Trope Launch Pad discard project

Though a lot of drafts mentioned here still need some sort of resolution, I want to keep trucking on with the Mothballed List part 3:

• Crit Or Miss Attack: Solid idea, poor draft, easy material for the Yard.
• Dementia: Consensus leaning toward making it a Useful Note; with 4 bombs, it'd be best to start from scratch.
• Destruction Is Cool: In the words of Xfllo, "They might be onto something, but no real work was done on the trope." In my own words, "Salvage Yard".
• Deus Ex Aquam: I remember this one. We determined it was a Bollywood trope, but progress stagnated immediately. Should we Yard it, or give it another bump?
• Doesn't Understand Sex: Big oof, as I remember this one too. The issue specifically was that nobody could agree on what the scope should be, and though it has 12 bombs, it has 21 hats, or 9 net hats. This is one of the ones that feels weird to "mothball", as it was under a lot of discussion and that discussion needs to be resolved on-draft.
• Double Barreled Pump Action Shotgun: No Mothball reason. The draft might be onto something, but with my limited knowledge of guns and the vague examples given, I'm not entirely sure what that idea is.
• Dreadful Diva Demands is absolutely a trope, but might need a better draft than we currently have.
• Dummy Trade Gambit: The example-as-thesis description doesn't help much, but it does sound like a good idea we can salvage based on the comments.
• Earth Must Stand On Its Own: No mothball reason; some comments are convinced this is just Alien Non-Interference Clause, but more.
• Egotistical Speedster even mentions that Speed Demon has begun to assimilate the idea. I say we discard Egotistical Speedster as a dupe at this point- I genuinely don't know why we kept it around if the newer draft is absorbing the concept.
• Elizabethan Beauty Ideal is a Forgotten Trope, and we might want to move it to the Salvage Yard, as the current draft isn't looking too hot.
• Embarrassed Beauty may or may not be covered by I Am Not Pretty, but the draft itself is in great shape and just needs a willing sponsor.
• The Emerald Horde is a very low-effort draft, but a UN on ancient Celts would be useful, so we should Yard it.
• Equal Elites, Male Mooks is a draft bogged down by a long debate on sexism or whatever, with Berrenta being the last post. I think it's an interesting idea and it has tons of hats, but the debate kind of sours it a little. We need a sponsor willing to breathe life into it.

I agree that Earth Must Stand on Its Own is a duplicate of Alien Non-Interference Clause. I gave it a fifth bomb, but I'll let other people look at it and determine if it should be discarded.

I discarded Egotistical Speedster.

If The Emerald Horde gets salvaged, it should use the alternate title listed on the draft (Celts with Claymores) because that fits with the other Forces with Firepower page names. It's certainly a pageworthy concept, but I'm not a historian, so I can't help with it.

Equal Elites, Male Mooks sounds like an extension of Men Are Generic, Women Are Special. Not sure how different it could be.

[some number of arrows] what Jay said. If you notice a draft being worked on, it should not be in mothball or yard.

Those who delete the list entries of such drafts, I'd appreciate it if you leave a reason for the history page, e.g. "this draft was adopted by so-and-so" or something like that.

Hence the "e.g." which means "for example". That certainly wouldn't be the only reason.

The draft wasn't adopted or anything. It was sitting there for months as Pichu-Kun continued working on it. It shouldn't have been "mothballed" to begin with. It was under active work.

I made a new TLP draft for the Funsucker, renamed it The Killjoy.

Uh yeah. If it's active, it can go away without an edit reason.

Do we yard Useful Notes?

I want to discard Double Barreled Pump Action Shotgun. It seems to want to be Artistic License - Firearms but most of the examples are "this gun exists" and the majority of the comments are about coming up with a name rather than helping with examples.

The point is, it was on our list with no valid reason, so I'm not so sure we need edit reasons if we're just correcting that issue; especially since this is being hashed out here.

In general though, mothballing/salvaging drafts under active discussion should be a no-go. It goes back to why I was so angry a little while ago- this thread presuming some level of authority over drafts that have an active discussion taking place, as if all that matters is what's decided here. This thread should concern itself only with the abandoned. That's also why I think we need to remove "Doesn't Understand Sex" from the mothball list as well.

Anyway, we do have a few UN ideas on the Yard, so why not?

OK, so while I'm still on the end of Page 45 as far as old business goes, I've gone through the last few pages and picked up most of the drafts that are hanging at 4 bombs, so that someone can do the final honors and/or make a case for Yarding or not discarding them.

The list is long, yes, but theoretically it can be whittled down quickly. I'll bring up the rest of the old business (shouldn't be that much) once this gets worked over a bit, and we should be caught up.

Hybridization Plot Good idea, draft is bad. Primo Yard fodder.

Suddenly Onscreen In Another Series This is Once More, with Clarity only very oddly specific.

