Summer 2019 anime

I think this might be the most series I've watched in a season for a while.

I watched:

Carole & Tuesday - which is pretty decent, although not as good as I expected after the first few episodes.

Sounan desu ka! - was fairly amusing.

Tejina senpai - I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I'd known how big my list would get

Symphogear XV - AOTS, a great conclusion to an excellent series

Granbelm - picked it up on week 5 I believe. Didn't totally stick the landing, but still a solid 8.5/10 show.

Machikado Mazoku - watched the whole thing 3 days ago, did not expect to love it as much as I did. It's not a great show, but I still really enjoyed it. Although the first two episodes were the weakest

Danmachi S2 - was mainly watching because I like having something to discuss with a friend, but I do enjoy the series more than I expected going in.

O Maidens in Your Savage Season - really good drama. Have not seen many other series that deal with the character so well. Although I've still got 3 episode left

I'm planning on watching this week:

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Because everyone says its amazing, and a friend has told me I have to watch it.

Case Files: I planned to start earlier, but it ended up slipping my schedule until now.

Kanata no Astra: Wanted to watch earlier, but I was watching too much already. Its on my PTW, but not likely this week.

I forgot entirely about Carole and Tuesday and the fact that its rounding up this week. I watched the first half with my sister and I remember liking it, but I also remember feeling that while the interactions were fun, the relationship building felt a bit shallow with things feeling a bit too convenient

So with C&T's finale, summer is finally over.

It was a good ending, but… I can't help but feel this show isn't as good as it could have been. The Mars Brightest arc especially dealt a blow to the show's pacing and storytelling that it never completely recovered from − it should never have been longer than 3 episodes and the Cybelle mini-arc didn't go anywhere (plus it was repeated much more effectively with Angela's stalker later on). The show somewhat bounced back in the second half with a compelling (albeit unsubtle) political arc and there were plenty of scenes that hit hard one way or another, but it still didn't quite live up to the promise of the first few episodes. It doesn't help that there was really no reason for the show to take place on Mars outside of tying it to the Watanabe-verse.

Though one thing I liked is that both Angela and C&T ended up singing for a purpose greater than just becoming music stars − hell, we don't even know how well their debut albums did, and it's better this way because it was never important. What they ultimately found was simply a reason to keep singing.

All in all, it was a bumpy but enjoyable ride.

Now, Watch symphogear.

As someone whose interest in the show was efficiently and viciously curbstomped by Mars Brightest, that's a real shame to hear. I can't believe that arc went for more than three episodes.
