Main ~ Discussion

This was an April Fools joke. As such, it is not open for signups.

Hello there…BOIS.

My name is Big Pete, and I talk loud because I'm big, yo. I also happen to be responsible for the protection and maintenance for Multidimensional System #3, and it appears we are in grave danger.

Not long ago I worked with a pair of powerful brothers, whose names I shall not mention, to bring an end to the rule of Kek, the leader of the Order of the Dark Oats. Kek had enslaved the universe and more importantly denied oats to everyone except himself.

He was defeated, but I have begun to notice distortions in the dimensions. Someone is violating the dimensional order, and I have every reason to believe that whoever it is plans to revive Kek.

However, the two brothers have mysteriously vanished since initially defeating Kek, and all my attempts to find them have ended in failure. So I am forced to resort to drastic measures.

If you are hearing this message, you have what it takes to correct the dimensional order and prevent the return of Kek. I have sent this message out in order to reach you. If we join together, we can put an end to this grave matter.

That's enough information for now. Answer my call to hear more, for otherwise I would have to kill you if I told you anything more.

Welcome to the Oats Roleplay!

This is an RP based on The Oats Series. For those of you unfamiliar with that series, it revolves around the quest of two pig brothers as they seek the oats they crave, dealing with ancient conspiracies, powerful gods, and dimensional weirdness along the way.

The premise of this RP is an alternate scenario set after the first Oats Movie. After defeating the frog god Kek, the brothers have mysteriously vanished. This wouldn't be such a big deal if the universe was as safe as they left it, but it isn't. Dark forces are at work to distort the dimensions, bringing chaos and destruction, and most importantly leaving everyone with NO OATS.

Since he couldn't find the brothers, resident Big Good and trigod Big Pete has sent out a distress call to pigs everywhere, in the hopes that he can put together a crew powerful enough to stop the coming apocalypse. Those pigs are who you will be playing as.

For those of you who haven't watched the Oats Series, don't worry about not understanding things. As to be expected from a series based on a meme, it's all played for laughs and little has a concrete explanation. In fact I imagine this RP will explain some things better than the source material.

Rules and Guidelines

  • All general forum rules and general roleplaying rules apply. This should go without saying.
  • Your characters are pigs.
    • Despite Big Pete calling those he's trying to recruit BOIS, there's no restrictions on gender.
    • Powers are...very poorly defined in this series. As such I'm not putting a ton of restrictions on powers here. Just don't use anything that would deny other players agency or violate forum rules (e.g mind control, complete invincibility, reality warping).
    • Only one character is allowed per player, unless you want to play a pair of closely related characters (siblings, best friends, etc.).
    • If you're not happy with your initial character, you can switch to another one up to three times. After that, you are limited to your current character or those you previously created.
    • You're playing as original characters here. Canon characters are off-limits.
  • I'm not going to be stingy about posting rates, but I do request that you wait for at least a day (24 hours) for everyone involved in a given scene to post before posting again.

Setting Details

The series, and thus this RP, takes place in what is known as Multidimensional System 3, consisting of four separate dimensions: the Dimension of Oats, the Dimension of Pigs, the Dimension of Tax Exemptions, and the Dimension of Humans.

Your characters are from the Dimension of Pigs, where pigs are the dominant species. Oddly enough some pigs are under the care of human farmers, who treat them like any farmer raising pigs would. That's...pretty much all the explanation the series gives.

For the purposes of this RP, the dimension of pigs is being treated Like Reality, Unless Noted. That is, it's basically the same as real life (or the Dimension of Humans) except that pigs are the dominant species instead of humans.

The dimensions of Oats and Humans will likely be explored at some point and given explanations when the time comes. As for the dimension of Tax Exemptions...that's never explained and will play no part in this roleplay, but it'd sure be nice to live there, wouldn't it?

