Edit: I've created the index. So far I've added only those pages that have mandatory waiting periods already in effect.
It's been brought up in a few places recently (most notably in this ATT thread) that we have a few tropes / Audience Reactions / etc. that have mandatory waiting periods before being added. The suggestion has been made— which I tend to agree with— that some sort of index to keep track of which tropes have waiting periods and what those periods are would be helpful.
Besides what's already on the index, we've got:
- Specific Mandatory Waiting Period Suggested:
- Critical Dissonance - Brought up here as being too early to call on release weekend. Fighteer suggests a one-month mandatory waiting period on all similar "reception tropes."
- Overshadowed by Controversy - a 6-month mandatory waiting period has been suggested but not agreed upon yet
- The Scrappy - Due to its close association with Base-Breaking Character and its status as a complaining magnet, has been suggested for a 6-month waiting period in this thread.
- No specific waiting period has been suggested, but adding it too early has caused problems:
- Eight Deadly Words - It was suggested here that the below should apply to this as well
- So Bad, It's Good - Fighteer noted here that the weekend of release was too early to apply tropes like these
- So Okay, It's Average - see above
Template tag for work pages:
%% Per Administrivia/NoRecentExamplesPlease, do not add [Trope] until [X] months/days/weeks after the episode's release (Month Date, Year).
Use this date calculator to add the amount of months/days/weeks in accordance to No Recent Examples, Please!.
- As mentioned here, the consensus is that NREP warnings in trope page descriptions can use bold text so that they stand out.

I brought this up in ATT and also in a discussion thread on the relevant page, but there is a Win Back the Crowd entry in Shin Megami Tensei V that I want to make sure is okay to delete since it's currently the subject of an Edit War:
Setting aside that none of the criticism seems to have actually dented the franchise in a meaningful way, the game has not yet been released, so it should be okay to delete, right?
EDIT: The entry has been removed by another troper in accordance with No Recent Examples, Please!.

So, I've noticed a few people have been trying to add a new Fallen Creator entry for Blizzard Entertainment, but it seems the official mod policy is that it's too soon to list them.
However, we don't have an official word on what the exact amount of time needs to pass before a creator can be added. I don't really have a good time-frame suggestion. Overshadowed by Controversy is kind of similar and has a six-month waiting period, but I'm not sure if that would be a sufficient amount of time. Any suggestions?
Hmm... maybe a year after the event that is said to cause the fall?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. It is not a matter of some exact time limit.

MB Pending | MB Drafts | MB DatesI feel the newly released Fan-Preferred Cut Content is at risk of audiences who were pissed off at how a just-released work did not contain cut content in it when in a certain amount of time, when later people would have calmed down and be left to question if the cut content was truly better.
For example, the recent Masters of the Universe: Revelation had the cut idea of Adam simply losing the ability to become He-Man, causing him to join Teela on the quest to bring magic back rather than the released version where Adam dies and the divisive Andra takes the role as Teela's partner. This show is not even a month old but I feel it's going to get edited in regardless.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.I would say about a month at best.
Once again, when's a good time to put in Rescued from the Scrappy Heap in regards to a certain character's gameplay?
MB Pending | MB Drafts | MB DatesIf you're still discussing Insult to Rocks, I simply say "no living politicians". Quips and barbs toward a general political body (e.g. House of Representatives, Parliament) should stay. (There are already a lot of... awful RL examples on that page, anyway.)
I strongly agree.
Right now, it's being used as a proxy to complain about living politicians.
The Real Life section can stay, but I prefer that we should add "No Living Politicians Allowed" in the crowner for Insult to Rocks.

Kirby is awesome.Ay, I agree.
MB Pending | MB Drafts | MB DatesStandard Snippet is a slightly different page to some of these, since it's Real Life music in fictional works etc. - but should we have anything 5 years and older?
I'm slowly fixing the page, updating links to where there's no video / audio etc. and wanted to see what everyone else thinks.
Why... wouldn't we have older works on that page? Do you mean "5 years or younger"? In that case I'm more inclined to say that's a decent metric, I can't think of any songs from 2016 onward that have become a mainstay to reference.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I can't even think of something from the 2010s.
Yes, I meant nothing newer than 5 years; bad choice of language.
I feel like this needs to be brought up, but I don't know where to go, so I feel like this is the best place for it...
Career Resurrection needs to be a NREP Page
I'm surprised that it hasn't been made into one, but the reason why it should be is simple - to see if the resurrection sticks, ala Overshadowed by Controversy or Genre-Killer.
Thoughts?

Good idea. I've seen creators to seem to have learned from their mistakes and produced a big hit. But follow up with some nastier hits afterwards. Could be 5 years.
MB Pending | MB Drafts | MB DatesHow do we submit it for NREP?
From this ATT thread. Should Quietly Cancelled have a waiting period to curb potential pre-mature misuse?
Would 5 years be okay?
Unless they later confirm it.

That could work as well. I’ve added it to the crowned.

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.I think 5 years is a little long. How about 2 years or Word of God?
Edited by mightymewtron on Aug 14th 2021 at 7:27:27 AM
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, I think it's safe to say a show's been cancelled if it's been on hiatus for more than two years. And obviously a Word of God confirmation trumps all.
2 year wait for Quietly Cancelled, unless confirmed by Word of God.

TV Tropes accidentally referenced me in relationship status???/j | My Troper Wall
Yeah, I'm opposed to time-restricting Insult to Rocks examples; it's too objective and can come from anywhere on the morality or political spectrum. They should just be trimmed of things that don't clarify:
