By the time it's safe to go to the movies, we'll all have gone the way of Mad Max, complete with deserts, warlords, obscenely souped-up cars, and the obligatory Thunderdome.
Seriously, screw COVID.
EDIT: Oh shoot, I just realized that moving Morbius to October means it'll be smack dab in the middle of Dune (releasing October 1) and Halloween Kills (releasing October 15).
Think it can handle the competition?

No. I never had much faith in it, the character was never that popular, Leto got serious backlash after Suicide Squad, the constant moves.
Going to bomb hard I think. Don't say that with any real pleasure but I just don't see it working out.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I don't think it's going to bomb hard. They do have that MCU train to latch upon. Expect the following trailers featuring more characters like Jameson and Vulture.
That said, I don't think it's gonna make enough money to justify a franchise. I could see it barely breaking even (budget hasn't been revealed, but it's known is lower than Venom's $80m), not a total bomb, but so little revenue that it will make Sony rethink their whole strategy.
A supposed leaked sneak peek of Venom 2 from the Super Bowl indicates it will be rated R.
You probably mean Sony will have to seriously rethink how their quasi-canon MCU pocket universe will be like going forward, but thanks to the pandemic, "rethink their whole strategy" is going to be a very popular phrase for Hollywood in general.
Sorry, but nope. A website updated its article on the supposed leak.
Long story short, it's fake.
(Probably someone was getting really desperate or was just looking to have a giggle at everyone else's expense.)
Sony is considering a Dusk project.
Dusk. Twenty eight appearances total in comics, has never had a solo ongoing series.
Stay desperate, Sony!
In all seriousness, Dusk is one of the four throwaway aliases Peter used that one time and got picked up by someone else, right? I could see, maybe not those exact circumstances, but at least those characters being adapted.
I mean, they're not smart characters to adapt, but still, it makes a little sense.
But then, the initial Men in Black movie worked because people were already familiar with the idea of guys in suits keeping an eye on alien life before said people knew anything about the comic.
Dusk, meanwhile, doesn't really have that going for her. As Akirakan said, she only ever appeared in 28 issues and was only ever as a part of a team called the Slingers, four people who were given the suits Peter used when he was accused of murder. She fell to her death during the initiation, but then got better because reasons. I mean, the suit somehow let her manipulate shadow and other stuff, but...
It just feels like Sony's already scraping the bottom of the barrel with Dusk. Like, I didn't even know who she was until this got announced.

Morbius moved to January 21 2022.
Let There Be Carnage maintains it's June release date. For now....

The new administration made it clear how behind the old administration was on vaccine distribution plans.
Namely - They didn’t have one.
And without a huge streaming service to use, Sony is forced to kick the can down the road and hope that distribution gets done by then.
Except Carnage to get delayed.
Honestly, Sony might as well just drop Morbius onto Netflix once and for all. They're already having some of their new animated movies over there.
Besides, January is notorious for being a "dump month" for movies, right? So moving Morbius there of all months is rather telling in my book...

Assuming things are relatively normal by then, most audiences are probably going to be starving for movies. Add to that, it would come out right after Spider-Man 3 (assuming it doesn't move either), so it would have momentum going on for it.
Hell, the release dates are so close I wouldn't be surprised if one of the after-credits scenes leads directly to Morbius.
Once again, you're forgetting the big picture— think international.
Streaming is all fine and dandy for the US and (I think) Europe, but not all of the world can quite catch up yet, so it's a rather big gamble if you want to command the equivalent of a typical global box office success. Never forget that.
Besides, it's much easier to quickly distribute a digitally released picture through piracy, precisely appealing to those across the globe who can't allow themselves the luxury of the full streaming experience split between several providers each demanding their own payment. And while the experience of actually going to a movie theater couldn't be matched by piracy, for all intents and purposes it's different when it comes to home releases.
Keanu Reeves has apparently been offered the role of Kraven for a solo movie.
It's described as "a mashup of Man of Fire and Logan".

Not my first choice, but Keanu Reeves as Kraven sounds feasible-ish.
But good grief, Kraven the Hunter, whose whole MO is (obviously) hunting and poaching big game and Spider-Man, sometimes on camera, as a grizzled father type like Din Djarin?
I just can't see it. I'm sorry.

The exodus begins again.
