It's "open", in the sense that people who are interested in the University can enter it while they couldn't enter here during any normal day.... , Iuvem explained, ...hoping that no malicious individual, asshole or supreme nutjob enters the University... , he muttered sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
When Wren started to pull Betty's hair, she started laughing. "Hey, hey, soften your pull! It's all natural, hehehe!", she replied to the teleporting harpy.
Oh dear...she can sometimes be too enthusiastic, isn't she?
Iuvem was going to grab Wren. She's pulling to strong! She will mess up her hair if I don't do something!
Betty raised an hand, the index finger sticking out. She did the "no" gesture with it. "Iuvem, there's no need to do that.", she "scolded" Iuvem.
The golem looked confused before frowning.
"Heheheh! Isn't Wrenny cute, Iuvey?", she asked him.
Iuvem's eyes widened. Umm...C-cute? , he spoke akwardly, not noticing that his cheeks became a bit more orange than usual. Betty, noticing this, giggled a bit.
"Huhuhu...I bet you do!", she playfully teased him.
Iuvem's blush became more evident. No, I don't... , he said sheepishly, as he turned his back at her, still flustered.
I'm not going to let Betty win...
"Yes", she replied, with a grin.
No , was Iuvem's response.
"Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yes", No , "Yessss", Nooope , "Yeeeeep", Noooooope .
"yes", she was annoying him so much, wasn't she.
NO! , he turned around and shouted. He then blushed, realizing what he had just done.
Okay, okay, I admit it. She's cute... , he said with an embarassed sigh...

“Quite a few new faces from last time!” Alive chirped as she looked around from her seat while Zach continued to idly lean back. She pointed around. “I recognize her and him, I know that young man...the golem is new though.”
That’s Jupiter, ma. Or, whatever’s left of it.
“Oooooh...neat!” She giggles and nodded for a moment. “Zach...I wish I could tell me what’s wrong. You know how I feel every time you willingly keep something from me.”
Zach looked up towards the ceiling, deeply inhaling before he turned to her.
Ma, what would you say to me...leaving the University?
Alice didn’t show any reaction yet, but all she did was look at him evenly. “Is there any-“
A lot. Something in me's...wrong. Something in me broke last year and...I do t think I can hide it, or pretend it’s not there. What if something happens, and I lock up and make it worse, or if I end up back then, to what happened, and...I can’t tell what’s real and what’s a memory, and I start...hurting people...
Alice nodded her head for a moment. “Alright. Say you leave. What would you do with your time?”
Try to heal. Be a better person...be there for Yoko and the kids.
Alice smiled. “Sweetie, sometimes it takes a lot of bravery to admit there’s something wrong...and the fact is, you need to put yourself first in this sorta situation.” She nodded. “If it’s something you want to do, I’ll support it.”
He nodded his head a little bit, rubbing his hands and sighing. Maybe I should-
“Talk to Yoko first, I agree.” She nodded firmly. “You...well, she’s a fox god guardian of the world, if anything it’s you that needs to come up with a possible plan for the future.”
Zach smiled. Thanks ma. Love the blatant confidence.
She grinned and pinched his cheek. “Now stop being a wallflower and introduce me to your new friends.”

“Exactly. Wren confusion because bad men hurt. Could have good come in secret. Open could be very bad.”
The creature soon dropped the subject after finally disentangling her claws from Betty's hair, and cocked her head to one side at their ensuing bickering. She almost seemed amazed by them as she sat back on her haunches—head flicking from left to right as she unconsciously mouthed that strange word.
“Cute. Cute. Cuuuute. What's cute? Wren know pretty. Wren doesn't know cute. Is cute good? Wren gets called cute lots, but Wren don't understand. Wren don't understand lot of things,” she added with a slight hint of melancholy, slumping into herself a little and letting her feathers ruffle again.
A short, but nevertheless pronounced bang indicated Yoko's arrival; materializing with an accompanying bolt of lightning in the rough centre of the gym and immediately making a beeline for the nearest seat—Saori and Mikoto's cots trailing behind her in the air. She looked exhausted, but nonetheless content, sending a grin and a short wave to Zach and the others before diverting her attention to the little ones.
She'd returned to her celestial form since they were in private now, but also because shapeshifting was a lot more tiring than it used to be. She supposed with the greater amount of power she had it was harder to suppress it whenever she changed form. Much like how the older Mikoto had looked fatigued whenever he tried to hold back his aura.
