Unreleased Work Page Cleanup (Speculation, Spoilers, Zero-Context, et al.)

Go To

This is a thread for checking up on pages for works that have not been released yet, to make sure that they are not straying into rampant speculation or posting crazy behind the scenes spoilers. You can bring both individual examples or entire pages to attention here.

In extreme cases, any page can be locked, but hopefully that won't be necessary.

(As these pages often are hit with zero-context examples and shoehorning as well, all four - speculation, spoilers, ZCEs, and shoehorning may get addressed simultaneously.)

The policy governing this effort is Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work.

the page says nothing has been heard of it since the anime came out. Wikipedia says TBA.

the page waaaaay predates the current policy, so if it needs a cut, good riddance.

I'm Chloe. I fix things. Only you can prevent ZCEs.

Red Ash is vaporware and is probably never actually going to be released since the Kickstarter failed and the developer got bought out.

[up] If it's vaporware, it's treated like any other canceled work.

Misspelled trope names dealt with... for now. Moving back to the Understatement project soon?

So, Silverblade 2 commented out every single example on Klaus (2019).

When creating the page, I did my best to follow the rules of Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work, and only used the tropes that were obvious in the trailer. (For instance, I think it's likely Alva will be Jesper's Love Interest, but we don't know if she will, so I didn't mention that.)

The Dude, Where's My Respect? example was based on a bit in the trailer where Jesper sees the kids praising Klaus, and saying "Klaus? What about me?" We don't know if that will be a major plot point or just in that one scene, but the film is obviously going to be using this trope somewhere based on that.

Mrs. Krum is clearly being set up to be The Grinch. We see her ranting about Jesper and Klaus "brainwashing" everyone, and leading a mob to destroy the children's toys.

Smeerensburg is obviously a Wretched Hive. It's described as "the unhappiest place on Earth", and we see shots of the townsfolk attacking Jesper with weapons.

Of course, it's possible some of these tropes will be subverted. Maybe Mrs. Krum will not be so Grinchy after all, for instance. But Subverted Tropes are still tropes, and thus I see no reason to hide the examples based on that. Maybe we could edit the examples to mention that once the film is released.

What do you guys think? Anyone want to debate?

[up] They're not cited as coming from the trailer.

I don't know what this thing is, and that terrifies me!

[up]So, if I DID cite them, I could comment them back in?
