Mau Ler kinda sucks from what I've seen/heard. Not gonna give him attention.

More seriously, I fail to see how Carol herself is dull or flat. She has genuine character development over the course of the story, is an endoctrinated soldier who learns to realize that the people she serves are evil, she has a sense of humor, and despite what people say she is likable. I mean, I swear, people act like that stupid deleted scene with the jerk biker was the summary of all her interactions with male characters, but she is pretty friendly with Fury aside from the occasional teasing, and apologizes to Talos once she finds out he was a victim all along.

It's definitely my fave origin, maybe tying with Captain America.
But damn, I'm still talking about it and thinking about it. That's not something I can say about the other MCU films.
You are not alone.Still not a fan. I liked it more than Thor 2 and Iron Man 2.
The most annoying thing about the entire backlash around Captain M Arvel is that a lot of morons got involved in it. So now someone can't even dislike the movie without the suspision of sexism existing. (because of the sexist morons who co-opted the film's fallout)
Kaze ni Nare!Seen this happen before with prior "kinda eh" girl power movies that blokes turned into warzones against feminism. Give it a few years, and eventually they'll move on to something else while you can say your hot takes without any worry.
"Pixar's Brave sucked." *crickets*
Or word your complaints carefully in a manner that doesn't paraphrase what the wrong blokes say. Bring up something new. Here's an interesting review
arguing Carol's personality is at odds with her backstory.

I'm just chilling in the camp of feeling that if you didn't really like this movie, that's fine and all but a lot of the backlash has been pretty bloody stupid as we all know. I really oughta get this on Blu-Ray.

Still not convinced she's more powerful than Thor.
One Strip! One Strip!

I don't know. Thor was the one bottlenecking the Chitauri Ships in The Avengers. And we saw him plow his way through giant creatures during the Ice Giant Fight in his intro film. And lets not forget he pretty much singlehandedly turned the Battle of Wakanda around.
And with Stormbreaker, he's even stronger.
Now in regards to Endgame, (spoiler for Endgame here; don't read this if you haven't seen it): I never was sure if the Thor we see post snap (five years later) is really in his prime. He'd clearly let himself go badly, and while he got back in the game mentally, that's not a sign of him being physically on the ball either. I figured him Dual Wielding Stormbreaker and Mjolnir was him kinda trying to make up for how dull his edge was. This is my issue. We only see Thor and Carol both at the top of their respective games at the very beginning of the film and Thor doesn't really fight Thanos when both are bringing their A game. Also, Carol, while undeniably powerful, never takes on a Thanos who is really using the Infinity Gems either (he's kinda in a rush at this time).
I think he's just as capable of wiping out fleets as she is, and can clearly survive in space as well (otherwise what was the point of the guardians finding him). So from where I stand, she hasn't done anything he can't.
That being said, the next time they team up, Odinson will likely no long be Fatson (
) so we'll get to seem two One (wo)man armies tearing shit up, and that's gonna be awesome.
Thor has always been exactly as powerful as the plot needs him to be, which makes comparing him a little difficult sometimes. This is a guy who can get struck by a bolt of lightning, then get taken out by a taser.
In Infinity War, Thor takes the concentrated energy of a neutron star / white dwarf, which while weaker than a fully realized star would certainly be enough to destroy a planet, and Stormbreaker on its own tanks a blast from a complete Infinity Gauntlet. Then in Endgame, Thanos is blocking Stormbreaker with a helicopter propeller, and is able to punch him into submission. <shrug>
It fits the genre, though. Captain Marvel is supposed to be fighting huge cosmic entities and space fleets, because she's super-comsmic Flash Gordon, and her stories reflect that. Thor fights sci-fi wizards and space dragons, because he's cosmic Hercules, and his stories reflect that. They both get the thing that DC heroes are known for, at least in the films, where they're baseline stronger than usual in team-ups to emphasize how powerful they are in comparison to everyone else, as well.

I would have loved to see Carol interact more with ANY of the Avengers...honestly, I hope that there are at least some deleted scenes.
Anyway, it's my second or third favourite Origin movie...The First Avenger is still my fav, because it does Steve just so well, and I still haven't quite decided if I like Ironman or Captain Marvel better. After that there is Ant-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange. I don't quite count Got G as origin movie because it is more a team up movie, if you count it, it would be ahead of all of them.

I guess Got G 1 notwithstanding, for me it's Captain Marvel > Iron Man > Ant-Man > The First Avenger >>> Doctor Strange, the only real dud of this lot since I haven't seen TIH or Thor (which granted at least seems okay-ish for what it's going for).

Well, it also reflects the 1990s action movie pretty well. Honestly, the only thing missing is the guitar riff…which brings me back to my biggest issue with the movie, which is still the use of soundtrack. Just...URGH!!! Honestly, was there no 1990s composer they could hire to provide the typical music?