Not that his current-time countertpart was bothering to do that at all. He was practically floating.
As Wren stopped pulling her hair, Betty adjusted her hair a bit.
Her mimicry was so strange for them, yet so interesting. Hearing Iuvem's deep, booming voice from her was un natural...
"Cute is a good word. It's kinda like pretty!", she explained.
Iuvem looked at Wren. He frowned.
No...don't be sad... , Iuvem knelt down on one knee, ...When I got saved by ETHEL, I didn't know or understand anything about Earth...before that, I was just a planet that was just orbiting its star. The only thing I knew was that I had other planets that were orbiting their star, like me, and that we, the stars and the galaxies were obeying the will of the universe... , he told her, in a somber tone, ...but then, thanks to some intergalactic rascals, I ended up here, with no knowledge of this world. But despite that, I still managed to learn about many things in this world: its inhabitants, its culture, its languages and its history... , Iuvem said with a reassuring tone and a faint blush, ...And I think you will learn and understand many things in this world too... , he reassuringly patted one of Wren's shoulders, in a gentle way.
Wren seemed to pause as he spoke, looking down at the hand on her shoulder with a squint of consideration, before glancing back up at the golem with a thoughtful expression and poking him in the chest with a claw.
“You talk lots. But Wren understand, yes. Wren learn lots of things. Wren do speakings better now. Wren let touch better now. Lots of things–”
She cut herself off rather abruptly as something occurred to her, and she looked him up and down before she tilted her head to one side yet again and began staring at him.
“Cute like pretty, yes? Do you think Wren's pretty?”
Iuvem, at Wren's question, became silent.
Dear god. What...What's happening to me? In the first day, while I didn't exactly speak with her or anything like that, I kinda became interested in her...randomly having the thought of "analyzing" her or something..., he thought, reflecting on the past.
Is...is this strange type of interest...love?, he realized.
Did I like her because she got a relatable background?, he asked himself.
Awwwwww...there's love in the air , he could hear Pandora's comment.
He didn't reply to the snark. His gaze was locked on Wren's glowing red eyes, then on his tutor's supporting smile, and then on Wren's visage again.
Yes... , he said bashfully, I think you're pretty! , he gave her a toothy smile.
Vivian Courthope was tired. Too damned bloody tired. She'd been up multiple nights trying to harden the Suit against another attack. She'd been having weird dreams, some involving the attack downtown, and some not. The pictures of their enemies were stored safely away along with the pics of Perry's runes (as blurry as they were). On top of it, she'd tried to fit in more workouts and training in case the Suit DID go wonky again.
Checking her phone, she saw that the drone she set to monitor the room was doing fine. Against magic, she doubted it would work, but at least it and the two patrolling outside could provide a heads-up. I wish I'd been able to send one after the Guardians. Maybe seen where they went. I hate not knowing stuff.
The Suit itself was stored safely in a nearby closet so that she wouldn't have to, say, burst through the wall. Maybe a more portable version...
Shaking off her thoughts, Vivian scanned the room from her corner. She'd asked her own parents not to come; she was just too paranoid about another attack, and besides, she would be the first to admit that they were not as...progressive as she was about metas. There was Martin looking like he'd swallowed a cactus. The snotlings. Shane being Shane (yeah, that was definitely his dad. She debated having the drone record their conversation then decided against it). Some lady and Iuvem playing with Bad Wrenny. Zach having a heart-to-heart. Angel Girl and Dead Boy chatting. Perry talking excitedly to...no-one. And finally her goal.
Wandering over, she was just in time to see Evelyn "fall" into Clay's arms. Smooth, girl. "Hey, you two. How goes it? I'm really sorry I couldn't make it to the hospital, but I got the sense you didn't want a crowd anyway? You look a lot better, E."

Roboctopus felt this was all a bit stupid. An Open House was such a waste of time, nothing more than a posturing for the university to feel good about themselves and puff out their chests. He could think of so many more productive uses of his time. He had just gotten some Irvine Welsh novels that he'd heard were amazing. He was also making a lot of headway on cloning a new body for his mind to transfer into. His latest body was unstable and had collapsed in less than 24 hours but that was still progress. Another month or two and he'd surely have it down pat. He'd much rather be working on that.
But, he would trust in the system. So, as it was, he stood awkwardly in the gym for this Open House that he wanted no part of. It wasn't like he had anybody to visit him anyways...
