Sorry if this isn't the right place to put it, but some joker has uploaded a >14-minute slowed video entitled "Dmitri Petrov's Fall" to the Henry Stickmin Series video examples and I'm not sure what the procedure for removing this would be?

[up][up]I think it's gotten corrupted. I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that when it was uploaded.

So, just two things to say:

  1. I think a work-around that initial issue I brought up regarding whether a scene can be sourced to another trope it applies to or not - I'm likely going to find another scene from the same media which illustrates that second trope a scene applies to, or not at all. Gilligan Cut has plenty of videos as it does already, and I can apply that "find a different scene" idea to some other video ideas I have.

  2. Secondly, would the minute and a half from this video (timestamped) be illustrative for Talking To Himself? I'll add this to the description:
Probe asks who'd be power-hungry enough to voice seven characters. Anas Abdul Aziz voices Adu Du, BoBoiBoy's Granddad, Mr. Kumar, Mr. Mat, Yoyo Oo, the Sleep Monster and finally... Probe himself.

Edit: I should mention that the video I linked is in Malay (no captions available), I was wondering if the language barrier obstructs things or not.

Edit 2: The Talking To Himself video example I mentioned here is up now.

A few people at the video moderation requests thread, myself included, have noticed that some videos mistakenly have [Trope Name] listed as what they're an example of and are wondering what causes it to happen. I have never uploaded a video example, but I do know video examples can only be uploaded via editing what trope it's supposed to be for. This rules out the possibility of [Trope Name] being used as a placeholder on the form and people not changing it, and makes people uploading examples not intended for that trope through the page unlikely.

It could be something happening during the upload and approval process that loses the data of what trope a video should be attached to, with [Trope Name] being substituted as a failsafe. Then again, I have no idea how videos are handled on the back end, so this is just me spitting out theories in the dark.

If anyone has a better idea of what might be going on, feel free to correct me.

Cave Johnson, we're done here.

Do we have any procedures for changing a video's assigned trope? Because I see some on Surprisingly Realistic Outcome that would fit other tropes better.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

Mods can do it, so you can bring it up in the moderation thread.

Can a mod add Only Murders in the Building as the media source of VideoExamples.Number One Dime? I am pretty sure I submitted the source correctly.

I've never uploaded any videos, so I'm not sure of the process.

If one video is an example of several different tropes at the same time, should it be uploaded just once and assigned to all those tropes, or should it be uploaded multiple times, once for each relevant trope?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

I don't think we actually have a concrete answer for that - linking to other tropes via the video source is against the rules, but uploading the same video to multiple tropes is seen as excessive and a bad form of entry pimping (people have brought up videos that have been uploaded to eight or more tropes, in particular, which were brought to this thread but didn't have anything happen with them).

[up][up] Personally I try to avoid reusing footage excessively by, let's say, this one scene illustrates trope A and trope B, but there's another scene in the same show which also illustrates trope B. I'd prefer uploading the former scene for trope A and the latter for trope B. Might not be the same in each case scenario so the pros and cons may have to be weighed. That's my two cents anyway, since I'm less fond of finding the same scene uploaded separately to several tropes, to the point I considered using tropes in media sources but the answer to whether that's allowed or not doesn't seem clear, what with the upload form permitting it and the edit form forbidding it.

I remember bringing this up before, but we never came to a decision or at least a firm ruling on if video source pages should be indexes. It seems like more of them keep showing up and the index footer on pages keeps getting more bloated.

How long does it take for the admins to review your video examples before they can be seen by the world?

Of course, the wait for you depends on when you upload your video. If you get lucky and upload at the end of a cycle, you might just wake up to see your video approved.

Somehow someone uploaded a FNAF video example to the Jump Scare page despite the page itself saying "No Video Examples, Please." Couldn't find an easy way to remove it so I reported it as much as I could.

Also, is it too much to ask that when we report videos, we aren't forced to *watch* the offending content on repeat while we're writing about why it should be removed?

I think the Lindsay Ellis video on All-Star Cast is more an example of Celebrity Voice Actor — she's not discussing individual films with lots of famous people, but rather multiple animated films that bring in celebrities.

Me and ~War Jay 77 think we should have a dedicated Video Moderator role, because we've been getting a lot of video issues, and the moderators can't always be around to do everything.