Signup Sheet

  • Name: Self-explanatory.
  • Gender: Self- explanatory.
  • Appearance: What does your character look like? Pictures or text descriptions will work, assuming your character looks different from any other pig.
  • Personality: Who is your character and how can they be expected to behave?
  • Backstory: Where did your character come from and how did they become the person (well, pig) they are today?
  • Transformation: Transformations in this series basically boil down to color changes accompanied by psychedelic visuals. For the purposes of this RP, I'm going to make it so that the characters need to transform in order to use their other abilities.
    • Basically, this part boils down to "What does your character's transformation look like, and what does it bestow on the character?" Does it make them stronger and tougher? Heighten their senses? Something completely off-beat?
  • Powers: What abilities can your character use?
    • The series doesn't define what one can and can't do. As such, I'm not putting extreme restrictions on powers. I do reserve the right to nerf or outright remove abilities based on game balance, however.
  • Skills: Does your character have anything they can do outside of their powers?
    • Pigs in this setting aren't necessarily hindered by being pigs; feel free to give them skills that pigs wouldn't normally be able to do. After all, you'll never know what will come in handy in a setting as weird as this.

Active Characters

If you don't post for a month with no explanation, I will assume you have dropped the game and remove you from this list. You're welcome to come back with either the same character or a new one (provided you haven't already hit the three-character limit), but if you drop out and try to rejoin repeatedly I will most likely deny you entry.

  • Name: Kuporko Koumori
  • Gender: Sow
  • Appearance: A pig with a black wig on.
  • Personality: Lascivious, sociopathic and ever the jokester, Kuporko is a strange pig. From birth, she's had the unfortunate tendency to go around murdering other porkers for no better reason than to see them bleed. Nowadays, she at least has a tendency to only viciously kill those who wanna make her into prosciutto, but even then she's still wantonly cruel and violent. Also, she's a real lady's pig. Just don't expect her to be faithful.
  • Backstory: Racking up over 700 counts of murder in the first degree, Kuporko was only granted a stay from being transported to the Other Place if she promised to go and hunt other serial slaughterers with her uncanny skills. Now living with her kinda fucking dumb piglet friend Hinako Pickled-Pig's-Toezakura and a cavalcade of other violent sows who generally show some kind of romantic interest in her, she...generally shoots people and stuff.
  • Transformation: She turns into a greyscale version of herself, and her speed stat is increased by a multiplicative amount related to the amount of GP (currency) in her inventory.
  • Powers:
    • Can shoot guns: Despite being a pig and lacking the hands or dextrous tongue required to actually hold a firearm, Kuporko is able to dual wield Deagles with great skill.
    • Spider-Pig Sense: Has an unusual form of precognition that allows her to sense danger as it happens around her, and react with incredible speed as it happens. But not EVERYTHING, you know, because that'd be broken. Basically, she can dodge stuff really good.
    • Corvid Sign 「Certain Death」: A holdover from her brief adventure into an alternate dimension, she can invoke this spellcard to summon multiple dark energy spheres around her that rapidly rotate and block damage.
  • Skills: She's good at cooking things kosher, and can also pork other people pretty good.

I'm assuming GP refers to some kind of currency, just looking at the rest of the sheet. That should probably be clarified.

She also won't have a 100% dodge rate against everything the P Cs might come across.

Past that, I see nothing overly wrong with this sheet. Just make a note of the above changes and you'll be accepted.

With April 1st coming to a close, it's time to let the cat out of the bag...or the pig out of the poke, as it were.

You might have noticed that the introduction of the OP had certain letters bolded. No, not just the BOIS. While it is in-character for Big Pete to randomly put emphasis on letters like that, if you make a note of all the bolded letters in the order they appear, they spelled out a message.

What was the message? "April Fools."

As much as I obsess over the stupidest things, even I'm not obsessed enough to truly think that this meme series was good enough or popular enough to actually base a roleplay around. Since I actually had an idea for April Fools this year despite normally being bad at coming up with ideas and just not liking April Fools enough in general, I decided to go with it.

If you did cotton on, I hope you had a good laugh. If you didn't, well...I hope you had a good laugh at my apparent over-obsession with something this stupid. Alternatively, if you were actually hoping to get in on this, I apologize.

Granted, if there is somehow an audience for a roleplay revolving around swine dimension-hopping in order to save all of reality, maybe I can come up with something a little more concrete than what the Oats Series has to offer.

I hope you all had a Happy April Fools Day!