"Oh! Look at that, looks like we can kill two birds with one stone." Alice grinned and immediately made a move to her soon-to-be-daughter-in-law and, wisely, resisted the urge to pull her into a deep hug.
She knew better than anyone the sight of an exhausted mother with too much on her mind. So, she looked over the Zach and gestured with her head.
"Here, sweetheart, I'll give you some breathing room." She whispered to Yoko and immediately scooped up both of the twins, giving them a little bounce and a giggle. "Come on, you two! Obaasan hasn't seen you in forever and I just wanna squeeze your little cheeks!" She cooed down to her grandchildren.
Saori nuzzled the little toy knife. It was a little alarming.
As she passed Zach, she looked at him with that look only a mother could make and nodded her head. "Talk to her." She whispered. "This'll be good. For both of you."
Zach sat down beside Yoko, both, ironically, looking tired. He wondered, for a moment, if this was the right thing to do. A part of him was worried about how she would even take it. Would she think less of him? Would she be disappointed at it? A million thoughts went through his mind in the span of about 5 seconds of silence, as he found his hands very, very interesting as opposed to the whirlwind of conflict in his mind.
So, naturally, because his body, and his powers, hated him, they spoke FOR him.
I think I should leave. He looked up and saw the words lingering there in the air, a little annoyed at it but not exactly trying to fight against them. Leave as in...leave the University. I don't think I'm cut out to be a hero... He gently tapped his temple and looked at her from the corner of his eyes. I think...I think what I should do is focus more on us. Focus more on the kids. Focus more on the family. That's stressful enough being in school, raising kids, fighting off mental problems...I think I should leave. And just...try to be a good dad and husband.
He looked back down at his shoes.
I hope that doesn't upset you.
Oblivious to the undertones of the conversation, Wren wondered why he was taking so long to reply before finally breaking out into a toothy smile upon hearing his confirmation; perhaps the first genuine grin she had displayed since her arrival. And unlike her mimicry, it seemed honest.
“Thanks! Wren pretty! Wreeen pretty~!” she sang in a cheerful tone, brightening considerably as she scampered about and 'ported from place to place with a newfound energy.
Mama say pretty, but big one not Mama. Wren like pretty. Make Wren happy.
“Mamaaa! Big one say Wren pretty!”
Apparently, her learned grammar didn't hold up too well when she was excited.
“Hey, Viv,” the albino replied with a shift of the head, pushing off of Clay for a moment so she could look the other girl in the face. “It's okay. I... well they say I was kinda delirious anyway, so... I think I'd rather you hadn't seen me! I... I probably said some weird... things.”
She frowned for a moment, before shaking it off and smiling. Her eyes (apart from being very wide) were also rather piercing, and without the majority of the blood blocking them up now they also gave off the impression of someone with a boatload of insight.
In that they were lively and constantly changing in expression, of course. It made one wonder just how much more her hyphema had blocked excluding her vision.
“It's kinda weird to see you all now...” she admitted, eyes trailing across the room for a moment before reluctantly moving back to look at Vivian. “It's... not how I remember it...”
The kyūbi nodded in thanks as Alice offered to entertain the kids, smiling a little at her usage of gratuitous Japanese before registering Zach's presence and turning to him slightly.
Alice whispered something to him, and she noted he looked troubled. With a slight sense of trepidation, she inclined her head towards him in order to listen.
Thankfully he continued on before she could have a heart attack on the spot, and she unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief once she realised what he was actually talking about. Trying to squash down that familiar swell of panic that had momentarily reared its head, she ran her fingers through her hair—slightly entangling the previously neat cut before clearing her throat and patting it back into place.
“I think that's good,” she said a little too quickly, before clearing her throat and continuing: “I mean... I was kinda thinking that too... like... especially with what happened last time...”
She swallowed a little, before shaking her head and carrying on; reaching out for his hand and gripping it loosely.
“But... it's up to you. Wherever you go, I'll be with you. I promise. Okay? If you think this'll help us– help you, then I can't think of any reason why not. You've done enough already anyway. I think after all that you deserve this.”
She smiled at him, eyes flicking ahead for a brief second and gaining a glimmer of reminiscence.
“Hayato-san... Hayato-san used to be like you...” she muttered quietly, squeezing his hand a little for comfort. “Freezing up, I mean... I don't know what it's called, but he was a soldier, and I don't think he was cut out for it either...”
