The reason is that Marvel Studios doesn't care about the shows.

You are not alone.Just saw it. I thought it was fun!
Edit: I am absolutely baffled by people saying Brie Larson didn’t emote. She did! A lot! She was tired, and cheeky, and unsure, and determined, and angry, and playful, and confident, and loving, and how on earth did some people not see that???
I also remember seeing some people claim Gal Gadot was wooden in Wonder Woman. Do... do some people struggle to read emotions on women’s faces???

To a lot of men, women's faces have two emotional states: "Smiling" and "Not Smiling".
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Hoo boy, I noticed that several people replied to my question about the bit from Avengers 1 not being a Plot Hole, when I originally thought it was. I found another reason that I now realize that 1) I was misremembering and 2) I need to pay attention more when I have the movie right in front of me xD.
I don't remember all of the people who responded so I can't @ you to thank you, sadly.
Anyway, what made me realize another possibility: What if, when Fury was talking to Loki, he had been keeping Carol, the Skrull pursuit, and everything that happened in this movie secret from everyone, save maybe Coulson?
What supports this is when Carol just instantly shows up as Nat turns around, both parties react like they don't know at all who the other is/are.
The Avengers not knowing Carol has more supporting it, but we don't know yet if Fury ever got around to telling Carol about THEM before the Snap. For me, it was the way she asks "Where's Fury?" If she knew who the Avengers were, it would've sounded just a "little" bit more relaxed instead of potentially hostile, in my opinion. It made me make a two-dollar bet with a friend that Carol might try to attack at first until maybe Steve is able to stop her and explain. But now we're getting into WMG, so I don't want to do "that" here.
Again, sorry it took so long to get back to those who helped reinform me. They know who they are...

To be honest, I suspect many of these people were predisposed to judge Larson's acting negatively anyways. As I said earlier, I'm sure a significant part of why they're so spiteful about this film in particular is because Larson is an open feminist and social activist.
But yes, there's a double standard here at play where male heroes can get by emoting relatively little and be praised as a "stoic, silent type", but women who do the same get accused of not being able to act.
...I had no idea it was such a big issue.
I mean, yeah it did seem to me that she was kinda subdued (which I hated saying because it's the exact argument those ass-trolls have been making), but I hoped it was an in universe thing of her trying to control her emotions like she'd been told to.
...I still feel that way to be honest. But I see the point about the Double Standard. I also know y'all won't hold it against me because you all know Handsome Rob is not sexist in any way.
One Strip! One Strip!Heck, there's a neat room that illustrates something similar in the Museum of Tolerance, where they show you two doors and tell you that one is for those who have prejudice and one is for those who have no prejudice. The "non prejudice" door is locked and cannot be opened, forcing everyone to go through the "prejudice" door.
Nobody is easier to con than a person who thinks they're too smart to be conned.
By the same metric, nobody is more prone to lapses of x-ism than someone who is 100% convinced that they are not capable of being x-ist. That's where the "I'm not x-ist BUUUUUUT" line comes from.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Saw it, had a great time. It's always hard for me to summate my thoughts of a movie when I've just walked out of seeing it but I'll try. Carol was awesome, her tearing up ships was awesome, but probably my favorite parts were her interactions with Maria and Monica. Oh lawd they warm my little ol' heart. Massive bonus points for passing the Bechdel Test, even if that was inevitable considering how many pieces in place there were to pass it. Also, Talos and Goose are awesome.
I have some issues, however. Ronan, Korath, and Minn-Erva just weren't utilized anywhere near as much as they should've, which is a shame. The visuals have some good moments but they're still not quite on the level of, say, Infinity War. I'll think of more later.
All in all, damn good time. Better than Infinity War IMO. And yaaaaaaay Carol's really meeting up with the other Avengers.

I'm pretty bloody guilty of x-ism myself. Better in the long run for me not to deny it.

Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)I suppose considering my love of both Fanservice and sexy catfights, I shouldn't be surprised at my own x-ism.
The battle is long and hard....
I am of course a perfectly transcendent being, unable to be burdened by prejudice. My soul is free of all bigotry and all of my words are objective fact.
(Is potholing to Sarcasm Mode really necessary here)
You are not alone.

I saw it Thursday and I really liked it. There was a lot of exposition at the beginning though, but once that got out the way, it was awesome throughout. The origin story being tweaked came to no surprise. The comics already tweaked it by making Carol half-Kree all along on her mother's side so I wasn't surprised by the Gender Flip of Mar-Vell. This was Marvel's first female-led film, she can't get her powers from a man, blah blah blah. And I did like that it was Monica that got to decide Carol's suit design, a little nod that she was Captain Marvel before Carol.
And there is no reason why we could not have had a Ming-Na/Agent May cameo.
