Who do you think stands out as the most unpleasant female character in fiction? Here's what would be the biggest factors:

She has a particularly unpleasant personality. Aside from having a snobbish and mean-spirited personality, she bullies others to feed her massive ego. Even going as far as to desecrate the grave of someone related to a person she picks on.
She is incredibly vain. Aside from being obsessed with her looks, she cares more about them than the well-being of others.
She is completely and utterly selfish. She views whoever hangs out with her as little more than tools, and suffers from a serious Lack of Empathy. And if she's dating a male, said boyfriend is either simply used as a means of showing off and not actually having any genuine love for him, or is as much as a douche as she is.

Personally, my vote goes to Chris Hargenson. If she hadn't been killed by Carrie, she probably WOULD have vandalized her grave.

Elizabeth Elliot, Ryan's nemesis in Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears. I was almost disappointed that she wasn't in the movie adaptions. I pictured Liz Hurley playing her.

I'd rather be known as a "wrong 'un" than a "right one".

What about Sandra Tremaine from that old movie called Jennifer? She killed the main character's cat, framed her for it, and tried to send her friends to kidnap her. That's about as bad as one can get IMHO.

Then again, Sarina from Mahou Shoujo Site is also pretty high up there for just being a bitch to the main girl for no reason...Oh, and trying to get a guy to rape her for kicks. That's low.

Now I can't decide whether or not she's worse than Chris. But Chris did kill a pig and dump a bucket of its blood on Carrie after she was crowned prom queen- all because Chris got banned from prom for throwing tampons at Carrie.

I think Alpha Bitch for Dolores Jane Umbridge is a severe understatement but I'd say she fits all those criteria.