She leaned her head against him, closing her eyes as she rested herself against his shoulder.
“It's nothing new, Zach. It's not anything strange. You just have to do what you can do. If you can't handle it, then take a step back and look at it another way. There's no shame in running, as long as you know where you're going.”
Her lips quirked upwards a little, and she sunk further into his shoulder as her exhaustion finally began to catch up to her.
“...and I'll run with you... all the way.”
It was pretty obvious it was a thought that had been weighing in on his mind for some time...so when Yoko expressed her desire to stay beside him, no matter where it went, he felt that massive weight just...vanish. Relieved to the point of wanting to break down, but resisting the urge to do so.
She was tired. He could tell. Tired between being a guardian, being a mother, being a student...anyone would be, god-like powers or no. His mom was right. This would be good for both of them. He leaned his head against hers and rested it there for a moment, his eyes closed and enjoying the closeness, the serenity, the fact that for the first time in months, the storm in his brain had ceased, and the knowledge he would just have to worry about his family was the only thing that mattered.
And by god, was it a freeing thought. I'm going to leave. And focus on us.
Man, what a great, great idea.
His fingers slipped between hers and he nodded. Settled then. He wrote for her to see again, a tired little smile on his face. We leave. We focus on family. We go where we can and how far we can. We just...be. He grinned, only a little bit.
Besides...I don't mind just being a hero to my kids, anyway. He leaned to the side and pressed his lips against her forehead, in a moment of silent thanks. I love you, Yoko...
Iuvem looked at Wren. She seems to be oblivious to his love, and he's not surprised by that...
Once she properly learns about feelings like love, she will understand. He...he's sure of it! He managed to relate a bit with her.
I'm making baby steps, but these steps will grow into...man steps? Yeah, that's right. Man steps!
In the meantime, anyway, he made her smile!
"Who is this 'Mama' she's talking about, I wonder?", Betty asked the golem.
I think she's talking about Ellie... , he replied. The demoness has taken a motherly liking to Wren, from what he could see in the first day and during their "transit center" mission...
"You mean Freisch's girlfriend?", she was in "disbelief", "How shocking!", she exclaimed, with bubbly enthusiasm.
...Really? , Iuvem said, with a slight grimace. Betty just gave him a "thumbs up" with a toothy smile. The Jovian golem rolled his eyes before chuckling.
“Love you too, sweetie...” she murmured back, smiling to herself at the kiss to her forehead before nuzzling into his neck; ears twitching atop her head. She'd have reciprocated the gesture, but considering she'd fallen asleep seconds afterward she probably didn't have the energy to even lift her own head up again.
Though it was with fading consciousness she couldn't help but think how perfect it all felt. She missed this feeling of utter safety and relaxation, and couldn't wait for it to become the norm. Yes, she still had her guardian duties, but that could always be passed on to another qualified kitsune if she needed the break.
Now all I have to worry about is the kids, Zach, myself, the yōkai, and the entire world. Sounds about right, she thought amusedly, before her intelligent thought was finally overridden by abstract dreaming.
Suddenly a tall, glamorous woman surrounded by pink sparkling dust appeared in a flash of light. Her body was covered in red and gold leaves, and her long purple hair glimmered as it floated in the moonlight. Her skin was splattered with paint the same color as her leaves, and her bright blue eyes almost seemed to dance in the starlight. She floated above the ground and twirled, only stopping to announce the arrival of their leader. "So sorry I'm late! Got a bit busy. Those wine barrels won't drink themselves! Anyway, I suppose I had better bring her in!"
A snap of her fingers and another flash filled the clearing. When the smoke cleared, a woman was standing in the pale moonlight wearing nothing but a loincloth and wraparound cloth. Black fur covered her from head to toe as she stood tall, stretching out her body as her long tail swished back and forth. Two pointy ears stood atop her head as she scanned her surroundings, her sharp yellow eyes piercing through the darkness. She quickly saw her compatriots, a slow smile revealing several sharp pointed teeth as she purred.
The catwoman turned to the woman dressed in leaves. "Thank you, Titania. Teleportation still isn't one of my strong suits."
"Think nothing of it, Selena! After all, what are friends for?"
"Quite." She then turned to the others. She was still purring, still smiling, but her eyes became ever sharper and more intense as she gazed upon her so-called allies. Assuming they all weren't in it for their own gain. "Greetings and salutations! So glad you could make it! Well, most of you. But I suppose Luce can be filled in later. So, to start with. I take it one of you managed to retrieve what we were looking for?"
