OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.

I have doubts. I don't see them introducing another mega-like mechanic, and especially not giving it to mons that already have megas. Or doing much of anything with mythicals
Might as well pour my initial thoughts on Pokemon Sword and Shield there. More specifically, the starters.
So Galar is based on United Kingdom. I want to see Singapore or Malaysia as a Pokemon region, but Gen 7 has a tropical region anyway.
Scorbunny just looks weird. How do I describe that? It's like a Meowth wearing a bunny mask. Hopefully, its evolved form will look better. Or it becomes a Fire/Fighting.
Sobble is my favorite of the bunch so far, but the name is so silly that it makes ME Sobble. Grookey is fine, it does indeed look like a starter. KAY BYE

The German names of the starters are:
Gras: Chimpep (Chimp and pep, a peppy chimp)
Fire: Hopplo (-lo probably from "Lohe" an archaic word for flame, so a hopping flame)
Water: Memmeon (a combination of "Memme" = Wuss/Wimp and Chameleon, so a cowardly chameleon)
Based on the names I expect the water-starter's line to become Water/Dark unless it is one of these lines that invert their initial theme.
With the grass starter both German and English translations mention it being mischievous and curious, so I expect it to either become a Grass/Dark or Grass/Psychic type (for the latter the stick it carries could become something like a sage's staff or a magnifying glass if they go for a Sherlok-esque angle).
The fire starter will almost certainly be a Fire Figther, so I guess we will get the Fighting-Dark-Psychic inverse spiral once again.

, Why not a Fire/Fairy? It seems cute (in fact, all the starters are Cuteness Overload).
Visually, it looks better than I expected. Maybe it's just the setting, but the art style gives off a very "fairy tale picture book" vibe.
My only gripe so far is that it looks like we still only have fixed camera angles. I yearn for the day we'll get our full 3D Pokemon game with a freely rightstick-controlled camera.
I wonder if the game will feature any HUD elements that would normally have gone on the bottom screen. It would be pretty neat to have Pokemon status indicators up in the corner, for example.

I do think that's a possibility of Scorbunny's evolved form being Fire/Fairy as Fairy-type is associated with the moon, and there's a folklore of moon rabbits. But its design tells me that it's more likely to be part Fighting-type when it evolves.
