Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (spoilers obviously)

Pretty much anything that involve fighting a powerful sith not being Kylo Ren was gonna fall miserably short, is what I gather, honestly.

Overall seems like a better plot. Rey is handled so much better. The way they get help from the rest of the galaxy is so much better. Finn leading an uprising of regular citizens would have been a better conclusion to his arc as the stormtrooper who defected. Luke being a ghost troll would have been awesome. Not sure how good it would have been, but it certainly would have been better than what we ended up with. It does seem to fall apart at the end again, but it has a pretty good start and middle.

I do have to say I would be very interested to see Hamill play Troll Ghost Luke, especially after his performance as Hallucination!Joker in Arkham Knight

Also at least somebody remembered the Eclipse was a thing and somehow it wasn't the guy ripping off Dark Empire.

Well, I'm pretty sure that image was already haunting Kylo on a regular basis.

If it is a reference to Naruto, Palpatine would be closer to being Madara.

A Kaguya would be if they revived the first Sith that existed. (Ajunta Pall in legends, and "Unidentified rogue Jedi" in the canon)

Even better, instead of being the first sith, it would be an even older user of the dark side, which we have never heard of before.

My only problem is the First order despite taking Massive loss after Massive Loss just seems to have Unlimited Budget and Unlimited troops

Despite the whole point of the first movie pointing out that they are smaller then the New republic...

I like the idea that Rey question the idea of Balance, Luke finally gives the answer that most people miss, ITS NOT MATH its about positive and Negative energy, You don't run up to someone and tell them to be less Happy or thier imbalanced

Its does do the logically thing of Doubling down on Kylo being the main villain which leads to a traci end of the someone not being redeemed

Don't know how to feel about outright contradicting The Rule of 2 something that was stated in the movie and canon for a long time.

Rey being Nobody doesn't make much sense if Snoke had her parents killed. Which means Kylo was being a dick in Last

There’s something interesting about the villains appropriating cultural battle artifacts without the permission of the people they are from.

It’s really evil.

Really it be more coherent since it be less JJ trying to cram his version of episode 8 into 9 and still do episode 9

Hello guys. I don't know if there is a presentation section, so to introduce myself, I am French, so please excuse my poor skills in English, and I am also a Starwars fan.

From the "Duel of the Fates" leaks, it has its wtf moments, but I guess fans would have been more lenient for a new story and a coherent narrative (which "duel of the fates" has more than T Ro S).

But we only have T Ro S "theatrical cut". But how about playing "what recuts/reshoots, as minimal but necessary, to make a more coherent movie", "a Georges lucas edited" version ?

I have read this thread and I liked many suggestions that would have improve the narrative. From my own imaginary retelling of the story of T Ro S, I would include (the nature of the recuts and its purpose) :

1- in the scrolling, before "the dead speaks!" add a sentence stating that "While the First Order is struggling to hold the galaxy in its iron claw" -> to indicate that the efforts of Leia and Luke in TLJ were not in vain

2- on Exegol, during the introduciton of Palpatine, tell that : "I created Snoke, I enforced Snoke, as you destroy only one of my former shell, and as you see me now" -> to highlight that it is not really the historical palpatine, but really the vengeful ghost of the sith, "all the sith" (to make this sentence with more punch as it is real, not metaphoric). It just take a vessel with the apparence of Palpatine to scare the galaxy 3- during the scene with the sky full of Star Destroyers, add : " I once gave such a fleet to Snoke. I will give this one to you, the Final Order" -> to highlight where does the power of the First Order comes from in this trilogy. And on Exegol, add a steel ring like Kuat to show the spaceports building the destroyers.

