I'm not really fond of the current article's chart, as I don't think it's really informative and comes across as kinda confusing.,

Now, obviously, this is kind of a hard trope to depict in a page image, but I was thinking that we could show a picture of the typical map screen in one of these games, like what I've shown. (The game in question being Forza Horizon 4, by the way.)

Current has artifacing and needs to go anyway.

OP is blurry and I'm not sure if it's a good illustration.

Cropped versions of this or this (same game)?

I don't really like the idea of using a world map for this. They're always super-cluttered, and it's not immediately obvious that the markers are objectives or destinations, and having lots of objectives doesn't really imply "Sandbox" anyway. Not to mention overlap with the various World Map pages.

How about this shot from Horizon Zero Dawn?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hzdsandbox.png

It shows the player character up in a tree, which implies that you can climb the environment, and you can clearly see that said environment extends well beyond the horizon.

It's subtle, but I think it does a better job of illustrating what these games are like, whereas maps just tell you what they're like.

If not this particular shot, Horizon's got thousands of other shots we could potentially use instead, just Google "Horizon Zero Dawn". I really like these two shots.
