Nah, I know how they announced a Silk movie way back.
Maybe Disney and Sony re-negotiating their plan to share Spider-Man changed Sony's plans for Silk?
Actually, the way they announce any kind of movie and never have them go beyond development really makes it a wonder they're still hanging on as a movie studio.
Remember how Sony was developing a live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe? Or an animated Ghostbusters movie by the animators of the Clash of Clans commercials? Or even a live-action adaptation of Robotech?
That MOTU movie is probably headed for Netflix, that cartoon Ghostbusters movie probably died when the female-led reboot underperformed, and Robotech is a whole other can of worms that nobody in the legal business wants to touch.

Olivia Wilde has been tapped to direct a female-led movie set in the Sony Marvel Universe.
It's unknown which caharacter is going to be but is very likely to be Jessica Drew.
J.C. Chandor, also known as the director of Triple Frontier, is being heavily considered to direct Kraven the Hunter movie.

Erm. I know it's probably not set in stone right now, but I guess it makes Gina Prince-Bythewood's comments about these Spidey-themed TV shows appearing on Disney+ appear more like a joke than anything...
It still feels like Hollywood is jumping the gun a little too fast with these kinds of projects. I don't know. My head hurts right now.
Honestly, that makes sense. She probably mentioned Disney+ because of the Marvel shows coming soon (hopefully).
There's actual precedence to Sony Pictures Television buddying with Amazon. They've had some good vibes with Amazon with shows like The Boys and the too-good-to-last-longer-than-two-seasons The Tick.
Weirdly though, this somehow started a rumor that Amazon would be interested in buying out Sony's movie and tv division for their resources or whatever...
But I don't believe a word of it.
Okay, you got me. Coca-Cola owning Colombia is still more bizarre.
(Man, I keep tuning out how a freaking soda company owning a movie studio actually happened. How did people from the 80's even respond to it? Was it similar to how Comcast went from being a cable-phone provider to owning NBCUniversal or something?)
Anya Corazon Spider-Girl movie potentially on development!
This was the same source that said with months of anticipation that Silver & Black was going to be scrapped in favor of a tv show and they were right! Trying not to get too hyped, but God, if this is true I'm gonna cry!
Olivia Wilde talks about directing Spider-Woman.
What's interesting is how she mentions mentions Kevin Feige in the video. So could Spider-Woman be a Marvel Studios/Sony collab after all?
If we were, this would've come from Cosmic Book News or We Got This Covered, not The Hollywood Reporter.
Actually, calming down a little, it's entirely possible that MCU!Electro might just be a rebooted Electro, not the one from ASM2, like how J.K. Simmons appeared as a MCU version of JJJ despite already being the character in the Sam Raimi trilogy.
Yeah, SM3 being wedged between WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness makes it possible that it's the Electro from ASM2, but one should not abuse the multiverse as a concept too lightly.
I'm sorry. I should have been clearer. I don't doubt that the source is accurate. It just seems to me like an unexpected and unwanted casting.
Also, IIRC, "Am I being punked?" was a Running Gag on Spectacular Spider-Man, where the phrased was used by various characters.

I don't have anything against Foxx. It's more that I wasn't a fan of how cartoonish the movie made the character, especially because it was like an inferior version of Spectacular's take, in which Dillon started as a normal (if somewhat surly) guy and was driven to villainy and insanity after Peter did his usual quipping and attacking when he should have helped him.
Since Foxx more often plays cool/badass characters, I'd be up for a very different take on Electro that's more in line with his comic version.
Incidentally, looking up the character on Wikipedia, I was amused that some of Electro's first villainy involved stealing energy from Stark Industries (please don't do that, movie).
But more interestingly, he also attacked JJJ and at one point was also hired by him to attack Spider-Man.

Sony did announced a Silk film a while back, but there hasn't been any further developments since then.
Frankly, the way they announce movies and never go into development, it's a miracle Venom and Morbius (especially Morbius) got made.