4 - In Resistance Base : after the training, Rey is reading the book and there is a sketch of the wayfinder. Add her outloud reading "...wayfinder, as it will locate the Force through space and heart" -> to give an hint for a further purpose for this macguffin other than just a star map

Bonus- Endor moon : I really would have like that Rey is not a Palpatine, but a clone. That would explain more the multiple images of her in the lake on Achtoo. She can only see herself, as it is no one else except multiples copies of a force sensitive creation. And on Endor Moon, she would have met another "her". But to not change too much dialogue, we would keep this Rey arc as Palpatine lineage

5 - after all the struggle, through Endor, lightsaber battles, quick exile on Achtoo, she recovers the wayfinder of Kylo Ren. Luke voice would say "the wayfinder will help you find more than you think. Because technological tools are inconsequential compared to the power of the Force" -> The wayfinder is an artefact built by the Sith to also detect all Force sensitive. It was a convenient tool for Vader and his Jedi hunting thing. With the wayfinder and Luke helps, Rey is able to launch a Cosmic Rally call "Help us end this millenia feud from the Sith once and for all" -> this would also help Lando and Chewie tour 6 - new shots, various locations accross the Galaxy : every Force Sensitive people hear the call (it works like the Force Beacon of the "duel of the fates" leaks) -> various shots including Broom boy from TLJ, from Maz Kanata (as she is stated to be Force sensitive), from a podracer in Tatooine, a gentle Hutt, etc etc and shots of Finn and Jannah, and from Ben Solo hearing the call

7 Exegol, final battle : While the Galaxy arrives on Exegol led by the Falcon, shots to show that various Force sensitive people join the civilian fleet : broom boy, the podracer, gentle Hutt. 8 Exegol, final battle : more than showing Wedge and civilian taking down star destroyers, show that the Force can be used in VASTLY DIFFERENT and SUBTLE fashions : - the broom boy can not lift vessel as Rey, but he can budge some cannons to make Friendly fires among Final Order ships - the podracer pilots a ship without lasers cannons - but his skills allow him to evade every ennemy fighter after him and to make them crash on vital locations of destroyers - the gentle hutt actually helps coordinates the actions of the civilian fleet, using a Force persuasion in a different purpose than forcing people to believe 9 - Exegol, throne room : Palpatine (or actually, the vengeful ghost), is frying the Resistance ships, but also disturbing the Force sensitive 10 throne room : Rey hears the voices of all the dead jedis, and rise to face Palpatine. Palpatine yells "I am all the sith". Rey is hearing the past Jedis and says: "and I am all the Jedis" but also the voices of broom boy, podracer, the hutt, Finn, Jannah, and Ben... "from the past, and from now" and she fries Palpatine. To show that it is not only the past Sith vs Jedis, but also past vs future generations. And it is the real reason for her win against Palpatine, she is many against one.

10 - final scene on Tatooine as she burries the sabers, and instead of the unknown woman asking for name : broom boy, podracer, finn and all are on the bridge of the Falcon asking "what do we do now, master Skywalker ?" Rey smiles "This is our first step of our pilgrimage through the Force. I hope I can also bring you to the status of Skywalker knight" -> and Skywalker would be the new name for all Force users. And the Falcon is the new Skywalker academy.

Excuse for the wall of text. Hope it reach the ears of Bad Robot, Lucasfilm or Disney .

Hmm, I don’t know...probably would have been better than we got (which is a bit surprising, given how down a lot of us have been on Trevorrow), but I do wonder if this suggests a level of collaboration between the directors that...doesn’t seem borne out by the final product of Episode IX.

Of course, there could be multiple explanations for this - if this was written merely a week before Carrie’s death, it’s possible that they only really started to hash it out after TLJ entered production, and thus Abrams was not involved. It’s also possible that backlash towards TLJ promoted orders from on high to scrap this script and backpedal as much as possible. And of course, Carrie’s death no doubt threw a wrench into things regardless, although I can’t imagine they would have needed to scrap the whole draft.

Of course, it could just all be bullshit.

Is there a way I can read the full script? I might believe the leak if I could read the fully thing.

I am almost certain this is what happened looking at TROS itself

There's a slim chance the leaks are real. I wouldn't bother with them as anything more than mere spitballing.

Especially in this iron-is-hot moment where everyone's in denial about the new movie.

As for the First Order having crazy amounts of resources... Well the Final Order was definitely built with an infinite engine.

They must have a genie of some kind that gives them this infinite number of weapons and men they seem to have.

Yeah as I stated in the other thread take this alleged script with a grain of salt. I recall an almost identical situation just a month ago regarding “leaked details” about his script for the film that he rather hilariously responded to:

I find it particularly unlikely they’d name the film after a piece of music from the prequel trilogy, no matter how popular and iconic that piece may have been.
