teenage girls screech and argue the entire time while driving, until they get attacked, in which case they cry and screech. It's so dark and low-quality that almost nothing can be seen at times, and there are no scene changes- we're just stuck watching the entire car-ride. With a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 2.6 on IMDB, this "film" is more of an endurance test than anything. Phelous suffers through it here.

Hmm, that's literally the only good review I've ever seen for it, though. Others describe it as outright unwatchable.

And isn't having a handful of fans not enough to disqualify something?

one good review isn't enough to disqualify it as Horrible; if that were the case, nothing would qualify. i think the aggregate scores are pretty clear in this case.

One good review shouldn't be enough to disqualify anything because every work is going to be liked by at least one person.

Is that consensus to add it, then?

Someone added to Anime and Manga:

  • Final Fantasy: Unlimited has almost nothing to do with the whole Final Fantasy franchise except for the presence of iconic motifs such as Chocobo, Moogles, Cid, and the crystals. Beyond that... only one of the main cast were actually (sort of) fighting, and his "fighting" involves drawing an overly long summon scene each episode... and when it does, the viewers were treated into a plodding Conspicuous CGI fighting... or lack thereof... add that the main characters were Kid-Appeal Character(s) that did nothing and a Faux Action Girl that not only being the biggest scrappy of any Final Fantasy ever, but presented in a pretty much inappropriate manner for the show (that supposed to be targeting the children demographic) and her presence might be an insult to any feminist (or heck, any viewer in general) ever. Only first half of the whole story is animated, and if this Wordpress summary is true, then it's for the better since unlike any Final Fantasy, the story ends in a cliffhanger and pretty much unfinished. Also check how Anime News Network taking the review for it. It's no wonder that after all of this, Square Enix pretend that it didn't exist

Sounds like it's complaining more about the differences from the source material and portrayal of female characters than the work itself.

Also, someone added West Wing Story, a YouTube short based on The Simpsons, to Western Animation. We should have gotten a consensus first. Reactions to the short are near universally negative, and it IS exclusive to The Simpsons YouTube channel rather than appearing on the show itself, so I'd personally say it qualifies, but it still could maybe be considered a DMOS.

The short in question for judging. I actually can't tell if it's a short or a clip from an upcoming episode. Maybe hide it until Season 31 is over?

Would NBA 2K20's MyTeam Trailer qualify? It showcases some players' reactions as they unlock new characters by playing casino-like minigames, which was received very badly by players due to worries that Lootboxes and similar mechanics might cause gambling addiction in children (since the game is rated PEGI 3+/E for Everyone). 2K Games made the trailer private on their channel (the linked video, which also has a horrible 23/753 like/dislike ratio, is a mirror from GameTrailers) after getting around 100 times more dislikes than likes.

As far as I know, you can't spend any real money on these casino games, so adding it right away might be a knee-jerk reaction, but still, the sheer amount of hatred the trailer got is astounding.

My current position is to not add the trailer right away, but to keep an eye on it and consider adding it depending on how bad the random mechanics in the released game are.

Aug 30th 2019 at 10:44:54 AM

Adding it right now would definitely be a kneejerk reaction, which the site is trying to cut down on. I say hold off for now.

Aug 30th 2019 at 10:59:55 AM

[up] It looks like somebody already added it to Horrible.Advertising and I didn't notice it. Should it be removed?

     The example
  • The MyTeam trailer for NBA 2K20 features surprisingly little footage of basketball, despite supposedly being for a basketball game. Instead, the focus is on the game's many luck-based reward mechanics such as player card packs. Bafflingly, many of these mechanics are gambling-themed (a slot machine, pachinko machine, and roulette game can be seen in the trailer), which is a strange choice considering how 2K Sports games, among others, had recently been negatively compared to gambling aimed at children; even though the casino-style games don't actually cost real money to play, this is not evident from the footage shown, and juxtaposing the paid random card packs with casino games is a bad look either way. During most of this, videos of streamers celebrating can be seen, presumably as they win lucky pulls, though closer inspection reveals that the light bar on their PS4 controller is off, meaning that the players are only pretending to cheer, and the footage was later superimposed over rigged spins. Reception was immensely negative, with a less than 1:100 like-dislike ratio on YouTube. Even 2K Sports fans couldn't defend the extremely tone-deaf trailer, which made the game look more like a casino simulator than a basketball game and seemed to be specifically trying to draw attention to the series' heavily criticized Bribing Your Way to Victory feature and give more ammunition to the "loot boxes are gambling" side of the argument. As you'd expect, Jim Sterling jumped onto the trailer in this video.

it was discussed on the previous page in this thread, and consensus was that it was alright to add. it's the trailer being put on the advertising page, so it has nothing to do with if they eventually change the game.

Are we turning this into another Complete Monster-esque consensus-before-adding thing?

Looks like someone added a(n incomplete) entry for Airplane Mode to the Live-Action Films page:

  • Airplane Mode is a 2019note  indie comedy film directed by and starring the infamous Logan Paul, which has the All-Star Cast of your favorite YouTubers and Viners trying to prevent their airplane flight from crashing after Idiotically refusing to turn on airplane mode on their devices, malfunctioning the airplane. This sounds like the comedy classic Airplane!, but 25 times worse. You can watch Pyrocynical's commentary here.