The One Where X Finds Out This is awfully similar to Love Revelation Epiphany and I Can't Believe a Guy Like You Would Notice Me, only a bit less specific. It’s not exactly covering a gaping hole and the draft is awful, and has 4 bombs & 0 hats.

Bastard Best Friend Poisonous Friend, has 4 bombs so if someone would do the deed…

Parental BSOD Mashes together Outliving One's Offspring, Parting-Words Regret, and others.

Prehistoric Art Chairs.

Happy Hero Serious Show Is this covered, Yard fodder, or just a junk draft?

Unofficial Official Sponsor It’s technically an inversion of Bland-Name Product except for sponsorships instead of product placement…but this seems more like Trivia (at best) than an actual trope, because it doesn’t really have to do with the makeup of the advertising itself. I don’t think it passes the “Who Cares?” Test, but someone might think so. Yard?

Rated I For Intelligence We can Yard it if someone thinks it’s worthy, but I don’t think “saying a product is for smart people” is all that tropeworthy. At 4 bombs, I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Missing Manual There’s two examples that aren’t Real Life, and honestly…I don’t know that it’s really tropeworthy. Even the discussion is focused on situations where a reasonable person wouldn’t ‘’expect’’ there to be a manual, as in pirated games.

Smart Cop Dumb Cop Adopted by Basara Kun, removed from mothballs. Godspeed, little draft.

So You Want To Write An Inn Between Worlds This is just asking for help making the draft.

One Hit Equals Defeat This is the same basic concept as HP to One.

Character Name In Needs one more bomb, and an answer: keep or discard?

Through The Wires Shot: Epic Tracking Shot.

Need To Survive For Their Cause This is a case of an character’s ‘’excuse’’ being used as the trope. Not really sure about this one.

Yard Character Name In, and I discarded the HP to One dupe and Inn.

I'm trying to catch up, I've been busy these days.

• Seated Boss Fight was posted here as a dupe of Stationary Boss. Discarded
• An Unofficial Videogame Adventure. Given the lack of examples and its narrowness, I'd say to discard it. A work page about an unofficial book can be normally created under the Literature/ or Fan Fic/ namespace, and then listed in the Fan Works/ sheet of the original work. I can't see the need of a trope for that. Discarded
• Destruction is cool was yarded and has 7 bombs. Discarded
• Missing Manual, I'm in favour of discarding it. I can't see a trope. Discarded

Some more old business. There was more than I thought, so I'll do them in installments. These are some of the quicker to deal with; I'll save the more contentious ones for last.

Crit or Miss Attack Already yarded and sitting at 4 bombs.

Aleatoric Art It’s already in the Yard and has 4 bombs.

Cool Instrument All the valid ideas from the thread are in the Yard, and this is a one-line stub with 3 bombs.

Novelty Song Bad draft that was immediately abandoned. Also, it’s a One And Done at 4 bombs. I guess we could Yard it if anyone thinks it’s worth something.

Doors of Doom Needs a new title, but it’s salvageable if we don’t already have it (and I’d be a bit surprised if we don’t). Otherwise it has 3 bombs.

Competently Disadvantaged This is Modern Major General as previously noted by El Buen Cuate.

Big Star Small Town This is From New York to Nowhere as previously noted by El Bueno At Finding Obscure Tropes.

People Stand On Chairs I don’t know what to do with this. It’s a one-line abandoned stub with 3 bombs, though.

Inverse Question I still don’t think this is a trope, just goofy-ass wordplay.

Creepy Lo-Fi Ominous Visual Glitch.

mommy mommy Worst titled draft ever for the idea. The draft idea is fine if a little weirdly specific, so its destiny is likely the Yard. 3 bombs.

Gasoline to Flames Isn’t there a trope about being clueless around fire or something? Either way, a never-edited stub draft. 3 bombs.

I bombed them all (and discarded some). That said, I don't feel like salvaging Novelty Song. It's so bad I can't even understand if the idea behind it it's worth it. I added the fifth bomb by the way.

There's also the Broken Base pothole in para 1 and "do examples for me". Discarded it. If someone wants a novelty song article, feel free to see Wikipedia.

I discarded Aleatoric Art, People Stand on Chairs, and Competently Disadvantaged. If someone else wants to yard Chairs, then they can.

As for Gasoline to Flames, I couldn't find anything in This Index Is on Fire, so I don't think we have it.

Yeah, novelty songs are an odd duck because they're both a pseudo-genre and a pejorative term.

Comedy musicians like Weird Al tend to avoid the label because they're, y'know, generally talented musicians and performers whose stuff can hold its own musically.

The things that actually get called "novelty songs" are stuff like Crazy Frog or that Gummy Bear song. No, I'm not linking either one, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, YOU ARE BLESSED.

Hey, why is Doors of Doom in the salvage yard when Yes, We DO Have This One? It's already covered by Ghost Butler.