Gym - Squad 1 - Ellie
Ellie warped into the Gym just in time to see Wren hopping about giddily, and she giggled as she scooped her daughter up. "Aww, did you make another friend, Wren? Remember to always say 'thank you' when someone gives you a compliment."
She shifted Wren to one arm, so she could offer a handshake to Betty. "Hi, I'm Ellie. I'm Wren's 'Mama'. And Mikael's her papa, but she calls him 'Other Mama'. You must be Iuvem's... uh, guardian? It's nice to meet you."
He almost didn't bother showing up, since his father was going to be busy. He was pretty much always busy, being a Demon Lord and whatnot. He didn't begrudge his family not visiting. They were only ever a teleport away, so he'd popped in to see them pretty much every other weekend.
Nonetheless, Mikael ported into the Gym alongside his lover, taking a long swig from a flask. He belatedly noticed Ellie was talking to someone, and gave the planet-golem and scientist a nod. "Mikael Freisch. Charmed."
No sooner had Selena spoken than the Antichrist himself showed up in an even brighter flash of light, drifting gently down onto a stump upon black wings, and lounging upon it in a 'paint-me-like-one-of-your-french-Angels' pose.
"Fret not, your lord and savior has arrived." He announced, then smirked smugly. "See, I can be flashy too."
Whether he'd actually been late or was simply waiting for Selena and Titania to show up first was impossible to tell.
Shane and Jason - Open House
And of course when Shane saw Zach and Yoko, he decided he just had to run over and make sure his dad met the two of them. "Heh—-Hey, Zach-Attack, Yokster, wanted to make sure you met my dad."
Shane gestured at Jason, who walked over and grinned, stating, "So these are the love birds eh? Aww don't they just look sweet. I'm Shane's pops, Jason, sweet to meet my kid's Squad mates..."
Shane promptly introduced his dad, "This is my dad, Jason. He's...uhh...he's pretty animate."
"Pretty animate...? That's one way of describing the guy that outlifted you last year, man!" And with that Jason had grabbed Shane and started giving him a noogie.
The Vampire Family - Squad 3 Open House
Van was just about ready to give up on the very idea of his family showing up when suddenly about five masses of bats swarmed into view near Squad 3 and more specifically, in front of Van. Van's eyes went wide, he didn't know whether to be excited or dread this moment.
The bats formed and changed into humanoid shapes.
First to make a move was Van's immediately older brother Sabas, and it seemed no amount of argument had gotten him to change up his rakish look. From his tattered robe to his lack of a shirt and gourd on his back, he definitely gave off a strange vibe. "Hey baby brother. Figured I should at least show up...I'm just gonna treat myself to the alcohol. You need me, you know where to find me."
The next was a glomp from Van's immediately younger brother Claudio. "Vanny! I missed you so much! Oh my gosh there are so many people oh my gosh there's a cute ghost girl oh my gosh there's a hotmusclechickcanIgotalktothemcomeonI'vebeengoodI—-"
Van managed to put Claudio back on the ground - looking about thirteen, Claudio was a boy with bushy straw blond hair, with a skinny but somewhat muscular build, wearing a trendy TV Show shirt, jeans and sneakers. Claudio seemed cute, but as Van thought, he was like the little poison spitting saurian from that one Spielberg movie - don't take him for a pure cutie.
The oldest brother, Nikolas, seemed completely uninterested until he saw Ellie over there, and got a hungry look on his face. Nikolas best exemplified the idea of a handsome but quite cruel man, though he did have his odd nice moments. Nikolas was astonishingly handsome indeed, well coiffed black hair, a very well muscled body visible through a button up shirt and tight dress pants, and just enough stubble to look good without looking too scruffy.
And the last to make an overt move was Van's father - best described as a reflection, almost perfect but not quite, of peoples' conception of Vlad Dracula. Dressed in a long coat, with a noticeable beard, dark haired and eerie, he seemed to have armor on under his coat. This was Lord Valter S. Tepes, son of the legendary blood lord. "Ahh my dear son, it has been far, far too long."
Van looked to the side, and then back at his dad and smiled.
Nodding in agreement with what Tamamo had to say about dealing with the heroes, while quietly deciding to look into some of his plans, the sphinx was not entirely surprised that a lord of sin would be late. After all, sloth was included amidst the sins.
"...A lord and savior who chatted with Mikael for a bit, and then hopped off." He remarked, and gestured at Tess, "The young lady was the one who found the artifact. While I engaged Squad 4, I managed to embed hostile programming into the equipment of one of our young opponents - aught should come of that detail."
Edited by NickTheSwing on Apr 23rd 2019 at 7:10:23 AM
Selena purred like a kitten. "I see. Well then. Care to show us the artifact, Tess?" Over the course of her career, Selena had grown a habit of rarely taking someone at their word. More often than not the result was broken hopes and shattered dreams. At the end of the day, all that mattered was proof.
"Here you go. I hope this has been good work..."
"Progress...this is progress...you are getting there, Tess..."
Edited by LovelyMagicianSavvy on Apr 22nd 2019 at 7:25:01 AM
Selena slowly, carefully took the artifact from Tess' hands. "Oh, I believe it has." She took a moment to study it, marveling at the design work and sheer craftsmanship that went into it. "This had to have been made around the 10th century AD. You can tell by the pattern in which it was weaved. But this can wait. Thank you, Tess. I assure you, once we're finished, we'll all get what we want. Yourself included." She handed the artifact to Titania who promptly poofed it away for safekeeping, presumably to a place where no-one else could find it.
"Now, before we discuss our next move, there's something I just noticed that I want clarified." She turned to Malhareff. 'Squad 4', you say? As in from Saint Academy? Though I suppose they're calling it Saint University now. That could prove to be troublesome. Was there anyone there of note? Anyone or anything that stood out?"
The melancholy moment of serenity was ruined by Shane, as one does, but it was less...annoyance than it usually was. His eyes opened up and glanced at his squad mate, looking a little bit more serene as he gently "pulled away" from Yoko. And by pulled away, he left a double in his place for her to rest on, knowing she deserved to get a little bit of sleep after everything she'd been through.
Pleasure to meet you sir. He said with a grin. Suddenly understanding everything about Shane in one short meeting with his father. What a fun little introspective.
Hey, Shane. Just wanted to give you a little heads up. It felt weird making SHANE the first person to tell this to, but given that Sam wasn't here, Ellie was off with Mikael and Wren was Wren-ing it up somewhere, it felt fitting to tell the first person that approached him. He looked back at Yoko for one more quick glance before he turned back to Shane. Taking a deep breath, he let the true drop.
Me and Yoko are leaving the university. We just wanted to tell you so you didn't get blind sided.
At that Jason backed off and watched.
If reactions had sound effects, the sound Shane's reaction would make would be broken glass. He just couldn't have even seen this coming. They triumphed over fucking Nazis together! He immediately tried to laugh it off, though it was a remarkably hollow laugh, "Ahhahahah...dude you're...you're pranking me, right? Right? This is like, getting me back for all my shenanigans!"
He paused and gave it a moment.
He tried to parse this. Where - why - how?
Jason looked somewhat concerned at his son, "...Shane...my man, I think they're serious."
Shane turned to the side, immediately biting a lip - starting to breathe heavily, "...No, no no no no—-it-its a joke, isn't it? Any moment you'll be like. Like, what're those? Or—-wor you shrank my workout gloves in the wash. Something like that." But as Shane went on, it was very clear he was desperate to believe this was just a prank on him.
Malhareff promptly activated his glowing miniature pyramid again, showing Selena the images of the Squad he had encountered. He promptly stated his observations, "In as far as members who stood out...Evelyn, the psychic girl, does seem to possess an uncommon variation on psionic gifts - my records did not indicate the other with her, Clay, possessed psychic abilities, yet he was able to redirect my psychic strike at Evelyn into himself. I believe this trend toward self sacrifice can be...exploited."
He then went on to the next, "Vivian is what I would describe as a wedge into the school, should they move to oppose us more openly. She is feckless, overeager, bratty, and did not hesitate to throw herself into battle using a mechsuit even amidst downed civilians - and without knowing of what gifts I possess."
Next on the list... "This little girl, Perry...I detected a most curious mental signature from her. Based on my opposition research, she has a curious and powerful heritage. It would be wise to watch this one."

Jumping Bean (3)
Rain Blade had heaved a casket of celestial wine onto the drinks table and dusted his hands off. "There, that's my contribution to this party. Seven Flower Brew. Strong but fragrant stuff."
"I don't think—well, most people here are adults..." Lily Dart said cautiously, looking around.
"Come on, Ama, Adie! Ganbei!" Jumping Bean said, already proposing a toast. They all drank up.
Morrigan bent over to whisper into Perry's ear about the exact nature of her presents. Perry could only be seen nodding to herself with a serious look on her face.
"Don't open that black letter 'til your curses have broken and you can use these things properly," he said. "The curses are weakening, so you might start...feeling more. You need to be strong; It won't be that much longer before they go poof. I'm out of time here. Take care, kiddo!"
As his invisibility wore off, he hastily stepped back into the shadows and exited the premises, hoping to be stealthy. Outside, he could be seen swiping vertically at the air with his scythe, opening up a rift to the Other Side. He stepped through and it disappeared.
Perry was left with her gifts, packaged in what looked like ordinary cardboard and packing tape. She approached Van and his family.
"Vaaaaaaaan," she called. "Vaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! Hi, Van's family. Need knife to open gifts. Not big mean sword. You got that, but need small nice knife. If you have big sword, then you have knife. Perry not want to break gifts with teeth or claws. Help please."
"You old," she said to Valter, not seeming to want to insult him—rather, she seemed like she wanted to to state a fact. "Same feeling as month before, when bad guys made feeling go away after doing bad hurty things to people, and run. Feels like too many teeth. Big thick walls. Castle? Castle does not move. Too many teeth."
She then sniffed.
"Do you like kitties?" she asked, gesturing to Lucky, who was licking a wet paw disinterestedly.

Greetings, Mikael and Ellie... , he saluted them, nodding.
Betty excitedly shaked her hand with Ellie's.
"It's nice to meet you too, guys!", she said to the demon lovebirds, enthusiastic, "I am Belly Glove, Iuvem's guardian...or his tutor...or his adoptive mother, hihi!", she introduced herself to them.
Oh god...I think I found another parallel between Wren and me...we are got foster parents. Our "true" parents are not dead...I think. My parent...the Universe...is not dead as of now. I don't know about Wren's biological parents though...if she even got them...., Iuvem thought.
She turned her eyes to Chibuzo as he approached, only just keeping a look of disgust off of her face. "You keep coming to talk to me, as if that is a thing you should be able to do," her archangel reached for its blade but was calmed by a gesture from Violet. "But in the spirit of cooperation, no my family will not be joining this...meeting." she had no idea how to describe this type of gathering. No business deals were being made, no big presentation was being put forth, it was just, standing around and talking. "But I am happy, because being to busy to deal with something like this means that my family is doing well for itself. To have time in the day for...this... is something to pity."
Clay looked at Evelyn and couldn't help but laugh a bit, resting a hand atop her head but careful to avoid anything that might cause her harm. "Darlin if you think that this mug is cute, then you best avoid puppies and kittens because I don't think your heart is going to be able to handle it." he smiled as Vivian approached, reaching up a hand to tip his hat to her. "Good to see you back in the field, see that you are going about as stag as I am." most of the people entered with their families, so seeing the few of them without made it quite obvious.
“Big One called Wren pretty, Mama,” she giggled as she was lifted up, smile still present on her face. “Hair said pretty like cute, and Big One called Wren cute. So Big One called Wren pretty.”
It was a bit roundabout by the way she'd said it, but she looked happy enough about it.
“Mama knows Wren Mama, yes? Wren Mama is Wren Mama. Open House thingy needs Mamas, yes? Can Wren show Wren Mama?”
And her vocabulary needed stretching a little more, apparently.
I wonder when they'll show up, Evelyn thought anxiously to herself, shifting her position near Clay so she could see better and veeery slightly cracking open her Third Eye in order to draw her crutches back up into her hands. I hope they'll get here okay–
Her thoughts dropped almost as fast as her crutches clattered onto the floor, and the girl ran in such a fashion that it was like she was never injured at all. Though once she reached her destination—a kindly elderly couple who had just arrived—her knees buckled, but she managed to throw her arms around them in a hug of greeting just in time to catch herself.
Not a lot of words were passed between them initially; Evelyn simply pulled them both into a tighter embrace. It seemed to do most of the communicating for them.
“Hey Mom. Hey Dad.”
The couple seemed to smile, looking over the small girl's shoulder at the rest of those in the room for a moment before diverting their attention fully down to the one in their arms.
